Hmm, IMO, I think logical extension of SLEX ang STAR especially when TR3 was completed.

STAR Tollway is for Batangas only, SLEX is connecting to STAR but STAR Tollway is not the existing extension of SLEX, becuse SLEX is may be Link to Bicol Region...:lol:

Revision made on previous proposal:

1. Instead of building expressway from Olongapo to Mariveles, connect it to NLEx junction of C-6/BRMCEx and NELEx, since Roman Highway can accomdate volume of vehicles to the town of Mariveles.

2. Instead of three segmented expressway (Cavite-Batangas, Batangas-Lucena, Lucena-Infanta) a loop expressway in CALABARZON linked to C-6/BRMCEx is more viable.

3. SCTEx shall be renamed as Northwest Luzon Expressway since it already reached Ilocos Norte.

^^ STAR Tollway is also known to its users as CALABARZON Expressway. I myself am also addled by this misnomer. But the proposal for CALABARZON Expressway - that would rouse more confusion. We should really put our nomenclature of expressways and tollways in order.

The Project was extremely delayed so when FVR found out what the name was (this was built during his time as President), he said that malas ang name so he had it changed to STAR (Southern Tagalog Arterial Road)

Reason for the name Calabarzon Expressway:
No idea whatsover but this is what the locals used to call it. Now, Batanguenos more commonly call it "Startol" with a heavy accent on the 2nd syllable.

according to my source. they are now looking at the possibility na gawin ang kabila ng Stage 2. they are now doing the study and cost analysis para dito. they even hired an IC to do the study.

so pretty soon magagawa na nga ang kabila ng Stage 2 ng STAR.

Yes I agree, kasi poorly lighted ang mga interchanges nila. Tapos if you exit at the Ibaan Northbound, makikita mo yung ceiling nila sira. Actually, dangerous to motoring public yung canopy ceiling na yun. kasi baka bigla na lang bumagsak yun. Kaya kunting ingat yung mga galing ng Batangas and will exit at Ibaan Northbound. Check first kung safe dumaan doon sa exit lane nila before proceeding to the exit lane.

Then mga kunting reblocking both southbound and northbound lanes. pero iilan lang ito.

Yung partial asphalt overlay na ginawa nila noong bago pa lang mag bukas ang Star Toll at yung last year is not considered as rehab. kasi part yan ng maintenance program ng company. Yan ang pag kaintindi ko.

correct. kasi gusto ata nila na may kapalit na toll increase for every major rehab na gawin nila. i dont know sa TRB kung pumayag sila dito. kasi kawawa nanaman ang mga motorista tulad natin na magbabayad ng additional toll rate para sa rehab na gagawin nila tapos kikita pa sila doon dahil sa rounding sa toll rates.

Dito kapag na aksidente ka sa kaka 200KPH mo, baka mga 1 hour na hindi ka pa naabot ng rescue at mamatay ka sa gitna ng kalye.... Ako yun lang iniisip ko palagi kaya mabagal lang ako mga 180KPH lang

Kauwi ko lang from San Jose, Batangas...there was a silver Toyota Fortuner (?) that was involved in a vehicular accident approximately 2 kms. from Lipa Exit northbound...sa sobrang lakas ng impact, tumilapon ung sasakyan at nalaglag sa bangin dun sa opposite side (yung hindi pa ginagawang lane)...

Kaya hindi ko ako sure kung Fortuner kasi sobrang napitpit e...tapos meh dugo doon sa kalsada...ingats tayo lagi pag nadaan sa segment na to, lalo na pag gabi...

i'm surprised may nagpapatakbo pa ng mabilis sa star. i once did 160 kph sa star a LOOONG time ago. ngayon sobrang pangit na ng daan kaya i rarely drive past 100 kph

Laging may aksidente sa STAR na ganyan, na kusang nag tu-turn turtle yung kotse, mas lalo na kung SUV or Pick-Up na mataas. :ohno:

Don't drive fast sa STAR because the vehicle is constantly "jumping" because of the bad lanes. So far I've seen 5 already, I've never seen an accident there that involves two vehicles, it's always a lone vehicle seemingly getting into an accident in an open highway. I even saw a lowered civic made for racing that turn turtled, so even low profiled vehicles will tend to turn turtle because of the "jumping".

Saw the video, katakot sa STAR pa humataw, in my younger days I tried 180 kph sa Skyway, pero Skyway yon smooth, but it's still not an excuse for risking my life unnecessarily (shivers, sign of the cross, hehe).

Yuong green center space malamang matagal pa, pero just like what happened in SLEX from Alabang to Canlubang before, it didn't take less than 3 years before the surroundings became saturated with mostly residential subdivisions, just as the case of Pacita complex in San Pedro, Camella in Muntinlupa along with new subdivisions along SLEX on Sta Rosa, up towards the end of the old SLEX..

Citra, San Miguel may join in Star Tollway upgrade and expansion

MANILA, Philippines–The Citra group announced on Thursday that it will jointly study with partner San Miguel Holdings (SMH) Star Tollway’s proposal to allow them to participate in the upgrading and expansion of its 42-kilometer toll road concession that starts at Santo Tomas and ends near the Batangas Port.

“We were invited by Star and are currently studying to invest in Phase 2 of the Star Tollway, which will widen the existing two lanes to four lanes from Lipa to Batangas City,” said Citra president Shadik Wahono.

He added that Citra, together with SMH, will complete the evaluation within 30 to 45 days.

Star has an application with the Toll Regulatory Board to re-pave the existing four lanes between Sto. Tomas and Lipa, and widen the 21-km Lipa-Batangas section. Target groundbreaking is set for mid-2012, and completion will be within 24 months at an estimated project cost of Php2.5 billion.

“The widening to four lanes will definitely minimize accidents which are prevalent with the current two lanes. Travel within Star Tollway should be much smoother once the project is completed,” Wahono said.

Aside from the widening project, the three groups (Citra, SMH and Star) would look into investments needed to improve road conditions and make travel safer, especially at night.

“We are currently evaluating the cost of putting additional lay bays; adding more lights, especially at major exit points, and installing more reflectors in-between exits, together with the planned re-paving, widening and upgrading of the existing road network “ he added.

Wahono also said they are considering investments in state-of-the-art monitoring systems, security cameras, speed guns, and may adopt the soon-to-be upgraded Skyway E-Pass system, order to make travel more seamless in the south.
