They haven't even got the masterplan study started and they're already making proposals and deciding on the technology.

i think this project is state goverment project....but they didnt notice the feasibility study.....otherwise become like white elephant project...

abedeen resort in kepala batas 5 star resort all like nonsense..very big project but at last bancrupt...what a waste of money..idea by former PM pak Lah....

Due to space constraint in the Penang island, monorail will be a attractive there.

For Seberang Prai, including the cross straints tunnel, it may be more feasible to run on metre gauge railways, i.e. riding on some the existing KTM lines. Longer distances, more economical, more space there.

I looking foward to the proper feasibility studies to address all these details.

i thought they said the study almost completed month agoThat's the pre-study for the study which will lead to the plan for study of the masterstudy plan.

Or something like that.

I think the one completed a month ago was the Georgetown Local Plan - while this is a Penang Transport Masterplan.

actually, monorail or LRT has been proposed in all over Malaysia. Proposal is proposal. The question is when or will it will b built?

it's funny when areas such as shah alam and subang jaya are still served by the lousy KTM komuter. and suddenly, woah, in nibong tebal and we use LRT/monorail maa! tak main la komuter! :lol:

i have no idea. i doubt if this project might even kick off.

i disagree having monorail is best suited for penang now....what is priority must look into...maybe 50-60 years then monorail can be a reality in penang..

the goverment must start the MRT project in the klang valley because Klites need a comprehensive metro lines with connectivity with other rail lines and to reduce traffic congestion.traffic congestion in KL is very bad nowadays....so they deserve better public transportation network...

we cant be like other big country like China or even India whereby they have MRT or monorail in their big cities such as Shanghai,Tianjin and Guangzhou(china) or Delhi and Mumbai (india).their population is reaching millions so MRT or monorail is much sought.

even is SEA region,no other second city have any monorail in the construction lists or even started....they must put priority to the capital city and its surrounding...:)

well i say the monorail is long due well at least in the island lah..
monorail r perfectlah,for mid density, land constrain ,not very big city like penang

most importantly,
u can't go under as png soil is terrible,population density is not very high
go at grade n u anger png road worrier (the best in malaysia tau)
go elevated n annoyed the NIMBYism is very much alive n kicking n screaming in png


but importantly what to do when it entered UNESCO zone? will it not look weird?

hard to believe this project will started in this few years.
I'm sure this project will be constructed in penang island first before seberang perai & kulim.
Another thing, better expand this route from kepala batas to sungai petani!!!
