City Telecoms Centre - Singapore

The project comprises 200m tall high-tech telephone exchange housing the nerve centre of Singapore's telecommunication - known to be the tallest Telecommunication Exchange in the world.
The building with a high aspect ratio depends entirely, for its stability and lateral forces, on the 4 secular service cores - one at each corner and a lift core at each end. The reinforced concrete structure had up to 200 thick cruciform steel section inserted in each column to match the architectural limitations on column size and to maximize usable floor space.

Highly sophisticated MEP services, especially the fire protection system, were incorporated to meet the telecom requirements for sensitive equipment areas.

Meinhardt provided integrated Structural and MEP engineering services.

Never really liked it - looks ugly and too metallic and inhospitable -_-

The building is listed as being 177 m tall at emporis.com. I saw this tower when I was in Singapore, but I didn't take a picture of it. It's by the same architect as the OUB Centre and UOB Plaza.

Yeah, but I am kinda wondering which source is correct.....the original 177m in emporis, or the 200m claimed by the engineering company behind it!

Anyway, I cant say I hate it. In fact, I like how it contrasts so niely with the OCBC.....I even think OCBC will look more horrendous without this complete opposite rite beside it!

Looks okay to me. In fact, i think it's quite nice. Then again, i like almost anything so... haha...

It'd be really weird if the whole thing had no offices right? I mean, it is kind'a big....

There are windows.But they're very small, and most are blocked behind by something that looks like metal plates?

Anyway, being not an office building, neither is it a residential tower, I don't think it needs big windows.

According my data records, reliable source from Mar500, the height is to 177m (rooftop) and 200m to telecom structure on top and is about 1m shorter than the nearby OCBC Centre. Anyone have a pic to show the height level? :)

i passed by and saw that it was a singtel shop. a few years ago though.

There is a shorter podium next to the taller building in the same facade too.

i dunno but if i remember correctly the shorter building has nothing at lobby to grab one's attention

It's usage is similliar to AT&T Longlines in NYC....

Interesting to know what this building contains, I thought when I first looked at it that it was normal offices for SingTel and maybe other offices let out also. Exchanges seems to be placed in skyscrapers these days.
