Rocks/cliffs have fissures, and being that water "seeks its own level," it will always find ways of flowing and not remain stagnant.

Guys, please include a short description or instruction how to go there, or some links especially to the less-known waterfalls. The reason we have this thread it is because we want to go there! :D
Kanlaon Volcano, Negros Island (borders both Negros Occidental and Oriental)
2,495 meters above sea level
average climb duration 3 days 2 nights
best climbing season:
Dry season: April-May (peak at holy week)
Monsoon Season: October-December (peak October)
note: most of fatalities on climbing Kanlaon Volcano were during monsoon season due to its thick fog, temperatures as low as 6 degrees celsius, steep and slippery cliffs and ravines and flashfloods along dry riverbeds (former pyroclastic flow and lahar gullies)
Warning: as an active volcano with 26 recorded eruptions (1996 killed 3 climbers); latest activity 2010 phreatic explosions; a 4-kilometer permanent danger-zone prevails due to the volcano's unpredictable explosive nature. the volcano is also the central feature of the Kanlaon National Park, a protected wildlife area of Negros.
only a group of 9-12 people are allowed with 3 groups at a time within the Kanlaon National Park.
A guide is required per group at Php 500.00/day
each climber should register at the Provincial Admin Center-Mount Kanlaon National Park Admin Php 320 (220 for students)
should be physically fit and able. LPG and butane stoves are preferred since use of forest wood is not allowed.
Trails:
Guintubdan Trail at Sitio Guintubdan, Brgy Ara-al, La Carlota City, Neg.Occ
(considered a must for starters)
Wasay Trail near Mambukal Mountain Resort, Brgy Minoyan, Murcia, Neg.Occ.
(average to difficult but more challenging)
Mananawin Trail at Brgy Mananawin, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental

Bislig, Surigao del Sur
Tinuy-an Falls is a waterfall in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao.
Its magnificent cascades are found in Borboanan, Bislig City, a one hour ride from Mangagoy, center of trade and commerce in Bislig City. About 55 meters high and a breathtaking width of 95 meters, it is said to be the widest in the country. Centuries old amazing giant trees, ferns and vines in a thick rainforest envelop your ride through thick forested hills that enclose the falls. Islets are on the swimming ground, with slippery logs where you can cross for a good view, plus multi-layered stones as pathways. Every morning, the area is blessed with a sprinkle of a rainbow that appears between 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

KulasKusgan May 22nd, 2011, 03:19 AM Enchanted River
Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur
This little known town is blessed with a hidden treasure --a stunning blue river nestled within a mountainside and protectively covered by a forest. Its dark tinge comes from the Pacific sea pouring in from a deep underwater crevice. To local folks, it is said to be enchanted. Full of rich marine fishes swimming in the deep blue, no one is said to have ever caught one. Once you take a dip in the cool, clear waters, you don't want to come out.
Hinatuan can be reached by land from Davao in an estimated 7 hours, or via Bislig City in less than 2 hours.

Long shot, approaching Kangpongkol Falls.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3304/5753442868_9fcbbdeda4_z.jpg
Shot taken upon reaching the falls. In the picture are my two guides who patiently helped me get a motorcycle, find another way to the falls when I decided not to risk my life traveling in the worst road I've ever encountered in my life, and cross the river.
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5268/5753634102_953b520602_z.jpg
What the locals call "Embudo." This is a funnel-like part of Kangpongkol although medyo malayo ito sa falls. Sa medyo itaas pa ito ng falls. Malakas ang bagsak ng tubig dito.
Maganda ang Kangpongkol Falls kung pag-uusapan ang itsura. But I wouldn't recommend it to my friends yet. Talagang delikado ang daan. Konting miscalculation lang ng driver mabubuwal kayo at babagsak sa mga bato. I will have to wait na ma-semento nang maayos ang kalsada doon before I tell my friends to visit it. And I hope magawa ang road doon soon. Ang magiging tagos daw ng road na yun ay Lope de Vega.

