View Full Version : How do you get all mansions?
gundamdude September 13th, 2004, 02:02 AM How do you guys get tons of mansions in your cities? Is it you have to raise taxes for Residentail$ and $$? If you know any other things, or if what I am saying is incorrect, please tell me! :)
Thanks alot for your answers! :D
cincobarrio September 13th, 2004, 03:39 AM Have plenty of education, health, and parks.
Furiine September 13th, 2004, 03:51 AM Water too! You have to have water to get mansions.
cincobarrio September 13th, 2004, 05:19 AM They also need to be in a generally clean area, away from industial crap that give off air pollution. You also need garbage disposal.
gundamdude September 13th, 2004, 11:35 PM Is raising the taxes a correct thing to do, Or will it just make tons leave?
LSyd September 14th, 2004, 12:42 AM i'd think higher taxes would be bad...
lots of parks and open spaces seem to be good for mansions. and zoning 4x4 dense residential, i've gotten a good deal of 'em (when i really wanted a bigass slum apartment.)

cincobarrio September 14th, 2004, 01:02 AM Do not zone dense if you want houses.
Syd-Hk September 14th, 2004, 12:52 PM mansions i suggest 4 x 4 zoning , light density, water, power, low pollution, no garbage, education, hopstials and HIGH WEALTH.
gundamdude September 15th, 2004, 02:42 AM More questions.
Do you zone medium, or low wealth? Like Syd-Hk just said that you zone low.
And do you have to get connected with high populated cities?
Last but not least, how do you get high wealth, won't it just like come, or will it have to be made?
Questions, questions, questions! I know I have alot, but I'm really desperate to get a city like this.
gundamdude September 15th, 2004, 02:44 AM Oh yeah, and no garbage? Does that mean I can't use a landfill, or need one? Sorry about all the questions, I'm just not good at this game.
benji45 September 15th, 2004, 05:19 AM If you are talking about SC4, then some1 please help me because i keep losing money everytime i build a city! What am i doing wrong!!
gundamdude September 15th, 2004, 03:02 PM Same problem here. -_ -
Syd-Hk September 15th, 2004, 03:20 PM well you can to save money -
1) cut down funding on your schools, hospitals, fire stations.
2) reduce amount of parks in your cities
3) DO NOT UES HIGHWAYS in low density cities [they drain money] use avenues instead.
4) increase taxes
5) no not place an international airport. use smaller ones.
6) no not place certain gifts like mayor house.
7) do not always listen to what your sims say.
8) do not have all ordenences on.
9) do not zone high density until you need to.
10) place neighbour connections to increase workforce in your city (just make sure little people are going out)
OR-
1) use money cheat
2) use money giving lots from ST.
cincobarrio September 15th, 2004, 10:11 PM "Do you zone medium, or low wealth?"
The different zones aren't for wealth, they're for density. Houses, apartments, skyscrapers, etc.
"Oh yeah, and no garbage? Does that mean I can't use a landfill, or need one?"
No garbage as in no garbage on the streets. You need adequate landfill space to keep your city clean.
Furiine September 16th, 2004, 01:54 AM Ack! I really hate landfills, because they just eat up space (I always always always use incinerators at no funding whatsoever), but your garbage disposal should be in a neighboring city or very far from your residential area.
Syd-Hk September 16th, 2004, 01:08 PM you can download incinertors from ST.
skyscrapies September 18th, 2004, 07:45 AM what is 4x4 zoning
Syd-Hk September 18th, 2004, 08:37 AM when you zone an area to develop you will have sizes of each "lot"
when we mean 4 x 4 , we mean a zoning of 4 by 4 squares of "zoning".
if you still dont understand ill explain more.
invincible September 19th, 2004, 12:21 PM Hold down Ctrl when placing a 4x4 zone so that the game doesn't break up the zone for you.
skyscrapies September 19th, 2004, 02:39 PM i tried that(pressing ctrl) and it doesn't work... and when I zone 4x3 it doesn't build up to be large cooperations it will be small shops or 3 small buildings on that zone.and by the way is Fennel Corp a stage 8 building?
gundamdude September 19th, 2004, 11:44 PM You hold Ctrl down and zone. Large zones will only grow if your city has a large demand on whatever you are zoning.
invincible September 20th, 2004, 09:35 AM If demand isn't high enough for a building that will take up the entire zone, it will be split up automatically.
Sy September 22nd, 2004, 03:02 PM An easy way to make money in your first city is to have a large gap between your residential zone and your industrial zone. Only have one or two roads/highways connecting them and then put 6-7 toll booths along each road in a row. The sims either make you a fortune by going through them all to work or they start to use you mass transport more to get to work. Also if you have islands put the residential on one and then work on the other and have lots of ferries and bridges with tolls. You can make so much money that way.
HK Boy September 23rd, 2004, 09:33 AM The best to save money, is to give 'just enough' for your sims.
1)Cut the fundings(any fundings, edu, health, airports, ports, etc. But not the roads.) using the query tool.
2)Don't build police and fire stations at the beginning.
3)Don't build landmark until it is a must.
cinosanap September 28th, 2004, 09:09 PM I just make a landfill in a neighbouring "dirty city".
That way it keeps your main city clean and fresh.
