According http://www.metaefficient.com/news/the-tallest-wind-turbines-in-the-us-installed-in-texas.html several Vestas V90 wind turbines in Texas with a hub height of 105 metres and a diametre of 90 metres are the tallest wind turbines in the USA. Is this correct? Are there really no taller ones and wind turbines comparable to Enercon E-126, which has a hub height of 135 metres and a diametre of 126 metres.

I'll take their word that it's right. Who would know anything about wind turbines anyway?

The biggest wind turbine in America arrived in Cleveland Ohio about a week ago see link:

Seriously? Is there really competition for the 'tallest wind turbine'?

One major limitation on their size is the ability to transport their parts to where they will be installed.
Most of the turbines being built here in Wisconsin are shipped in by rail and the blades come in two on three flatcars (the third flatcar is an 'idler' between the two others to allow room for the blades to overhang the cars' ends).
Their hubs, generator housings and pole pieces barely fit on regular flatcars.
Any bigger and they will not fit railroad clearance limits.

World's tallest wind turbine is in Laasow, Brandenburg, Germany. It has a height from 205 metres from ground to tip of rotor blade. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuhrl%C3%A4nder_Wind_Turbine_Laasow
But it is not the most powerful. This is Enercon E-126. It has a height from 198 metres from ground to tip of rotor blade and a power of 6 ( newer models even 7.5) Megawatts.
