zergcerebrates September 27th, 2004, 09:49 AM The airport itself is not bad, nice design but why on earth would they put those kind of stairs in the airport? It surves no purpose people can use escalators for that. You wouldn't expect a lot of poeple to use stairs with all the baggages with them.
zergcerebrates September 27th, 2004, 09:51 AM I hate it when they put Chinese words on top of buildings, its hideous. I like Shanghai Railway for the most part. Need to see the interior first.

Suncity September 30th, 2004, 11:19 PM Very impressive!
Tell me something about China's airline industry please. I know it is the second largest in the world. How many domestic airlines do you have?
Please post pics of all different Chinese airlines planes. I would love to see them.
snake October 1st, 2004, 06:10 PM I don't know exactly how many airlines in China now, because some merges or some splits happen so often. 15-20 years ago, there was only one airline--China People's Airline--is the mother of all current Chinese airline, and of course they all are state-owned. the biggest 3 are Air of China(Don't be confused with China Airline), China Eastern Airline, and China Southern Airline, and many other local airlines.
Here is a good website collecting many sorts of airplane is many airports, so probably it concludes all different airlines planes. The guy I believe is from HK, so it has more pictures from HK and other southern Chinese cities
http://www.geocities.com/edwardairport/eng.html
For example from Hong Kong Chap Lap Kok New Airport, there are

snake October 1st, 2004, 06:53 PM The ranking if Chinese airports by passengers handling in 2003. In 2004, the numbers are all increase pretty much, for example, from Jan-August in 2004, Shanghai 2 airports have already handled 34million passengers, more than whole last year. Shenzhen airport Jan-Aug 2004 handled 9.5million people, close to whole 2003 year.
There are 126 airports on the list, I give the English name for top 50 airports.

NCT October 9th, 2009, 10:35 PM The railway stations are all very impressive, but aren't they a tad too big? I know they need to be capable of handling large volumes of passengers but a station that's too big is a nightmare to walk through and navigate. I do rather suspect that if it were not for the intricate entry system, a smaller station could still handle the same volume by reducing passenger dwell time. Also, they really need to improve the channellisation of road traffic on station and airport forecourts.

Most of the big stations have very efficient designs, for example Beijing south station has only around 10 easy to see platforms all available from a large central hall while Beijing main station is a confusing labyrinth of tight crowded smoke-filled corridors with auxiliary platforms in random places. Same with Tianjin station before its renovation, but now it's as convenient as Beijing south.