Hinatuan can be reached by land from Davao in an estimated 7 hours, or via Bislig City in less than 2 hours.

nagdilang anghel nga
I recently went there as I wanted to bring my new friend who's got a gift of "third eye" :naughty: because I'm very curious of what he'll "see"
surprise! the cottages on the other side of the riverbank was now clean and maintained :okay: most likely the other lousy caretaker got a reprimand and the place turned over to another who took better care at maintaining it.
got curious though why my other friend, instead of watching over the cottage with our belongings, was turning his back instead, yun pala may "nakita" na
anyways I sort of "dragged" him (despite his reluctance ) further to the interior and surprise again! the mineral rock formations along the river was literally "growing" and the place is now a beautiful complex of about 3 or 4 small waterfalls, when some of these weren't that pronounced yet some months ago, here's my pic of the newly created waterfalls:
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r253/artrocket/waterfall2.jpg
there was another smaller waterfall with a small cave on its side, we swam to take a closer look but my friend swiftly turned back kasi may "nakita" na
naman
I excitedly told them there was a nearby old bunker constructed by WW2 Japanese soldiers above the waterfalls where they once waited in ambush, but hindi na sumama yung mga kasama ko  so I went there alone, and while there wow I got a gift to witness this strangely unique, beautiful plant so I took a pic to share it:
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r253/artrocket/waterfallplant.jpg
but then not everything's "perfect" because a certain area revealed basuristas had recently prowled over it :ohno:
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r253/artrocket/waterfalltrash.jpg
but it seemed mababait yata ang mga "nakatira" duon because even if the basuristas may be hit with thunderbolt without having bothered by conscience, they chose not to  malamang the basuristas would be the kinds who would willingly join with coal plant-cheering jejemons planned to be built in davao :bash: :hilarious
generally it was a great energizing trip and we definitely enjoyed it, even including my "gifted" new friend :naughty:

Tulad yung maliit na falls sa Sagada, hindi kaaya-ayang tingnan na kasi "dugyot" na ang paligid.

Aliwagwag Falls
A towering waterfalls considered by hydraulic engineers as the highest in the country and regarded as one of the most beautiful falls in Mindanao. It is a series of 84 cascading falls appearing like a stairway to heaven with various heights among the steps ranging from 6 to 110 feet. Overall, Aliwagwag Falls is 1,110 feet of cascading energy and 20 meters in width. All these in the midst of a virgin forest. One has to cross 13 rapids to get to the river at the foot of the falls.

Lake Balanan, Siaton Negros Orienatl Philippines
Balanan Lake is located in Sitio Balanan, Barangay Sandulot, Siaton, at the southern end of the Island of Negros . It is 10 kilometers of good, partially cemented road from the South National highway at the western end of the Siaton Bridge . The Lake is a 20-25-minute picturesque drive from the highway junction.
It is a “humerus ” bone-formed body of water oriented along a northwest-southeast direction with an area of 24 hectares. It is bounded in the east by the Balanan mountain range and on the west by the Nasig-id mountain range, both of which arise from each bank steeply to a height of more than 200 meters. The southern side is the only low and open area. There are a number of farms and farm houses along the hillside facing the lake, and five houses at the south-eastern end which is very close to the water line. The lake is 285 meters above sea level and is fed by the Lamarao, Balanan and Managob-sob creeks, located at the northern end. It has an exit located at the southern end and drops into the Siaton River .

ISwitch July 8th, 2011, 03:23 AM Dagupan’s river cruise’ docking site opens
by Venus H. Sarmiento
DAGUPAN CITY, July 4 (PIA) -- The new spanking docking site of the city’s river cruise is now open to the public after its blessing and inauguration at the Dawel area Friday.
City tourism officer Mary Rose Teng-Mejia said the docking site was a realization of a dream and a concrete reminder of what Dagupan is –‘Pandaragupan’ or meeting place.
Mayor Benjamin S. Lim recalled how several months ago, he was thinking of how to improve the city and increase employment. “We thought of zeroing in on tourism as a vehicle for bringing more tourists to Dagupan and jobs to Dagupeños.” he said.
With a limited space, he thought of the river as a major attraction, inspired by the success of the Loboc river cruise in Bohol. “If Loboc can attract tourists, how much more our rivers which are pristine, clean and green,” he said.
The cruise, however, is just the ride. The challenge, he said, is how to make the ride more exciting.
Bayan Muna representative Teddy Casiño, who is in town for several consultations with his constituents, graced the event. He praised the city government for the ‘brilliant idea” and was curious about how the project would come out.
“I hope for the project’s success and may this serve as a model for other provinces which have such beautiful rivers as yours, “ Casiño exclaimed.
The ‘Daungan Ed Dawel” took less than three months to construct. The river cruise was originally part of the activities for the Bangus Festival and had a docking site at at San Marino, a private subdivision. Because of its success, the city government decided to make a docking site of its own.

