Ok here it is. After first hijacking Michs' post, I now started my own. Finally find a normal way to store my pics.

These are some (bad quality)pictures from the drawings I made. Unfortunately,I never have time to continue with them. To busy with work, travelling and partying. I never had any education in drawing or arts or whatever,I dropped out of school when I was 18 so u can say...I don't have any eduction at all:)
Here are 3 different ones I made, they are all 70 by about 40 cm. I made some close-ups for details,I hope u like them.
and for those who want to play a game:there are 32 different, famous, skyscrapers in the first one. So tell me, which ones are they.enjoy

this one.

http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~gkoning/IMAG0108.JPG

and this one is the oldest.I made the picture in 1999 in one of the coolest cities on earth:Miami.I finished the drawing in 2000.U can say that this was my first 'big' project.

and this one is one the drawing board for 2 years now, what I said:no time. Maybe I will finish it one day. It's from a picture I made in 2002 in Chicago

http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~gkoning/IMAG0111.JPG

and this was it, I hope u liked it.Now tell me which buildings u saw.

*UPDATE*

Maby it's easier I put all the drawings that are in this thread in post 1:)

Wow... of course those are fantastic... how long do you spend on these...? You must have so much patience!

..btw I think 18 is quite a sensible time to finish school.. I think if you studied art for longer then they wouldn't like your pics unless they looked like a chimp had rolled on them so maybe it's best you just preserved and developed you talent on your own. ( although things might have changed in art ed since I was that age... ) ;)

I can only see:

Eiffel Tower
Pan-Am Building
Petronas Towers
Sears Tower
Hancock Building
The tall one from Singapore :D
1 Canada Square
Bank of China building, Hong Kong
WTC twin towers
Transamerica Pyramid
Central Plaza, Hong Kong (not sure about the right name)
Citicorp Building
Empire State Building

I recognise about three others but don't know their names...

thank u, thank u

I don't know anymore how long I worked on this one. Couple of hunderd hours. Sometimes I didn't touched it for a month. The next month I was working on it every free hour i had.
I have some pictures somewhere in different stages, they are pretty cool to see, maby it's handy for people who also want to make something like this

:) Thank u once again. That world skyline drawing isn't even my best. I made one for my uncles wedding, he's a big fan of my work. He wanted to buy that one, it's not for sale(by one million I start thinking:) )so I made one specially for him and his new wife. It's from a picture I made in the summer of 2001 in New York. The details are even better, I asked him to make a picture of it. As soon as I get it, I will post it.

and for the people who wanted to buy a copy. A guy at my friends work is a modern artist, he said it costed like 50 euro to print it..... Poster quality. It's way to much in my opinion. I can make just a normal copy under a machine, no idea how it will look like, probably like shit. ah well, maby I'll try

Ok here they are, I finally got some scans. The quality isn't perfect but u'll all get the point.
It's from a picture I made in the summer of 2001.......and u all probably know from which building it has been taken.....
It from a normal picture that I enlarged to my normal size, about 40 by 70. Advance of this that u can add so much more detail then the original. I don't know how much windows it has, but after the first couple of thousand u get pretty sick of it:)
I had to search to my books and the net to find close ups from building that I couldn't see on the picture.Especially the church has alot of detail, the trees came out real good.
At the right u can see just a little bit of the beam from the tower. So for the people who never visited it. this is how it was...

ow, and I was asked several times how I made the the other ones, I found some pictures(not from the digital age) and I will scan them as soon as I have time. U can see the buildup from white paper to the landmarks to all the details, u will like it

2. Scan in your poster at high resolution, put online (or send by mail) the high-res files to forum-members so we can print them and put them on our walls?

Thanks for the comments you all. Again someone who wants to buy a copy, so now I'm sick of it:). I'm going to try to approach a poster company or something, who knows what happens:) I can't copy it under a normal copying-machine, it will look like shit. So I'm going to try something, my cousin is going to help u, he's pretty smart in such things,we'll see.

I've some spare time a gain so I finally going to continue on the Chicago one. After that I don't know, maby a cathedral or something, just something different.

superb!
question, How long did it take to draw such enormous art?

Prologic
January 9th, 2005, 05:39 PM
I found some 'under construction' pictures. I had some requests to tell how I worked, maby this will help.

On the bottem of the second pic you can see the grid I first calculated and drawed on the board under my paper, beceause the paper is so big the dissapearing points are 1 meter away or something, impossible to work with.So I just drawed them on a small piece of paper, enlarged them and drawed them there. If u look closely u can notice them under the paper.

Then first a simple street patern. It's easier to draw when everything is square instead of diagonal lines, only on the right there is one diagonal street beceause I had to fit in the Flatiron building.
Then I started the computer for some nice pictures where I could work with. I only put the carcas of them, and from left to right, else it will get all blury when u accidentily touch it.

http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~gkoning/UC1.JPG

Filling up all empty space with little fantasy buildings.
I had to do Petronas all over again, the above half is way to big compared with the lower one.and it just happend to be that those 2 where the toughest to draw :bash:

http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~gkoning/UC2.JPG

and now drawing all the detail.Sorry, they're not high resolution, but this is made with a normal camera and I had to scan them.

Four and a half year after my last post....Time just goes to fast....
Anyway, didin't do alot after that post. I decided to change subject en started to draw churches and cathedrals. The problem is that these are about the most complex buildings on earth. The Sacre Coeur took me a few months, despite it isns't a really big drawing. Meanwhile a visited Italy and had many pictures taken. Visited the Duomo in Milan, in my opinion this is the most complex and detailed Cathedral in the world, it's simply amazing. And I had a new project. Started it, but was shocked with the details I had to put into it.Left it for a while, picked up again and left it for a year again. Went travelling for half a year and tried to finish it again when I got back. I finally signed it last week, 3.5 years after I started it. I'm glad that's done....See if you like it.

You mentioned in your very first post 5 years ago you have no arts education or training...well I have to say you would have put most of my fellow art college students to shame, your drawings are quality. You have a intrinsic use of perspective which is something that usually has to be taught, so I am very impressed.

amazing work, have you thought of drawing floorplans for the Cathedral

Prologic
December 10th, 2009, 09:32 PM
No, i haven't had any arts education or college, maby a wrong decision when I was younger. Dunno if it would brought me further. Really want to sell them one day, copies that would be probably. Still have to find a decent place that can print them.

@Ausie.Nope, no drawing of the floorplan. Like to work with perspective, floorplan is a bit to flat:) I have something else for you. The sydney harbour, it's 100 by 50cm. The details arent shown that good beceause the picture is taken a bit further then usual.

@prologic, great work dude, purely amazing, however i hate to be a pain but you spread it out a little to much, the bridge/opera house are a little closer to the highrises, other than that absolutely nothing wrong can't even find one building missing but the australia square may be missing, i think from that angle it would be behind other buildings, again amazing work

have u thought of possibly drawing individual buildings/skyscrapers, from a sort of front on perspective. i think it would be very nice to see some buildings by themselves
p.s. (by buildings i generally refer to 200m+, but lower are alright)

Might draw some skyscrapers from the front once, busy with a panorama from Amsterdam.
And eh, you're wrong about the Opera House, I checked it with my own pictures I made from that angle. Google a image taken from Mrs. Macquaries point, and you'll see that it's perfectly correct:)

@Mike____
Visited alot of your nice cities in Flanders, but never went to Brussels.Really want to go there, nice lanes and perspectives over there. One day mate, one day..
