Was just walking by the tv and i saw something saying the valley is now getting extremly relaxed sound laws to allow it to 'flourish' in entertainment. They said the ppl who live there will just have to deal with it lol.

And so they should, Rics (and many other established clubs) has suffered by idiot complainers forcing them to an accustic-only format, or hefty cop noise fines. These clubs were there well before the apartments, and if the people who live there are too stupid to realise that the Valley is a night time hot spot then it will serve them right for not doing a little bit of homework before they handed over wads of cash to live in the area. Next thing they will move out to the Airport and complain about the planes!

There was a meeting today with the state government , city council and interested parties. If what Blend says is true then that is great news!
As a live music follower it pissed me off no end when Ric's had to go to an acoustic format.
LOUD AND PROUD!!

Yeah it was on Ch 9 before, David Hinchcliffe said (of the residents), love the Valley for what it is, or leave. Newman and the Govt representative said pretty much the same, looks like the Valley is immune from complaining fools. Bring it on :)

You really have to wonder how stupid people are. If it were me, I wouldnt buy the apartment unless it had double glazing or unless I could factor the extra expense into it. Or I would just choose to live 5 minutes walk away in New Farm where its a little quieter.

As a general rule - when it comes to things like this, I think people need to consider what was there first (which seems the way they are going with this particular example). If you move to the valley and then complain about the noise you must be an idiot - good example Dorigen with the planes. The problem is that it isn't something that is isolated to the valley - and expanding on Dorigens example I believe there were noise complaints lodged against Amberly Air Force Base a couple of years ago - I mean come on!! There have been a number of examples where council has made stupid decisions based upon complaints, when the things (or people) they are complaining against have been there far longer then the complainers... I think it is about time Council took this stance.

I'm glad they've relaxed the laws.

Good planning decision. :)

You have to wonder about the council and the zoning they use in these areas.

I used to love going to the old bomb shelter bar, underneath the Storey Bridge, it used to be filled with backpacker babes and it was a great night out. But suddenly the area turned from industrial, and a few residents houses who didn't seem to mind a lively bar, to modern expensive units and a couple of motels and the complaints forced them just about kill the venue off.

I haven't been there in a while, but I have heard it's been turned into a trendy bar now.
