Agreed, but I do wish the NHL would come over sometime, give Manchester Phoenix a bit of a shot in the arm

Made me remember the Manchester Storm. Do you remember the 20,000 sellout crowds at the Nynex Arena! Great scenes!

Between the start of the Storm and the depature of Terry Christien the Mrs and myself missed 2 games, ever.

That included home, away, European, pre-season friendly European tours around the alps.

Great days, really wish they'd come back.

Alas, never been to Phoenix as when Storm died that was the end for me and the wife.

p.s. I met the wife at ice hockey and got together due to Princess Diana's death. But that is a whole different tale.

I was there as a 12 year old. Had the white and purple allsports shirt and everything. Great times and a better experience than when I saw the Philly Flyers vs New Jersey Devils in NJ.

Anyone else on here used to go to Storm away matches on a regular basis?

If so, you probably know me and the better half.

Why can proffesionals play basketball in the olympics but footballers/other sports cant if its their primary source of income?

FIFA don't want the top footballers in the Olympics, they have their own World Cup

Sorry to take this off topic by the way basketball people.

They were top days weren't they, I used to love it, and remember that roller hockey was becoming popular with the kids as a result. Think the sport in the region was really gathering momentum but then died a death due to well documented reasons.

Good luck to The Phoenix, they've done an excellent job and ultimately they have the expertise and the will to do what they want as a club, but I would love the good old days to come back at the arena and maybe NHL would be the key that.

I think the city has demonstrated the potential for the sport here, and its not totally inconceivable that NHL wouldn't expand thissaway one day. You can dream cant you.

Anyway, yeah so NBA eh?
