Maghnia (orthographiée aussi Marnia) est une ville de l'extrême nord-ouest de l'Algerie . Avec plus de 95 000 habitants, elle est la deuxième plus grande ville de la wilaya de Tlemcen après Tlemcen.

Ce lieu était occupé par les Romains et on l'appelait alors Numerus Syrorum.

Maghnia est devenue célèbre grâce au premier président de l'Algérie Ahmed Benbella dit Ahmimed qui est originaire de Maghnia (Marnia).

Située à 27 km à l'est d'Oujda (Maroc), on y trouve deux postes frontaliers Akid Abbas et Akid Lotfi ce sont les lieux d'entrée du Maroc vers l'Algérie, située aussi à 26 km à l'ouest de Tlemcen, 160 km au sud-ouest d'Oran et à environ 60 km du littoral. Connue aussi par ses stations thermales Hammam Boughrara et Hammam Chigueur pour les traitements des maladies dérmatologiques.
