That looks fantastic.

The beachfront looks so much nicer than the Gold Coast with all the coconut palms. Ours is just awefull and Gold Coast City Council has absolutely no vision when it comes to the waterfront. There is so much potential.

What is the population of Recife?

Not every beach in the world is lined by palm trees... and clearly you don't know much about the new beachfront around Soul/Cavill - or the oceanway.

Population of Recife, according to Wiki is 4.1 million

Ok its a very old thread, but it needs to be clearly:

Recife has not 4 million inhabitants! :crazy2:

Recife City has about 1,8 million and Recife Metropolitan Area has about 3,8 million... ;)

Looks beautiful city! Good to see another version of Gold Coast. Just a summary of differences and similarities between Recife and Gold Coast:

Recife, Brazil
Hot tropical climate (warmer than Darwin)
Larger city, just almost size of Sydney
Very spread out urban region
Most count of highrise buildings in one city rankings below New York

Gold Coast, Australia
Subtropical climate
Medium sized city
Tourism heart of Australia
Most count of highrise buildings in Australia

The architecture of most of those buildings is just plain awful.

All those people = ugly slum sprawl!!

^^

Why are u saying that? Is there here some kind of antibrazilian feeling? Do you really think that everyone in Brazil lives in slums and that most people here are poors? Do u think that only in Brazil we have slums? And that the brazilian slums are the worst?

Well... Slums are an urbanization problem started because of slavery that occurred in Brazil until the nineteenth century. It's not something that we want to or we cause, this is a wound within our society made by centuries of exploitation by various Western powers and incorporated by ourselves through an elite that did the same against brazilian poors. Its not something to be proud or to despise, because you're talking about the lives of millions of people who are currently fighting for better living conditions. Rather, it is something against which we struggle day after day, through hard work, volunteerism and love for my great country.
Actually there are currently over Brazil a major effort to lessen the amount of slums and that effort is being rewarded with pacification, urbanization of slums and extinction of it. We're doing the right things just like many countries of western Europe did, before they became developed nations.

So i wish you had more respect for my people and for my country, because the people who live in these tall buildings you see in the pictures, on average, have annual incomes similar to the annual income of an Australian. So if they lived in houses, no slums would be formed, but suburbs because they have middle and high income standards. Second, Brazil is an emerging country, what means that yes, we actually have inequality problems, but we getting improving it day after day and even with the social inequality that we still have, surely will be include in the group of developed countries in less than 30 years by the force of our strong and diverse economy and the intelligence of our people.

So more respect please or i'm gonna start thinking that australian xenophobia was not a mith. I'm actually starting to think that the only people really open to foreigners are we, Brazilians, because we do not have that kind of totally free aggression words to none people of any country that visit our Mundo Afora section. It is a pity, because it is assumed that the more developed a country is more educated and open to other people is it society. There seems not to be the australian case, or am I wrong?

Wat? all I was saying is it's better those people live in towers than all have big houses or whatever in sprawl spreading for miles........

The rest of your post is a whole heap of assumptions.
