That area was fenced off when I was in Addis, I was wondering what the development would be. It looks decent, best thing is the location. The area around Mesqel square and down the Bole road will be amazing when the new road and all the ongoing projects are finalized.

It looks too big to be situated on bole road, I always get the impression of bole road being a small and narrow road

Bole road is already two lanes on each side and the plan is to expand it even further. Buildings under construction like the one near new york café have similar height.

Teklu,

Nice find! Can you provide the link...

Tarrex,

Actually, Bole road is quite wide with three lanes on each side and a wide island in the middle and wide sidewalks on the peripheries. Also be mindfull that it is at the beginning stages of the sideway expansion.

Yoniii,

Not two but three

Yoniii,

It's painted as a three lane road, but in reality it's fit for a two lane road. If for one second you can get everyone to drive in a straight line and no pedestrians, the cars would be too close for comfort.

venezian,

I guess they fooled me---n it is still April. So it seems that there is no standard for the width of lanes. I always assumed it was three meteres per lane.

The problem with the road or even the lanes is not that they are narrow, its that everyone drives like an idiot...everyone seems to think the white lane marker is supposed to be right under the car, in effect taking two lanes instead of one. On top of that, the PSVs, matatus (the blue ones, whatever they are called in Ethiopia) are taking the outer lane as pick-up point and stop anwhere congesting it...that leaves only two usable lanes...I think Bole road is wide enough and the lanes are standard. But it probably needs to be expanded coz its easily the busiest road in Addis

Bole Rd is plenty wide for three lanes each way; it's just more chaotic than it should be.
