Originally a farmhouse built by the seafront of Brighton in 1787 by Henry Holland under the command of King George IV. This mighty structure would over the years be redeveloped into one bizarre but awe inspiring architectural masterpeice into a marine palace.
King George IV not content with just a marine palace by the seafront, had a vision to blend his fascination with the Indian and Chinese architecture into a landmark building.
Thus, John Nash the famous British architect entered the scene and between 1815 and 1822, he worked on George IV's vision. By 1826 it was open and combines on the outside Indian styles and Chinese interiors. Its a sight to behold and certainly a one in a million amalgamation of differing architectures.
If any of you are interested in seeing this spectacle (and other Brighton sights such as the piers, beach and The Lanes (medieval streets)), Brighton is due south of London. London Gatwick for comparison is half way inbetween Brighton and London. Brighton is within 30 minutes from London Victoria train termini.
