Looking at cities that are doing better than us currently, a majority of them have a higher sales tax and/or, in some cases, higher property taxes compared to Tampa. And yet, they have more companies and corporations and seem to have faired better during the recession compared to us.
San Antonio is planning to raise it's sales tax 1/8 of a cent for education, to a cap of 8.25% sales tax. How can San Antonio have a sales tax at potentially 8.25% and somehow do better than us? And they also plan to have light rail pretty soon too. Although some how light rail is a waste of money and boondoggle, cities are still embracing light rail. You would think that cities would realize the huge financial burden light rail has and not incorporate it in it's transportation infrastructure,
So I ask, if put on the ballot for Tampa, would you raise a tax?
