The idea of installing WiFI in Bung Karno sports complex came when Thomas and Uber cup were in Indonesia early this year. Thanks to Cisco, now every event, we will have WiFI in that complex. Too bad the wifi will only activated when big event comes to the city. Like this Asian CUP 2007

Anyway, Arema Malang and Deltra soccer club have 2 new stadium, from the looks, it pretty massive and they got nice grass too.

Looking above list... do you think Indonesia (in term of infrastructure) have the capability to held the soccer world cup? :)

David-80
February 25th, 2005, 02:56 PM
I would say maybe but one thing lack from all the stadium in Indonesia is the safety zone between the players and supporters.

I think the level of Indonesia as a host is to become asian cup host, which will happen in 2007.
But if i would dream... senayan, palembang, persedikab bandung, kanjuruhan malang and the new stadium in Kalimantan (being constructed for PON) are good enough for the world cup. :D

How many groups are in the world cup? 6?

Hey guys, Now Australia are in the Asian Confederation I am very interested to find out the official venues for the Asia cup. There appear to be some great venues in indonesia, the Bung Karno reminds me of the Maracana.

David-80

The venue of Asian Cup will be in Bung Karno stadium and if Vietnam is failed to get support from the AFC then Indonesia might host 2 groups which i think will be hosted in Palembang or the city of Malang. the other two will be shared by Thailand and Malaysia.

Ya noe guys, the stadiums capacity is not 100,000.. it was registered as a 100,000 capacity, but the record crowd was a little bit over 120,000.. and that was against Malaysia in the semifinals of the tiger cup... might as well change the stats bout the stadium... its kinda weird, comparing to Wembley, the stadium is kinda small.. but its actually pretty big...

Hey guys, if u guys know any website with pics of the Gelora Bung Karno stadium filled with Indonesian supprters, please email me... Especially in the semi finals against Malaysia in 2002 & 2004, and the final against thailand and singapore in 2002 and 2004 also... thx guys

David-80
October 6th, 2005, 12:18 PM
Hey, Indo-uk, You right, the registered capacity is 100,000 but the stadium often get fullpacked of suporters who were willing to climb and sit a the dangerous area. I myself who watch the liga djarum final felt its quite scary to see those people were climbing and yet...throwing a bottle of water to the pitch when their team lose.

btw for pictures, maybe you can try www.jakmania.org www.ligadjarum.com www.footballasia.com or www.asean-football.com

Looking above list... do you think Indonesia (in term of infrastructure) have the capability to held the soccer world cup? :)
in termof infrastructure I believe yes
but not in term accomodation

I still remember Indonesia vs Srilanka where PSSI proposed to held it in Bontang (one of the best soccer field in Indonesia) but rejected by AFC because the accomodation issue

(I found the news but the link is wrong)

as bluesky said, in term of sporting facility, yes. indonesia is capable for many world class events. some might need upgrade but we have the fields and the stadium scattered all over the country. we even have the best F1 circuit in oceania.

but in term of accomodation, security, transport, and many other things is not. a county held an international sports event because they want the publicity and income from the events. with no good accomodation, rails etc there will be no income, just billions of spending with no real return. and current indonesia security and messyness will only bring bad publicity. bonek vs hooligans anyone? hehehe

David-80
October 26th, 2005, 04:55 PM
You right dude, but itulah habit dari sebagian besar penonton kita....they want to enjoy the game but dont want to pay, yet if their team lose, they do the vandalism.

For instance, by throwing a bottle of their own urine! ghee!

Sleman stadium is now delayed until further notice. I dont know if they are going to continue the project. As a matter of fact, their local government is now limiting the budget for the PSS sleman. So i doubt if the stadium will continue.

Does anyone have the pictures of stadium jalak harupat bandung? the stadium has the same style like senayan and it also huge.

Looking at the figures, I am surprised to see how relatively small the number of people that those stadiums can hold, apart from Stadium Senayan...
Unless live spectatorship of en masse sports (soccer in particular) become more integrated to the lifestyle of the upper middle class, as opposed to being dominated by "bonek" audienceship like it is now, I don't believe Indonesian cities (other than Jakarta) will see any grander stadiums, hosting 60k or more, being built...

Stadium kanjuruhan in Malang can hold almost 60,000 people

There are two stadium currently can hold until 60k, Kanjuruhan and Jalak Harupat kab Bandung. The newest stadium underconstruction in Kutai might handle almost 60-70k spectators.

