Pule February 15th, 2011, 07:08 AM Client: Constant Capital
Components: Mixed Use beachfront development
Area: 65 300sqm on 19Ha site
Status: 2009 - ongoing
The Accra Waterfront initiative is a significant mixed use development on the coastline of Accra which aims to create an attractive resort style urban node. It is a private sector initiative that has the potential to become a catalytic development and transform the area into a new, vibrant mixed-use community.
This exciting nodal project will thrive on private sector investment creating leasehold and freehold sales opportunities. The project will create a new neighbourhood with a blend of retail, office, residential and leisure. This part of greater Accra could fast become an urban growth zone, with the availability of land for development to the north and east of the site, good road connections as well as planned upgrades to the surrounding road infrastructure.
Not only will the project bring a massive economic boost to the area offering improved hospitality, retail and new office facilities, but it will also help foster a new type of waterfront lifestyle for Accra where people can live, work, shop and play by introducing a truly world class development to this large (19.0 acre) strategic site. The beach front luxury apartments and high quality hard and soft landscaping set within conserved mangroves with associated health and sports facilities, will help create a distinctive and desirable location.
jeff91 February 15th, 2011, 06:21 PM wow that is beautiful, we need more hotel around the coast.
royal_ron2012 February 15th, 2011, 07:51 PM simply AMAZING!! Ghana needs more of this...its about time we blended the natural side of the Ghanaian Topograhics with its modern developments
popa1980 February 15th, 2011, 10:55 PM where is this?

Accra
musiccity February 15th, 2011, 11:56 PM Fantastic! Accra doesnt seem to take advantage of its coastal location but this project will change that!
popa1980 February 17th, 2011, 01:16 AM Accra
I know that, but where in Accra!
royal_ron2012 February 17th, 2011, 04:45 AM I know that, but where in Accra!
looking at the pics, it looks like they plan on putting it at the bank of the Korle Lagoon where it meets the ocean...close to the Osu castle
hassanykb April 13th, 2011, 10:01 PM this doesn't seem ecological or environmentally friendly
Do we have to repeat the same mistakes that have been produced elsewhere in this age of global consciousness about the earth!
steelbaby April 15th, 2011, 10:20 PM well this is gonna be put on the shore of la beach. on the other side of the labadi beach hotel. it's a great use of our underutilized coastline. it will also beautify and hopefully spark the further development of our coastline. there is already another beach front project being executed next to the la palm royal beach hotel. this could spark a series of project improving the aesthetics of our city. maybe we'll even catch up to cities like dakar, abidjan(pre-war), and maybe, and a big maybe, durban.

niireo April 18th, 2011, 12:34 AM nice
TshabalalaGH April 19th, 2011, 03:19 AM I feel like there are just way too many things going on in Accra! We gotta spread the wealth to the other regions! Ashanti Region looks like ONE BIIIG UGLY VILLAGE! My hometown, the Eastern Region; I haven't heard much projects going on there. What about The Upper regions? The Volta Region has some of the most beautiful landscape in the country but not much is going on there!
Simfan34 April 23rd, 2011, 06:46 PM Most impressive.

Abidjan(pre-war) Ha!! Abidjan (post-war) still looks way better than Accra and as far as catching up?...Lets look at it this way, Accra is about 30 years behind Pre or Post war Abidjan in terms of Aesthetics and infrastructural development and 25 and 40 years respectively behind Dakar and Durban. You see, Ghanaians, Being the conservative bunch that we are, are slow to catch on to modern trends.
eg Majority of us don't even understand the importance of expressways. We fail to grasp their purpose and dwell on unfounded cons that are associated with them. The only Freeway (Motorway) in the country Is in constant danger of being turned into a regular street because we just don't get it!! We don't appreciate it's function as an expressway!! Accra as it is today has hardly changed in 50 years!! There are a handful of new structures, not skyscrapers, and that's about it!!! I have seen a few pictures of Accra in The 50's and 60's and oh yea, the city looked awesome...in that era, but now, 50 years on, it seems to have frozen in time. We need progressive minded people to lead the country, people who understand the true meaning of development!

Accra is a planning disaster because it was allowed to grow in a massive low-density fashion. Look at Dar Es Salaam- i love it- such a high density city. Ghanaians have only recently began to appreciate apartment living. How on earth can there be bungalows in the CENTRE of Accra? I dont know of ANY city of Accras size, ANYwhere in the world where this could be possible.
jeff91 April 24th, 2011, 02:49 PM they should put a limit on where buildings can be bulit, so that it will encourage builders to build upwards

At least, Here's someone who's really on point...More than I can say for ignorant fools like Jeff or whatever the F@#K his name is. We need more seasoned contributers like Poppa who actually provide constructive critisicm.

come onn yoo!!! let's try to be a bit civil here...
I strongly agree with both of you, but i think the problem with Accra is bigger and deeper....I hate to say say this but, we Ghanaians can be very timid sometimes....It is 2011 and Ghanaian in Ghana still prep Fufu the same way they did before the arrival of the Europeans...our leaders seem to lack innovation....I have always associated myself with NDC for bringing democracy to Ghana...i find it extremely painful to say that Jack K4 is the only Ghanaian president besides Nkrumah that had the right ideas to change our infrastructure. The Ghanaian gov. need to be pro-active with it's diaspora and try to convince it's educated citizens to try and go home n help develop the country....speaking of Accra, the gov is just going to have to be a bit more brutal with law breakers to ensure that it gets it's message across to the ghanaian public. "the end justifies the mean" i guess. lets be a lil more patient tho; im sure once the STX project begins, Accra will see cranes rising up everywhere

man fuck you... this guy i have seen that all your comment on everything to do with Ghana is negative, back in the day London was suffering with a similar problem where the city was growing outwards in a low density fashion, so the government at the time put a limit around city stopping low density building and encouraging builders to bulid apartment instead of houses, so what was wrong with what i said you tell me. or just shut the fuck up

musiccity April 25th, 2011, 03:19 AM Alright folks, the Ghanaian forum is a place of peace and happiness like Ghana. Lets keep things friendly.
diko April 25th, 2011, 02:47 PM I concur with Musiccity. This a forum for discussions, not insults. Jeff has done a lot to help contribute to the vibrancy of the forum and if you disagree with his comments, the least you could do is offer him some constructive criticism. Peace.
