As far as the American police agencies are concerned, that's a lot of car for not a lot of money. Chargers are more expensive than other police sedans on the market, but several agencies accept the price hike for the performance increase. And either way, a $1-2000 discount is very welcome.

The Netherlands is now going to change all sounds of Police, Ambulance and Firecars.

We used to have 1 tune for police, 1 for ambulance etc. So people could recognize it. I never could :P

Agreed, I don't think that's an actual P71. I'd venture to guess that it's a civillian unit gussied up by the owner in the recognizable NYPD livery for a movie, commercial, or maybe just for the fun of it.

The UK Police Lamborghini is not operational, it's merely used to engage members of the public at shows and events. The UK Police do however operate Subaru Imprezas and Mitsubishi Evos in a specialist intercept/ pursuit role with air support. It should be noted that only highly trained police pursuit drivers in suitable high performance vehicles and with air support, should engage in high speed pursuits in the UK.

I know about Slovakia and Czech republic for example... Also our emergency cars used "american" type of sirens. Few years ago, we used our own sirens, but after revolution in ´89 start using this "american" type

Some of our emergency vehicles use the euro sirens. I seem to hear them mostly at night, and they tend to be ambulances (though I've heard police cars using them too). It's pretty rare though.

A little side note:
Even though that we feel Police are jerks, when we're getting a ticket (A Citation,) but please, I want to remind you all that, they are our jerks, we love them, and they're out there for our safety.
There has been lots fatalities lately, which many Police officers got stroke and killed by motorists on US Highways and throughout the world, while on routine traffic stops. Please spread the word; our Police Officers need our help: Move over away from emergency vehicle on the highway (If safe to do so.) Or otherwise, reduce your speed.

It's kinda insane that in the DC area alone there are dozens of police departments - secret service police, US capitol police, mass transit police, dc metro police, FBI police, Virginia state police, arlington county police, maryland state police, and several more...

It'd be a lot less confusing if there was just DC police with certain divisions for the Capitol, the white house, mass transit, etc, and virginia state police and maryland state police, each with certain divisions for the capitol, mass transit, etc, each division perhaps with its own colors (but the same essential design for the separate departments... instead of dozens of separate entities.

Denmark hired 20 Swedish police veichles (like the one on the image) when there were riots and stuff in Copenhagen 2008. The Swedish and Danish police have a collaboration agreement wich say both countries can borrow equipment ect. from each other if it's necesary.

It started in England, by the Metropolitan Police of London, as they found out that white cars were difficult to sell after they were faced out of service, hens the silver ones.

In january, Czech highway police started to use 16 civil Volkswagen Passat R36. Engine 3,6l FSI 4 Motion, 220kW, max speed 250kph, 0-100kph - 5,6s. So be careful when you´re speeding on czech highways:)

Do police cars usually come out of factory with their police equipment( sirens, radios etc.) installed or are the equipment installed later?

It's my understanding that lights etc. are installed later - if they were installed when the car was still in the factory, Ford (or whatever the car manufacturer is) would probably have a single style of lightbar available in different colors, but since the lights are installed later, this allows there to be several different manufacturers offering many different styles of lights.

nerdly dood is correct. The lights on Crown Victoria's are installed later, although the searchlight/spotlamsp(mounted near the mirrors) actually can be ordered from the factory.

The chevy impala police package comes standard with flashing lamps in the rear window just behind the rear seat, and it to comes standard with spotlights, but the roof lightbars are built by other companies who install them later on.

It's my impression that police departments that aren't nationally accredited are to be shut down, however some private institutions such as universities and hospitals may have their own police departments (usually small, with jurisdiction confined to their own facilities)

I'm not realy sure why they have to say HEY!! THIS POLICE DEPARTMENT IS NATIONALLY ACCREDITED! like that - Roanoke County police has "Nationally Accredited" in smaller text on the trunklid, and other departments say it more subtly. Many police departments don't even say it at all... but IMO it should just be a small seal on the rear roof pillar rather than whatever each department thinks should be shown to advertise accreditation.

Why a convertible Porsche as a Police car?

What is the point of convertible police cars. Its just stupid and a waste of resources IMO.