Kantor Menpora bangun sport center senilai Rp400 miliar

Go Kaltim Future 2008

Pembangunan Fasilitas Olahraga PON XVII Telan Dana Rp 860 Milyar

KutaiKartanegara.com 25/10/2005 23:26 WITA

Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) XVII Kalimantan Timur (Kaltim) tinggal 3 tahun lagi.

- Stadion Sepakbola (berukuran middle/sedang)

Yeah the hotel looks very grand
I bet the real stadium for the PON which is u/c right now will be much more grand than the hotel

Too bad the hotel build in Samarinda
I afraid it will be abandoned after the PON since Samarinda unlike Balikpapan which is hunger for business structure such as that 8 storey hotel

bukan mas....mereka itu teman-teman saya dari fakultas teknik arsitektur Universitas Lambung Mangkurat Banjarmasin. Warna almamater kami memang sama dengan warna almamater Universitas Indonesia...cuman beda lambang doang...hi hi hi.

Saya juga baru tau hal ini ketika kami berpapasan langsung dengan rombongan mahasiswa UI yang hendak study tour ke Pulau Kumala Tenggarong....sempat kaget... tapi senang juga karena ternyata seragamnya sama he he he....:D:D

Stadion Segiri Rampung Lebih AwalThu, 06/04/2006 – 09:47

(nat)

2. The Stadium is not called "Jakabaring Stadium" but it called "Srivijaya Stadium":)
3. Jakabaring is just a name of sport complex/center/area in Palembang:)

In my opinion, the stadium looked better inside, the pitch itself has one of the best grass in Asia. Also, there is no need to build a fancy stadium in Indonesia, where most of the people that coming to the stadium are mostly "bonek" type of fans......

daripada bangun stadium bagus bagus terus dirusak suporter..mending yg biasa aja...:)

btw, the stadium is a candidate for Asian cup 2007 2nd venue....where most major powerhouse asian football team will compete...like Iran, Japan, South Korea, Australia...etc..

SI JALAK HARUPAT STADIUM, Kab. Bandung
PersiKaB ( Kabupaten Bandung ) official Stadium.

Sorry, the pic is very small and b/w
Courtesy of : Pikiran Rakyat newspaper.

This stadium is big and grande, but unfortunately, it's can't reach international standarts because the infrastructure is still low quality and the location is very far-far away from the athletes hotel.

Stadion Jalak Harupat tak Penuhi Syarat

BANDUNG, (PR).-
Peluang Stadion Jalak Harupat Kab.

No, i dont think so. Bandung's Mayor Mr. Dada Rosada is planning to make East Bandung as a major sports center in Jawa Barat. Including that Persib Stadium. The mayor also considering to build busline from Cibiru - Gedebage. So, i think the mayor and Bandung govt is serious.

Asal nyeplak gitu. Sejak kapan pembangunan taman yg ada fasilitas olahraganya dibilang mengancam pembinaan olahraga??!! :bash: dumb dumb dumb...Atau emang pempropnya kurang komunikasi (common lack of communication) yang biasa terjadi diantara birokrat??!!

Dan emang dasar Indonesia, waktu pembongkaran, gua liat isi barang2 milik persija kayak sofa2, tropi2, dll yang mungkin berharga dibiarkan berserakan aja diluar. Apa penghuninya bener2 gak tau mesti pindahan? Padahal katanya udah dikasih surat pemberitahuan sampe peringatan 3 kali? Duh :bash: dumb dumb dumb...

Kayaknya bukan fans berat deh.

Carlo K Nohra, asisten general secretary director of competition AFC, kemarin meninjau langsung.

tapi u know lah indonesia, ganti pemimpin, ganti lagi kebijakan.... who's to blame??

yeah...good news for Jakarta... btw David, i'm curious about the seat plan. Are they changing the flat seat into single person seat? I mean for the non-vip seat...

??

David-80
August 7th, 2006, 02:00 PM
Yup, they also changing the VIP seats configuration, therefore the capacity reduced from 100,000 to 81,000 seats. They also refurbishing the light, because AFC media wanted the seats section to be lighten up. Just like in Europe or world cup.

Sleman Punya Stadion Baru
Senin, 14 Agustus 2006 | 18:40 WIB

The euphoria of Indonesian football is really high here. Salary of footballers are increasingly high, year by year. But, most of the clubs are funded by local government using tax payers money, which is not good. We need to be more professional, club must abolished that kind of funding.

