Gisenyi is a resort city on the northern shores of Lake Kivu. It is considered a safer destination than neighboring Goma due to its distance from the Nyiragongo Volcano.

actually, apart from Kigali, all cities names have changed here are the biggest:

Butare = Huye
Cyangugu = Ruzizi
Kibuye = Karongi
Ruhengeri = Musanze

for the rest, some help is expected:lol:

I'm not sure since the last time i was there, i was 6. Looks very much like Kigali, but the pics are tagged Gisenyi on flickr. I don't know, you who were recently in RWD, what do you think ?

:nono: internet is not a 100% reliable source of information. I first thought about downtown Musanze on those pics...

Rubavu, a gem in Rwanda, is probably the best place despite the potential danger beneath Lake kivu

Ok, i'll be careful next time. In my defense, things change a bit too fast in Rwanda and it's a little hard to separate fact from fiction. A friend one day showed me a photo of the street where I lived and I didn't even recognise it. :ohno:
By the way, what scares me the most is not the gas but the volcano.
