Hello, I'm Ferran, from Barcelona (Spain) and I am living in Amsterdam from 6 months ago.
Here I show some proposals to improve the public transport in this city:

# Retrieve the microbus Stop & Go (which was a mistake to abolish it) becoming 2 circle lines (28 and 29) with the following route (view map):
28: Bibliotheek, De Ruyterkade, Barentszplein, BittenOrangestraat, Prinsengracht, Amstel, Amstelstraat, Rembrandtpelin, Halvemansteeg, Halvemaansbrug, Kloveniersburgwal, Nieuwmarkt, Zeedijk, Prins Hendrikkade, Oosterdokskade, De Ruyterkade, Bibliotheek.
29: Bibliotheek, De Ruyterkade, Oosterdokskade, Prins Hendrikkade, Nieuwebrugsteeg, Oudejids Voorgburgwal, Oude Waal, Geldersekade, Nieuwmarkt, Sint Antoniesbreestraat, Jodenbreestraat, Waterlooplein, Amstel, Prinsengracht, Nieuwe Westerdokstraat, Centraal Station, De Ruyterkade, Bibliotheek.
Timetable: Departures from Bibliotheek:
28: 7 to 22:30 every 10 minutes (Sundays and holidays from 8)
29: from 7:05 to 22:25 every 10 minutes (Sundays and holidays from 8:05)
Route and break time: 40 minutes. 4 cars are required per line.

36: Leave Sloterdijk following the actual route to Meeuwenlaan, from this place, continue for: IJtunnel, Foliestraat, Valkenburgerstraat, Waterlooplein, Amstelstraat, Rembrantdtplein, Reguliersbreestraat, Rokin, Muntplein, Dam, Raadhuisstraat, Rozengracht, Nassaukade, Haarlemmerweg, Sloterdijk.
60: Inversely.

# Join the tram lines 16 and 26. This would allow a direct connection between IJburg and center (Dam, Muntplein)

# Build the earliest possible the metro from Centraal Station to Isolatorweg, closing the circle with the following intermediate stops:
-Haarlemmerdijk (Prinsengracht-Haarlemmer Houtunnen)
-Westerpark (Haarlemmerplein, Nassauplein)
-Spaarndammerbuurt (Zaanstraat-Spaarndammerdijk)
Lines 50 and 54 are rearranged as follows:
50: Gein, Van der Madeweg, Weesperplein, Centraal Station, Isolatorweg, Lelylaan, Zuid, Van der Madeweg, Gein.
54: Inversely.

Especially the closing of the circle-metro line is one of the existing plans of the city. The current Noord-Zuid line has to be finished first, before any other metro project will be started.

The Stop en Go bus was too expensive, the city has to reduce their costs, en this bus is serving only a restricted population. Furthermore, there are numerous alternatives of transportation in the canal area.

They've been talking more about extending the Isolatorweg line toward the new Van Hasseltweg station of the North-South line.
A connection which makes more sense in my view, because it creates new, non-existing connections, and still gives Isolatorweg a connection with Central Station, even though you have to change trains once.

None of these make much sense IMHO, sorry.

I agree with Silly Walks and Grumpey on the Stop & Go and ring-metro service proposals.

On the others:

The proposal to run buses over the Rembrantplein/Rokin won't happen as the infrastructure on the ground can't handle it. Firstly, because it's too busy. Currently some buses take that route during the night when it's less busy, but I can't see any reasonably on-time bus service running that route. Secondly, because the streets just aren't made for it. Especially the turns around the Palace you'll have to make are problematic. The routes you want to serve (Noord-Centre and Haarlemmerweg-Centre) are also reasonably well-served by services to Centraal Station directly already.

The joining of 16-26 is prohibitively expensive because line 26 uses specially adapted trams for the security systems in the Piet Hein Tunnel. The improvement in travel time, marginal as it may be, is also quite uncertain, because very long services are prone to delays.

Also, both of these seem to be based on providing people with connections to the city centre directly rather than through Centraal Station. I don't see the need for that. If people don't want to walk Centraal Station -- Dam (which is stupid, it's 5 minutes) they can take the Noord-Zuid lijn in the future. The whole point of having a transportation terminal near (but not *on*) major destinations is that you don't have to clog up the destinations themselves with transportation infrastructure.

im sorry, but if i look at your map, i really dont see any need for public transportation in that area at all. these are distances easily made on bike, even faster than a bus.

The route for Prinsengracht is easy to do by bike for a young person who is accustomed to cycling, but for an older person and for non-road biking is a really tiring because of the large number of bridges with very steep ramp.

I suggest this another route for the micro-buses connect with the ferries that go from Tasmanstraat to Amsterdam Noord

i encourage your entheusiasm, but it kind of makes it non-public transportation/transportation for old people.