The most expensive player currently is Emanuel matias de porras for 1,25 billion rupiah. But as of today, other player from Chile who played in Europe before, already reach 3 billion rupiah contract a season, owned by the same club that hired De Porras. His name is Julio gabriel lopez from FC St Gallen Switzerland.

The Asian Football Confederation's 2007 Asian Cup finals will be held in July 2007 (Starting on July 7, 2007, ending on July 29, 2007). For the first time in its history, the competition will be co-hosted by four nations – Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

The Asian Cup has been held once every four years from 1956 onwards, the last of which held in China in 2004. However, as the Summer Olympic Games and the European Football Championship are also held in the same year as the Asian Cup (2004, 2008, 2012 etc.), the sporting calendar is somewhat crowded. The AFC have thus decided to change their tradition, and will be holding the next tournament in 2007, and every four years henceforth from that date.

It is the first major tournament that Australia will participate as an invitee of the ASEAN Football Federation since its move into the AFC on January 1, 2006. It was the first non host nation to qualify.

Qualification for the finals is well underway.

History

The Asian Cup is the premier national football event in Asia and is organised by the Asian Football Confederation. The qualifying phase of the 2007 tournament will be held between 22 February and 15 November, 2006. The four hosts, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam qualified automatically but for the first time, the defending champions (In this case Japan), will have to go through the qualifying round.

In June 2005, the Asian Football Confederation warned Thailand that it needed to improve its facilities before 2007, otherwise it would be dropped, possibly being replaced with Singapore[1]. However, on August 12, the AFC confirmed that Thailand will be a co-host of the 2007 Asian Cup

Four Host

The decision to have four host nations for this edition of the Asian Cup was proposed and presented to the executive committee by AFC president Mohammed Bin Hammam. However, he later regretted this decision and calling it his "mistake". This was due to the financial and logistic difficulties in organising an event across four countries.

He said that "It is proving very difficult for [the executive committee as they] have to have four organising committees, four media centres and there are also financial considerations." He also revealed that "[He would] definitely [not do] it again," if he had the choice.

It was also one of the main venues for the group stage of the 2004 Tiger Cup.

Located in Tu Liem District, 12 kilometres north-west of central Hanoi, the 40,000-seat stadium is the biggest in the country and was built at a cost of US$53 million. Arched roofs cover the grandstands on the east and west sides of the arena, providing shelter for half of the seats.

The area provides excellent training facilities for the teams with two football training grounds conveniently located next to the stadium.

It was Asian cup 1996 when Indonesia played draw 2-2 with Kuwait, actually it was 2-0 Indo, but kuwaiti players did something harsh to the Goal keeper (kurnia sandy) until he got injured so he was being replaced by his subtitute whom lack international experiences.

Terbaik di Kaltim, Sedot Dana Rp 70 M

http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/3331/19012007sport2vx1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

They want to change the shuttlers, I think it's time to change the administrators. The bucks stop at the top.

Indonesia all set for its biggest soccer moment
The Associated PressPublished: June 28, 2007

JAKARTA, Indonesia: Workers have installed a sleek VIP box, bolted down 88,000 new seats and painted every wall, girder and fence in Indonesia's Soviet-era soccer stadium to prepare it for the final of the Asian Cup.

Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno Stadium will host group matches between South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Indonesia along with the July 29 final of the region's most prestigious soccer tournament.

"Everything is ready, new and gleaming, right down to the referees' changing room," said John Halmahera, a soccer official who helped oversee the US$8 million renovations. "We want to be the pride of Asia."

While the country's preparations for hosting the competition appear to be on track, its chances on the field are not so bright after a steady decline in performances over the last five years.

Its current squad is injury-hit and has been unconvincing in pre-tournament friendlies.

Today in Sports
Tennis: Wimbledon cheers its latest underdogTennis: Federer wins 50th straight match on grass in second round at WimbledonAmerica's Cup: The Delicate art of cutting a jib
Boaz Salossa, the national league's top scorer, broke his ankle last month in a friendly against Hong Kong, while fellow striker Saktiawan Sinaga has also been declared unfit.

The side will need to overturn the form book to reach the quarterfinals.

It currently languishes at 143 in the FIFA rankings, 43 places below Bahrain and about 90 places behind regional powerhouses South Korea and Saudi Arabia.

"We must be realistic, we have to look at the strength of our opponents," said coach Ivan Kolev, a Bulgarian currently taking his second stab in five years at leading Indonesia's national side. "According to FIFA, we are at the bottom, but hopefully that can change."

