Hello guys

I live in Pudong but I prefer Puxi more.

Pudong is much more cleaner, quieter with MUCH better traffic.

But...

The only shopping mall that is big and good enough in pudong is super brand mall.

AND

The skyline of pudong actually looks really strange.

When I walk in the Huangpu river, most people will take photos of pudong, but I like the night-view of the bund which is one of my favourite. And I do like the skyline of puxi.

Puxi is more historical, more energetic and more beautiful.

So.... what do you guys think?

I live in Pudong too. I love it, the Lian'yang community is absolutely stunning. The area is clean, quiet and very peaceful. But it just seems to me that Pudong is just too far out of no where. The major disadvantage is inconvenience. For me i have to take a good 15 minutes walk to get to the nearest Line7 metro station.

I would like to live in Puxi, where all my friends live and where we hang out most of the time. The thing i hate the most about living in Pudong is that i will have to take the cab home after 11pm when metro system shuts down. This means i will be either the first one to leave my group or will be paying about 80RMB just for taxi ride.

I live in Puxi and I'm planning to move to Pudong for working convenience. I'm not a party guy so it's OK living in Pudong for me. I may move to place near century park so I can do some workout after work. But I agree Puxi is much more vivid and enjoyable than Pudong. I wonder why they just build skyscrapers not more shopping malls/theaters in Pudong.

^^There are two shopping malls for Lian'yang community, one called 大拇指广场 the other called 联洋广场 and will probably satisfy your everyday needs with restaurants, fast food, supermarket and a karaoke :) These shopping malls or rather i like to call them community centres are very pleasing as they are not over crowded.

Workout is very expensive, the one i went to costed me 2000rmb just for a month of membership, but theres probably discount if you go long term.

Puxi's skyline is not bad at all. ;)

I like both Pudong and Puxi, but when it comes to the feeling of "home" Puxi is the clear winner. It hosts all the culture, all events, all history and so on. However, Pudong has its charm sometimes. It's more quiet, more relaxing and somewhat feels like a different city. And give it a few more 10 years of development, and I'm sure it will be more and more convenient. :)

^^ lol

I remember from my several trips to shanghai that Pudong seemed much more empty and quiet than Puxi, of course as it's newer and still developing, but I think they should still have more street activity and make buildings and streets denser.

We got out of one metro station (forgot) and had to walk quite a distance to find the entrance to the SFCW (partly because of the ongoing construction there during the time and we were pretty disorientated lol)

Puxi is too crowded and too much advertisement. For me Pudong is better, better buildings than Puxi and make me feel easier when walking on the street.

I'm a native shanghainese. My 25 years of living in North America makes me now like Pudong better. And I bought a place in Pudong after returning to Shanghai.
