The construction process in Tabukashvili Street lasted for few months. On the ground, the old police station was rehabilitated and replaced with a new 5-storey office. The new police station is equipped with contemporary machinery in accordance with international standards. This is the 17th building constructed within the Infrastructure Development Project of Georgia`s Interior Ministry. Over 70 people have been employed in the new station. Vano Merabishvili gave interview to the channel from Tbilisi. Reforms carried out in the law enforcement structures of Georgia were discussed in the interview with the Georgian minister. Vano Merabishvili said one of the main achievements of the reforms was the population`s increased trust in the police of Georgia. In the same TV-show the Ukrainian interior minister also took part. The mentioned cameras are intended for Patrol Police crews and for patrol-inspectors throughout Georgia. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, tender on adjustable surveillance cameras is being held in open and transparent environment. Public was informed on equipping patrol-inspectors with cameras before the tender was announced and It is also notable that presentation on the mentioned subject was also held for media. Video cameras are applied for monitoring Patrol Police employees, to raise credibility in defending human rights, to expose objective reality and in order to evaluate the rightfulness of decisions made by patrol police officers in particular cases. In accordance with definitions provided by the law, civilians will be warned about video recording in advance by a patrol-inspector. Similar methods are approbated in the United States, Great Britain and a number of European countries.