The injuries leave much now resting on attacking midfielder Budi Sudarsono and veteran striker Bambang Pamungkas, who stood out in the warm-up games. Both men played under Kolev in 2002 when the team reached the final of Southeast Asia's Tiger Cup.

Indonesian fans are some of Asia's most noisiest and passionate.

With sell-out crowds expected, the atmosphere could work in the home side's favor.

"The supporters can be like a 12th player, but I worry that too many expectations can also make the players nervous," said Kolev.

Winning or drawing against Bahrain in the first match July 10 is essential if the team is to create momentum and go on to cause an upset.

South Korea, which has won the competition two times, and Saudi Arabia, three-time champions, are the favorites to qualify from the group. They play each other on July 11 in the standout tie in the group.

Bahrain may well provide an upset, however.

The team surprised everyone at the 2004 tournament by drawing with hosts China in the group stage before going on to finish fourth. It plays neighbors Saudi Arabia in what looks likely to be a crucial July 18 match.

Gelora Bung Karno stadium was built in 1962 to host the Asian Games with money from the former Soviet Union, which was then trying to expand communist influence in Asia.

Before the recent renovations, the first in the stadium's history, its official capacity was 100,000, though during big matches an estimated 20,000 reportedly could squeeze into its unnumbered benches.

Authorities say that only those with tickets will be now be allowed in.

Also banned are the hordes of vendors who used to walk freely in the stands hawking steamed peanuts and fried bean curd.

"People may complain, but the new stadium must be safe and clean," said Halmahera. "The supporters must adapt."

Indonesia was the first Asian nation to play at the World Cup finals when it traveled to France in 1938 under its colonial era name of the Dutch East Indies. It lost its only match 6-0 to eventual finalist Hungary and has never qualified since.

Many people put the team's current problems down to poor management at the country's national soccer association. The organization's current leader, wealthy politician Nurdin Halid, was convicted of corruption in 2005 but kept his role as soccer chief.

The coach at the time, former English striker Peter Withe, told a reporter last year of his surprise at having to travel to prison for meetings with Halid, who was released last year.

Real Madrid launching Indonesia academy
tribalfooball.com - June 30, 2007

Real Madrid are establishing a football academy in Indonesia's Bali.
According to the Indonesian Ambassador to Spain, Slamet Santoso Mustafa, the academy, accommodating 200 students aged 9-18 years under Real Madrid coaches, will be very beneficial for Indonesia "not only in the development of sport, especially football, but also in other aspects, such as tourism."

The academy is expected to be based at the new Canggu Club complex.

"The plan is moving forward. However, we haven't decided how to run the academy or what it's going to be like. On July 20, the project manager Juan Murueta-Goyenawill come here to discuss the details of the plan," Canggu Club football coach Wolfgang Pical explained.

KONTROVERSI, AKADEMI REAL MADRID DI BALI

Senin, 25 Juni 2007 pukul 14:55:42 WIB

Sekolah Real Madrid di Bali terbentur PSSI?
http://www.bolanews.com/newsit_images/14026.jpg?1183357779

Liberia: Amidst LFA, MYS Crisis - '419' Flogged Indonesia

The Inquirer (Monrovia)

2 July 2007
Posted to the web 2 July 2007

Michael Gebeh

Amidst crisis between the Liberia Football Association (LFA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) as it relates to the ownership and management of the national team, reports gathered by our sports desk says a '419 team', referring to itself as the Liberia national team, the Lone Star, has been defeated 2 - 0 in Indonesia. The game took place over the weekend in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta and one player who participated in the game is Steve Mennoh.

Our information says the team was put together by a former player of the Lone Star, Mr. Ricky Swen, who reportedly impersonated as an official of the Liberia Football Association. Mr. Swen allegedly received over US$100,000.00 to take the Lone Star to Indonesia to engage that country's national team. Incongruously, Mr. Swen allegedly converted the money to his personal use, selecting just a few Liberian players based in Indonesia to form part of his team. Several other players rejected to join the team on grounds that it was a scam, intended to dupe the LFA, the government and the people of Liberia huge sum of money that could be used for the development of football in the country.

Our report says the LFA got the last minute information of the game and attempts to put a halt to the match proved futile. The swindle by Mr. Swen worked, as the "419" delegation arrived in Jakarta on Friday a day ahead of the game. The delegations was lodged at a luxurious hotel in the center of the city and given a first class reception as a full fledge national team.