by Danny O Sagun
DAGUPAN CITY, July 1 (PIA) -- This city’s extensive river systems crisscrossing the landscape are now being developed to lure visitors and tourists and thus become a potential rich revenue source.
The River Cruise, launched during the month-long Bangus festival in April, is a wondrous romantic journey along the serene Dawel-watak river featuring lush mangroves, migratory birds, long winding river with clear waters.
Since its launch more than two months ago, Dagupenos and their neighbors and even people from far places have the opportunity to enjoy a free ride which averages about 45 minutes to one hour.
The Dawel-Watak river system, a favorite place for migratory birds because of the lush mangroves on both sides, is bigger and longer than the Loboc river in Bohol, said Mayor Benjamin S. Lim, who, as a successful businessman, has been looking for ways for the city to excel more aside from being a trading, educational and health center in the North.
The river cruise utilizes floating “nipa huts” built on a platform attached to two parallel bancas. A motorboat with a four-horsepower engine and attached to the back part steers the floating hut.
Busy ferrying riders are two huts which can accommodate up to 25 persons and a bigger one that can hold up to 40 people.
Now that that a public docking area was already built along the national road below the Dawel bridge, it is now easier for people to access the area. Before, the privately-owned San Marino dock was temporarily utilized.
The docking area was inaugurated on Friday afternoon.
Riders could not hold their excitement as they make their trip. “Oh! beautiful, what a sight,” is always overheard from them.
Tourism Regional Director Martin Valera joined the initial cruise with Mayor Lim playing host.
The Bangus Festival which itself has been drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors yearly. The festival, which usually opens on the first week of April and ends on May 1, has been made part of the traditional Pistay Dayat (Sea festival).
The mayor said the city’s inner rivers of Dawel and Watak are much greener and more serene than the one in Loboc which has successfully projected its River Cruise project.
He, however, stressed that the most important thing is for the city to be able to create job opportunities for the people.
“The boats are made here in our city so makakapagbigay tayo ng trabaho sa mga boat makers. Then we will hire cooks, waiters, and a person who will steer the boat. At the same time, we will be more conscious in making our rivers cleaner this time kasi ito na ngayun ang minamarket natin,” he said.
Valera expressed confidenced the project will become a hit with the marketing capability of the mayor. (ANL/DOS-PIA 1 Pangasinan)

MOTORCYLE TREKKING/RAPPELLING/CANYONING
Niludhan Falls is a 40 meters high and 25 meters wide waterfalls. This falls is situated in Barangay Dawis which is 43 kilometers away from the city proper. Aside from its panoramic view, the place is ideal for extreme sports like motorcyle adventure, rock climbing, and rappeling as well as for leisurely activities like trekking, swimming, and picnics.
One had to pass long and winding rough roads to reach to this isolated but majestic looking place. Motorcycles and 4x4 wheel drive vehicles are the only modes of transportation for one to reach the spot that's why it is very ideal for motorbike adventurers. It might be a long and ardous journey but a trekker will forget the agony of the road once arriving there. Niludhan Falls is a sight to behold. A stretch of flat wall about 5-stories high and has 3 falls cascading down to a deep aquamarine body of water. It is surrounded by lush green vegetation watered by the mists from the falls. The long journey is more than enough to bargain for in order just to have the eyes laid, feast, and devour upon the grand view of the Niludhan Falls.

