yes and i wonder how people bend those grills or brake them....:ohno:....and sometimes the situation is quite funny...people are standing in the middle of the road waiting for the cars to pass..and in the same time the one that was using bridge to cross the road reaches the other end...while the one not using that bridge is still in the middle of the road:lol:

Today i met the Project Manager of Airport section of the Ring road, the portion was going to be opened last month as nearly every thing was completed, but the carpeting by Khalid N Rauf was rejected so they have to remove that that carpeting and now it has been given to NLC, which is going to carpet the road again. he was telling me every thing is ready they just have to redo the carpeting.. every thing is completed so it will be ready to open by december or first few weeks of janurary.

perhaps u should have also asked him to show the architecture plan of the interchange...and then if u had a camera u could have taken a snap of that plan...:) it would have been an excellent work...because uptil now only the plans of saggian interchange(completed) and niazi interchange(completed) are available on internet...

btw can u tell me how u met him ... and do they meet everyone ?..because i regularly visit airport side after a day or two...i shall also try to meet him ...

^^ once again, the final carpeting is still to be done, they quality of the ring road under construction is very good, so wait for the finish product.

one of the example is what i said before, they carpeting on airport section was rejected because of the poor quality. this is not finished yet, two more layers of carpeting is still to be done.

Answer to ur first question is that there's no deadline of this project...it might complete in next 5 years

and secondly if the ring road is to be built as per its original plan (all around the city)...then only 50% of the work is completed up till now

mehmood buti interchange is already open for traffic but it still requires finishing work to be done(lights,lane marking , final carpeting etc)... gt road interchange requires a lot of work ... there's no deadline given for it yet by any official

a circular railway along with the southern loop for future is also proposed and the proposal is sent to planning commission that will complete the feasibility report.

package 19 will be connected to thokar interchange of motorway (southern loop)...and as i said in my earlier post on previous page that design and plan work for southern loop is complete but it will not start in current fiscal year because the funds that were to be used for this loop are now transferred to multan road project

once the ring road is complete then neither the donkey carts nor cycles/motorbikes/rikshaws nothing will be allowed...it will be a limited access road

I think once LRR is complete, the punjab govt. should hand it over to motorway police and should run it on the same regulations as allowed on motorway i.e. speed limit, max weight and kind of vehicles that should be allowed on LRR.

its also mentioned that package 1 - 13 are almost complete...:lol:...a hell lot of work is still remaining and moreover there's no sign of work at package 5(gulshan-e-ravi side)...this package has also not started yet

Airport section of LRR was to be completed at the end of December as said by CM, but the flyover of the Airport Interchange is not opened yet..........

flyovers are completed but not open for traffic :) i managed to have a drive yesterday morning at one of the flyovers since there was no one to stop at that time :D

every thing was ready a month ago but CM was not happy with the carpeting quality so he orderd NLC to take over the project and redo the carpeting, so the whole section has to go through redoing of capreting which is causing the delay, hope it will be ready in 1-2 week time

yes and 70% of the green work in front of airport is already done...wht they need is to construct a beautiful fountain at the entrance...it will give an awesome look

:lol: not that much.but one thing for sure this govt can not finish it in their current tenure because of heavy economic problems.already they are facing a heavy overdraft!.

well the road should finish quite quickly in a few months to ferozpur road, but the rest of the loop remains dead and would take a long time unless malik riaz steps up and takes over the road like he did with canal road as it benefits bahria town mainly.

i believe the whole LRR will be completed in this tenure.. as this project is nawaz sharif brain child.. and shahbaz is trying its best to get it completed.

thats a difficult task :ohno: for this one have to go to project management office of LRR with a good reference! i read the posts of a guy UMIII on earlier pages of this thread! that guy was i think doing a good job ..he posted the maps and designs of interchanges..but dunno why he was banned

salam there was hard comments between umiii & brightside that is y umiii was banned in march & about jamat al islami just ignore them best way to deal wid them. i always enjoyed checking nice post by u guys like today's burki road updated pics thanks 4 nice posting i love the skyscraper highest tower in Dubai just need same like this in our pak & i enjoyed my work of lahore city tower, lahore center, stc, 4 projects of pizza hut, mega tower, park view h.s., some divine group projects some textile mills & some more.i learned more here in kuwait but there is very good work is going on in our pak plz dont mind if u dont like some of my detail work love u guys.

