The Xiangjiaba Dam (simplified Chinese: 向家坝; traditional Chinese: 向家壩; pinyin: Xiàngjiābà) is a large hydroelectric dam on the Jinsha River, a tributary of the Yangtze River in Yunnan Province and Sichuan Province, southwest China. The facility runs on eight turbines, each with a capacity of 800 MW, totalling the generating capacity to 6,400 MW. When completed, it will be the fourth largest dam in China. Construction started on November 26, 2006, and is scheduled for completion in 2015.[1][2]

The Xiluodu Dam (simplified Chinese: 溪洛渡大坝; traditional Chinese: 溪洛渡大壩; pinyin: Xīluòdù Dàbà) is a hydroelectric dam project on the Jinsha River, i.e. the upper course of the Yangtze River in China. In early 2005, the Chinese government halted the construction due to lack of environmental impact studies. Later, construction was restarted.[2] If completed, the Xiluodu Dam will be the third tallest dam in the world and a key component of the Jinsha project. The total generating capacity will be 13,860 MW.[3]

The dam site is located near Xiluodu Town, the county seat of Yunnan's Yongshan County. The other side of the river is in Sichuan's Leibo County.

The Guanyinyan Dam is an under construction gravity dam on the Jinsha River 30 km (19 mi) southwest of Panzhihua on the border of Yunnan and Sichuan Provinces in China. The purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power generation and flood control. Construction on the dam started in 2008 and the river was diverted by 2010. The first generator should be operational in 2015 and the entire power station in 2016.[1] When complete, the dam will support a 3,000 MW power station consisting of five 600 MW Francis turbine generators.[2]

The Geheyan Dam (simplified Chinese: 隔河岩大坝; traditional Chinese: 隔河岩大壩; pinyin: Géhéyán Dàbà) is a large hydroelectric dam on the Qingjiang River, a tributary of the Yangtze River, in Hubei, China.[1]

The dam is located in Changyang Tujia Autonomous County (which is part of the prefecture-level city of Yichang), just a few kilometers to the west (upstream) from the county seat.

The dam is designed in 1987,[2] and is equipped with a ship lift capable of lifting vessels of 300,000 kg (660,000 lb) displacement.[3] The dam played an important role in helping to ameliorate the impact of the 1998 Yangtze Floods.

Power is generated by four units rated at 310 MW each, totalling the installed capacity at 1,240 MW.[4]

The Shuibuya Dam is a concrete-face rock-fill embankment dam on the Qingjiang River in Badong County, Enshi, Hubei Province, China. The purpose of the dam is mainly hydroelectricity but it also promotes flood control, navigation, tourism and fishery. At 233 m (764 ft) tall and containing 15,640,000 m3 (552,000,000 cu ft) of material, it is the tallest concrete face rock-fill dam in the world

I was there last Nov. There's a hotspring site (Grand Canyon Hotspring) move to the mountain top from bottom due to the dam construction. It was good! :cheers:

thanks for the info and photos. i remember reading a news article like two weeks ago that say some of these dams being constructed will be finished earlier than 2015. It say something like 2012 or 2013.
