Jesus.. another beast in my neighbourhood and still no TTC improvements. I'm going to be riding the roof of streetcars pretty soon.

At the rate they're building in this nabe you'd think there's a subway line underneath.

You guys were orignally going to get a subway line, but than in the 90's a certain premier came along and scrapped it. :wallbash:

There was never a planned subway coming anywhere near Humber Bay Shores.

^ha, let's not let facts get in the way!

wow, another ~50 storey tower! and it's perty! looks like the Baziz's Exhibit on Bloor.

Like the majority of torontonians that like and approve of our current mayor, we miss ol' King Harris. Whining about mass transit, mass transit, subway, subway, TTC, TTC... has become more constant than white noise and more annoying than tinnitus! just hang in there for another ~9 years!

Its small base looks more like something that belongs near the core but I like it =)

And you're shocked by this? Didn't you vote for the mayor who doesn't want better service for areas of the city like yours?

Great looking project.

Transit City's Waterfront LRT would have helped...

Transit City's Waterfront LRT would have helped...

It was cancelled (or delayed past 2020 = cancelled) way before Ford.

It was that which caused me to hate the rest of TC.. Send it to the other buttfuck burbs but ignore a dense strip by the lake close to the downtown core... Typical Miller planning. Social engineering at its finest, yet again.

And you're shocked by this? Didn't you vote for the mayor who doesn't want better service for areas of the city like yours?

Great looking project.
My area didn't get any better service under 8 years of Miller.. Ford doesn't change anything.

Your right Ford won't change anything. Does that mean he is trying to screw over the entire city and not just the core? Don't worry, in 3 years our new mayor will improve your area. Until then lets enjoy this proposal.

Honestly, Transit City just wasn't good enough. Do it right or not at all. Transit City would have given Toronto a more extensive system, but a second rate one. I love street cars, but this city needs subways. I didn't vote for Ford, but he seems like the only one who's come up with a plan to build more subway.

We need both. He should leave Transit City alone and push for the DTRL as well. Trying to stop Transit City to build another Lastman style subway is just insane. Talk about a gravy train.

The city can't afford such an extensive subway expansion. Hence we were going to use LRT's.

We were going to use LRTs until we got the money, leadership and ridership to build subways. A small step up instead of a leap.

LOL sounds like you've had to much of the Kool-ade. We don't have the money, the leadership already put the LRT's in place (not cancled) and the ridership to use them. Ford's useless subway will leave so many areas under serviced, and that's why these are his last three years at city hall.

So how about this building eh...?

Taller, Better

I like it... it's kind of snazzy looking... sort of "basket-weaving 101"-esque.
Leggo my Lago!

I've heard the arguments 100 times, but 2nd rate is still 2nd rate. I'm all ears, but why won't selling development rights along new subway routes to pay for the subway work? Will it not raise nearly enough revenue unless one permits vastly taller buildings? Is the opposition to vastly greater height the biggest obstacle or do the numbers just not work?

I live just off King West and the street car just isn't the right technology for high volume routes. If we build more streetcar routes that really should be subways we're going to have the same transit chaos 20 years from now despite having spent billions on more streetcar routes. Commuter gridlock is the most visible problem, but not the most damaging one facing our city. What about the lost business to this city stemming from insufficient infrastructure? Business is mobile and so are business people.

We need to find a way to build subways and keep sending our politicians back to the drawing board till them come back with a subway build out plan. 'We can't afford them' isn't an option for Toronto if we have any ambitions about becoming that city we aspire to be.

Trying to stop Transit City to build another Lastman style subway is just insane.

I don't want a Lastman style subway either. :|

DUPLICATE THREAD MERGED

I'm pretty sure I made a thread about this one ages ago, and this may be the proposal Filip was mentioning.

Anyway, now we have new and better renders to enjoy.

Another beast for the 'Shores. With the massive amount of growth and type of architecture, I consider HBS to be our Miami Beach in terms of skyline.

Love how Humber Bay is shaping up. They have some of the best views of downtown Toronto and you really feel like you're in a beach area. I'm glad Toronto has an area like this and it's great to see some decent height going up. 170m? Not bad!

I'm very partial to this rendering of Lago from Humber Bay Park East.

http://urbantoronto.ca/sites/default/files/imagecache/display-default/images/projects/148/urbantoronto-148-7712.jpg

I can't believe how much it towers above Nautilus, which looks monstrously tall every time I bike by it.

The other rendering looks nicer, but it seems to be the same design. If they would rename it Lego, I would buy a unit in a minute.