Any projects of such nature do take time and it does not matter if they are being completed in Pakistan or even in the most developed countries like the US. I have personally witnessed many delays in mega projects of this nature in many north American cities i.e, Chicago, Boston etc. The good thing is that Shahbaz Sharif has serious intent and commitment is what it takes. All I know that what I see is good and has the potential to spread throughout the country. Thanks for great photos "strong hearted" and please do continue your good work.

ya CM ordered NLC today to finish phase 6 & phase 7 by the first weak of February.but i think it will be useless to open the ring road portion until and unless the canal bank interchange and gt road interchange are complete! they should open only the service roads of both sides that are almost complete! and within another 2-3 months they can complete those interchanges and then open the ring road

Yes, I visited Lahore in December. The most dissappointing thing is the prevailing darkness everywhere. Believe me I felt very terrible to drive there at nights because I am habitual to drive here in Karacchi where streetlights are even more than enough and one can drive without even headlights on any major or interior road. Thanks to Mustafa Kamal. Shahbaz Sharif must pay attention to install street lights on the roads. If lights are installed on jail road and ferozpur road and the mall, they are not working properly.

nopes :) u can only travel from gulshane-e-ravi to mehmuud buti not stop ! after that u can not move on ring road continuously because overhead bridges are not complete..so u have to move down to service roads and then continue upto barki road

CHIEF Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has directed the officials concerned to evolve a comprehensive system for completion of development projects on a fast-track basis.

He said a strategy should be devised for capacity building of the Lahore Development Authority and execution of mega projects and services of highly qualified and competent people should be acquired for this purpose.

He was addressing a meeting to review the pace of implementation of development projects in the provincial metropolis here on Wednesday. The meeting reviewed the projects of Ring Road, Sattu Katla, CBD, Doongi Ground and parking plazas.

The chief minister said the development projects worth billions of rupees were being executed across the province which would not only provide relief to the masses but would also leave a far-reaching impact on the development process.

Mr Shahbaz said a third-party audit system had been made compulsory for all the development projects and added that the present government considered itself a custodian of every penny of public money and utilisation of public funds in a transparent manner was its responsibility. He said Pakistan was a poor country and could not afford wastage of resources.

He directed the officials concerned to replace the conventional and obsolete system with a vibrant one, using the modern technology, for the implementation of development projects.

He said the Lahore Ring Road Package-7 was the gateway to Lahore and besides planting of maximum trees for its beautification, attractive landscapes and monuments should also be constructed along the road. He said a modern park should be constructed along the Ring Road Package-6 for the provision of recreational facilities and that it should be completely outsourced. He said Package-6 & 7 of the Lahore Ring Road should be completed at the earliest and maximum trees should be planted around flyovers and tunnels.
The CM ordered the officials to prepare a model of Sattu Katla project and he should be given a briefing in this regard. He said all development projects should be low cost but of the highest standard.

Referring to illegal high-rises, Shahbaz Sharif said had officers and staff of the departments concerned shown a sense of responsibility there would have neither been any illegal constructions of high-rises in the city nor the need for their demolition. He said no one was above the law and the purpose of operation against illegal plazas was to convey the message to the public that no one could violate law on the basis of wealth or influence.

Earlier, the Lahore Division commissioner while giving a detailed briefing on the development projects said that work on the Lahore Ring Road Package-6 &7 was in going on speedily and it would be completed in the first week of February.

He said a comprehensive programme had been evolved for development of landscape, horticulture and monuments on the packages. He said that instead of imported electricity polls, locally manufactured polls of the highest standard had been erected on Package-6.

The Planning and Development chairman, Lahore commissioner, Lahore Development Authority director general and senior officers concerned were present.

its not a big village... its pretty small behind it is DHA.. so i believe eventually DHA will buy it or if not you will see some shops coming up there slowly

1-Mehmud buti interchange
2-GT road interchange
3-Canal bank road/Harbanspura interchange
4-Railway line intersection
5-Jallo road overhead bridge
6-Barki road intersection
7-Airport interchange
8-Airport road(Entry/exit flyovers,one underpass and two bridges)

these will be 100% completed in next 2-4 months...and dun forget Saggian interchange is already complete and inaugurated.

ya this portion of ring road was called Band road before not bund :D .. now its known as ring road...only a small portion of band road is now left ...from mehmud buti interchange to daroghe wala chowk! that portion is still called band road!

but it will be useless to complete package 16 bro until and unless interchange at package 11 is not completed :ohno: and this will be quite a big interchange at package 11 ..the work is not started yet

great pictures but there is a lot of dirt on the road...
didn't they clean before they opened this road??
plus there are no markings and other signs on the road..

the section about which ur asking is not officially opened and its still not complete

I think they need to ban bicycles, tractors, carts and pedestrians from entering ring road.. and it should be handed over to motorway police asap.
