Isn't this one of those ones that you and UMdev were arguing about that's not likely to be built?

With all the renewed interest going around these days, maybe we will see this after all and have a bigger Biscayne Wall.

does anybody any have specifics as to when Terra Group is supposed to break ground on this? It's not even listed on their website & the pdf files does indicate it was approved, in 2005! We need links not hearsay on projects like this!

Cool project to bad it didnt break 800ft. Is that due to FAA regulations?

Yes probably, starting in downtown, where it's set at just over 1000, just enough for OBP, it gets lower as you go north. For example Marquis Residences was built exactly 700 feet to meet the 707 limit in that area. I believe it actually topped out slightly higher than expected and is technically slightly over the limit.

It should be pointed out that those drawings have nothing to do with the current plans for the site. Those are the drawings for what the old owner was proposing for the site.

I think bigswingingschlong just came accross the old drawings and since we were talking about the new rumored project he confused the two.

The only thing I've hear about 700 is that it's catering toward 3 and 4 bedroom units and the penthouses will be a massive 10,000 sqft.

What I got from the former marketing director of Arquitectonica is that the Marquis topped out at 708. According to this map, that is as tall as 700 Biscayne can be as well.

Yup, that's the map I was refering to. Did Marquis really end up taller by accident or is it like a maintenance shed on the top or something that's doing it?

Hmmm also according to that OBP is over the limit for that area, or anywhere for that matter.

OBP is planned to be exactly 1010 the limit for that area.

Didn't it used to be approved for 1,049? When was it changed to 1,010? After the recent Miami 21 height and zoning regulations were released? And when you say planned you still mean for a start in a few years, right, definitely not this year?

I believe all your questions can be answered on the OBP thread.

lot across the street from american airlines areana? I grew up here and was living in NYC for the past 16 years and man I am really impressed with all the building that has gone on down here. Brickell is completely different from the last time i was there. Also is Kubik on the upper east and loft 3 still a go?

There used to be a building but they demolished it and eventually it turned into a parking lot. MDC had plans on acquiring that land to build a futuristic high-rise, but sadly that never happened. So far nothing has been planned for that lot.

Welcome to the forum. And I searched 700 Biscayne and found it's one of the original proposed towers from 2005 so I don't know why this was posted here, all that happened was someone else bought the lot. Probably just because it was a good deal. Search 700 Biscayne and go to the other SSC thread showing all the 2005 excitement.

So far nothing has been planned for that lot.You are thinking of 600 Biscayne...the lot that MDC owns. The plans for a building there was called College Station.
The one directly accross from the AAA is 700 Biscayne and at one time was a Terra project to include the Freedom Tower in the project.
Here is an old rendering (pre construction for any of resi buildings that you see), but you can get a feel for the lot across from the AAA and the 700 Biscayne project.

Welcome to page 2

That render looks great. A solid wall of bayfront buildings. All we'd have to do then is throw some sandbags in between em and we'd have a surge wall and tsunami stopper

What was the other proposal from back then for a very futuristic, "glassy" tower with huge turbines? I think it was proposed for an area near the PAC. Anyone else remember that or did I dream it?

Of all the canceled projects in Miami's history this is the one I'm most sad about. It could have been our Effiel tower, our Ghurkin, our Burj al Arab. Not the highest in hight, or the one with the most of this or the shiniest of that. But one that was so unconventional in its shape, so outlandish in it's style of being a building, that it would have defined the skyline of Miami to even to most remote villages in Russia and Africa. Anyone would have looked at that building in a picture of a skyline and said "Oh, so THAT'S Miami huh". Even the Espirito Santo building beautiful as it is, doesn't have that kind of prestige. This building would have... instantly, weather you liked it's design or not!

Cmon Calatrava, Koolhaas, Libeskind, Foster, Pei, Gehry, Architectonica, whoever... paint us your masterpiece, here in Miami.

It's not different than that one in Beijing, China that caught on fire. This is at the end of construction. It's still flanked with scaffolds and a crane. Now that's getting the job done. The fire was acutally quite catastrophic yet they still managed to finish it fine.

Oh my God look at all the scaffolds on it. I just noticed that because it's the full size. They're covering the entire roofline perimeter.

Definitely, Miami-Dade College Station had the most impressive ideas and design in memory.
40 ft of underground parking, rain water reclamation, native plants, wind turbines on the roof, it was an awesome package.

The Penthouse atrium with the basketball courts, swimming pools, and conference space would have had the most incredible views of Miami.

Roark first posted this project, and featured this project as the avatar...it is great to see those posts ressurected. Hopefully, they will get back to work and get this project ressurected too!
