On May 9th, Metrolink introduces limited service on two lines: the San Bernardino Line and the Antelope Valley Line.

Making two intermediate stops in the cities of Rancho Cucamonga and Covina, the San Bernardino-to-Los Angeles train will provide service between the two county seats in under an hour.

Seems like a nice step forward. Interesting to see how many riders there are.

I think that they will find that people will still cling to their cars. But with gas prices acting as a deterrent I may be wrong.

Obviously price of gas is a factor. An hour and a half from Palmdale is a long time, but then again driving at rush hour would have to be much longer. It would be nice to have a true HSR making that trip in 27 minutes.