In a chat with the Chief Scribe of the local football house yesterday at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium, where he had gone to witness a local game, Mr. George W. Williams confirmed the scam. He said the local football house received a last minute tip about the game and immediately communicated to the Indonesian Football authorities, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the world football governing body, FIFA to put a halt to the match. Unfortunately, Mr. Williams said it was quite unfortunate to note that the game still went on as scheduled.

He explained that the LFA would file an official complaint to CAF, FIFA and other authorities to take action against the Indonesian Football authorities for allowing the game to be held despite an official communication from the LFA.

Meanwhile, several individuals have blamed the scam to the current crisis between the LFA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. They said more persons would continue to rob the country and its people if football authorities failed to come together. They said the lack of cohesion between the LFA and MYS has created several loopholes where individuals will capitalize on to paralyze the country.

Recently an invitation from an international sporting firm to the LFA was turned down by the Ministry of Youth and Sports on grounds that it has cancelled a contract with that sporting firm, where the Ministry was not a part.

He he he Jakabaring?? Pernah lihat live-nya kemarin nggak di Liga Djarum Indonesia on Anteve? SFC vs Persita?

BTW, Capolista buat my Sriwijaya FC:okay: untuk Group Barat:D

SUPER LIGA : HANYA ENAM STADION YANG MEMENUHI SYARAT

JAKARTA, KOMPAS

- ADP

contohnya...? utk pertandingan2 sekelas EPL saja
as a pure Liverpudlian (Liverpool FC fans):) ....kalau gua sama-sama mau liat LFC main tandang... lebih enakan nonton Stevie.G cs pas berkunjung ke stadion2 megah dan berumput bagus seperti di Emirates stadium (milik Arsenal FC) atau ke City of Manchester stadium (milik Man.City FC)

...daripada liat mereka mengunjungi stadion2 kampung kayak Craven Cottage (milik Fulham FC) atau main di rumput2 koyak stadion Stamford Bridges waktu EPL 2006/2007 (punya Chelsea FC)

Old Trafford??? ooops sorry, no comment.... I'm MU hater:bash:

Matheos Viktor Messakh, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

Young Indonesian weightlifter Eko Juli Irawan has successfully made the transition to senior-level competition, winning two bronze medals at the World Weightlifting Championships in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on Tuesday.

The 2006 Junior World Championship silver medalist lifted 124 kilograms in the snatch and 154 kilograms in the clean and jerk for a total of 278 kilograms in men's 56 kilogram class.

The 18-year-old earned the two medals after finishing third in both snatch and total lifts.

For Eko, the performance is better than at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar where he settled sixth.

Eko was only five kilograms behind Cha Kum-Chol of North Korea -- the new world champ -- who lifted 128 kilograms in the snatch and 155 kilograms in the clean and jerk, for a 283 kilogram total.

Despite a matching 283 kilogram total (130 kilograms in snatch and 153 kilograms in clean and jerk), 2006 world champ Li Zheng of China saw the gold go to Kum-Chol because the Korean is one-half kilogram lighter.

Indonesia Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Association (PABBSI) secretary-general Alamsyah Wijaya hailed Eko's success, noting that the points earned in the championships would help jack up the ranking of the country's national squad.

This ranking determines the number of weightlifters the country can field at the Olympic Games in Beijing, China next year.

According to Alamsyah, Indonesia has collected a significant number of points toward the Olypiad, after winning several events in the World Championships in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic last year.

"[We] secured three tickets for men's weightlifting . . . in Santo Domingo and we only need to defend our country rank," Wijaya told The Jakarta Post by phone.

Indonesia has eight men and five women competing in the championships, which will continue through Sept. 26.

The other men are Triyanto (62 kilograms), Budi Setiawan (69 kilograms), Sandaw Nasution (77 kilograms), Rohman Hidayat (85 kilograms), Tarso (94 kilograms), Reynaldi Zaenal (105 kilograms) and Dedi Apriadi (115 kilograms).

"Our next target is to raise our women's team rank high enough to win a ticket to the Olympiad," Alamsyah said.

On Monday, female weightlifter Citra Febrianti finished sixth in the women's 48 kilogram class after the 19-year-old lifted 82 kilograms in the snatch and 102 kilograms in the clean and jerk for a 184 kilogram total.

The other members of the women's team are Octa Dwi Paramita (53 kilograms), Kardewi and Prapti (both 63 kilogram class) and Shinta Darmariyani (75 kilograms).
