I think I've installed some BAT's the wrong way - once I put them in the plugin folder, they show up in the menu in-game. But when I try to place them I get giant brown paper-wrapped boxes that say "SimCity.Com" on them.

Is this because I didn't make specific folders in "My Computer/Sim City 4/Plugins"? - Thanks!

BAT/LOT files go in your My Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins folder, so make sure thats correct. But it sounds like your missing some dependancy plugins. Which could be a various of things. Also, do you have Rush Hour? Cause most BAT files are made only for Rush Hour. One other thing, be sure to have the update patch for SC4.

Crap - I don't have Rush Hour, no. That would explain some things indeed!

Which update patch do you need? - Is that the one where the lzones display directional arrows? (Got that one!)

that isnt a patch for the no arrows, that is a MOD. patches can be downloaded from www.simcity.com

One last question - Are there any good places to download BAT's and LOT's for the original SC4 (I don't have Rush Hour). And please don't mention SimTropolis - for some reason, no matter what computer I use either at home or on campus, it says I need cookies enabled. I hear I'm missing out.
