Melbourne - [Los Angeles] - San Francisco - [Houston] Baton Rouge - New Orleans - [Memphis] - New York - Philadelphia - Chicago - San Francisco - Los Angeles - Melbourne. Only took photos in NYC/Philly/Chi.. too seedy to take photos during the day at New Orleans Mardi Gras and San Fran first night was just a right off and on returning was at a hotel near the airport... so only got photos from the thread title cities.

Amtrak is relatively painless getting down to Philly - didnt get the Acela, but just a normal express service (it continued on to Pittsburgh - "The Pennsylvanian"). And what a cracking town, although NeW York is something else, Philly's a really nice change - small and compact, jam packed with all sorts of shit centrally - if you're into early American history, you'll enjoy Philly

Spent a lot of time in the burbs of Chicackers this trip (see below) - well worth it for bars/nightlife. Wicker Park/Wrigleyville etc.

Highlights:
- went to two NHL games, Philly Flyers v Atlanta Thrashers and Chicago Blackhawks v San Jose, well worth going even just to see how much of a spectacle it is (90% spectacle, 10% sport - very enjoyable though) sat next to a guy who had the most wicked Hockey Hair in Chicago and was pretty cool to get in touch with the inner bogan with all the rest of the white trash of Chicago :lol:
- flew on Continental San Francisco to Baton Rouge via Houston and the Texan air hostesses.......... loving the 1980s teased hair ladies.
- the media hysteria when I got back to San Fran and the news ticker on CNN stating "increased radiation detected in California" a week after the Japanese Earthquake/Tsunami. Ahh 'mericans, bless you.
- didn't go as hard in New Orleans this year - I learnt my lesson from last year to stay away from Pat O'brien's Hurricaines and all other ther Daiquiris you can get on Bourbon St. STill though made it into Crescent City brewing this year - sampled their beers for breakfast the morning after the first night at Mardi Gras
- Delta is by FAR the best of the US legacy carriers
- Pulled Pork Sandwiches and The Ribs at Memphis airport - holy shitballs batman
- re: Yards photos above, was a big night in Philly and Philly Cheesesteaks came in handy at the end of the night - tried both Pat's and Geno's - Pat's came out on top.
Will be back within 6 months for business and having my 30th in Vegas next March
