Looks a good chance of Brisbane vs Port Adelaide in the GF. It will be interesting if this does happen to see how the Melbourne footy public will respond.

Geelong will beat Brisbane.

Oh, I hope Brisbane wins again this year. And play Port. Two records. 4-in-a-row and interstate GF.

But this will just start the arguement over where the GF should be.

Leigh is only complaining about playing the prelim at the MCG. And rightly so!

Nobody seriously complains about the GF being played at the MCG. Every other final should be played at the higher finishing teams home ground/state. There is no compelling reason as yet to play the GF anywhere other than the MCG. It is a bit like Wembley at FA cup time.

Will we see an all interstate GF this year? Christ I hope so! May actually be a final to remember.

I'm always one of the first ones to complain about the MCC/MCG/AFL Preliminary finals arrangements... BUT the Grand Final is a whole lot different. I think the MCG is the only ground capable of pulling off a Grand Final year in, year out...

I believe it will be Bris d. Port this year, and it'll hopefully wake up a few more people to the fact that so called "interstate" sides are one of the reasons the league is still flourishing...

I reckon that Mathews wouldnt be that pissed off as it gives the Lions a chance to get the feel of The MCG before the GF.
I reckon it will be great for our national footy game to have two non Victorian teams in the GF and after all Port Adelaide and Brisbane did finish first and second on the ladder.

The other interesting thing is if the TV ratings will be tha same as normal in Melbourne with two non Vic teams.

I reckon "reckon" is a red-neck word.

Mathews IS already pissed off that the prelim is at the MCG, but is even more pissed off that it will be played on the Saturday evening (rather than the friday evening).

Will a non-Vic. final be good for the competition? Probably. It is going to be a sell out game no matter what happens.

Eh?

Maybe you missed that bit where Matthews used terms like "rampant parochialism" and "parochialism at the cost of integrity, justice and fair play in the national competition".

Not pissed off at all. :|

Here's a thought, If the MCC continues to hold the AFL to ransome all they need to do is fold the AFL (the business) and start anew, this would absolve them of their contract, they could also cut underperforming Melbourne teams to even out the competition a tad. OK so that's radical but you know. The other option is for all the Non Vic teams to break away and form their own competition, that would be the coolest move, I was having this argument with a co-worker and they haul out the tired old chestnut that the MCG is the "Home of the Game" and the GF "Belongs There", well if people are that close minded about everything then nothing will ever improve. The AFL has made great leaps and strides in becoming a national competition of the level of your NFL or MLB from the US, but in order to truly win the support of Non Victorians it has to show them some faith as well, and maturity, petulant whining about the home of the game and the so-called legend of the MCG is the kind of childish attitude that is all that is holding it back from being embraced all over the country. It's just a ground, a thing, the game, the players and the fans are what's important.