CANYONING
Canyoning is traveling in canyons using a variety of techniques that may include other outdoor activities such as walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling, and/or swimming. Although hiking down a canyon that is non-technical (canyon hiking) is often referred to as canyoneering, the terms canyoning and canyoneering are more often associated with technical descents — those that require abseils (rappels) and ropework, technical climbing or down-climbing, technical jumps, and/or technical swims.
Canyons that are ideal for canyoning are often cut into the bedrock stone, forming narrow gorges with numerous drops, beautifully sculpted walls, and sometimes spectacular waterfalls.
One such waterfall is Pulangbato Falls which is located in the Ocoy Valley in the town of Valencia Negros Oriental. It is aptly named so because of the waterfall’s seemingly red river water which is caused by the presence of natural reddish rocks found in the area. Pula is the native word for red while bato, for rock. Thus, if interpreted, the name would be red rock.
Like many other waterfalls, swimming lagoons and pools in the town of Valencia, Pulangbato Falls is blessed with calm and refreshing waters. This is mainly because of Valencia’s geography – 60% of its land composition being hilly and mountainous – that the climatic temperature is always moderate to cool.
Pulangbato Falls has a wide cascade. The water pours down into a swimming hole that is also deep enough for high dives. Enthusiasts clamber up to a nearby rock that functions as a diving point and free fall into the water basin. The shape of Pulangbato Falls has been considered unique because of its layered structure. At the first tier, the cascade begins narrowly and widens progressively as it moves down the next levels. At a distance, the waterfalls look triangular in shape.
It is also the color of the water in Pulangbato Falls that makes it more special. It appears to be red but quickly turns clear once taken out from the river. It must be only a reflection of the red rock formations that make up most of the landscape. Surrounding the waterfall is thick foliage of wild plants and vegetation coupled with some trees. The ambience is rather calming in an unsophisticated kind of way because of the impression of being far from civilization.

LAKE BALANAN
The Hidden Natural Beauty
If Magellan didn't sail, it would have not been proven that the world is round. If Jacques Cousteau didn't dive, the mystery of the ocean floor would have not been uncovered. If Columbus quits his voyage, the New World would have not been discovered. It makes me wonder, who could have been the unknown explorer who dared to trek and discovered Lake Balanan?
Lake Balanan is situated on the secluded forested mountain of Siaton and it is 10 kms. away from the National Highway. The lake is surrounded by mountain ranges and it would take a 4 wheel drive vehicle to reach in this high altitude place. To imagine, before this tourism hotspot got developed, it would have been an ardous task to navigate to this far flung forested area with no clear path to thread upon. To the one brave soul who discovered this place years ago, thanks to you as this beautiful scenic place would not have been enjoyed by lots of people
Last week, we went to Lake Balanan to discover the place by ourselves. On board a van, we trek 10 kms. through rocky, and then cemented, and then rocky, and then cemented roads. Though it is not really as difficult it may seems. Lake Balanan is located 10 kms away from the main highway and while Siaton is about 39 kms away from Dumaguete and so all in all it would be a long journey. That would make one feel the thrill of adventure as the travel goes by.
Lake Balanan is a lake set Siaton, Negros Oriental, Philippines. It is a freshwater lake in the forested mountains of the southern portion of the island of Negros, with a shape resembling a figure of eight, the narrowest point between the two main parts of the lake being only 90 metres wide. The lake's area is 24 hectares and it is 285 meters above sea level. The lake is surrounded by mountain ranges, and is fed by 3 tributaries, all placed in the northern end. These are the Lamarao Creek at the northeastern corner with 2 waterfalls, the Balanan Creek at the middle of the northern end with another waterfall, and the Nasig-id Creek at the northwestern end.
While trekking up the moutain of Siaton, you can view the green sceneries down below. It is just so beautiful.
http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/3066/47904981.jpg
You would know that you have already arrived in Balanan by stating the obvious, seeing the sign "Balanan".
http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/252582_1982545334400_1566234386_32123007_5483405_n.jpg
The roads within Lake Balanan are already developed with a cement pavement. Upon arriving, there's a portion of the road where the water overflows. It's not a flood as it is intentionally designed to be that way. A stream passes by the road.
http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/252377_1982544174371_1566234386_32123004_3340280_n.jpg
http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/9584/96740141.jpg
The place is surrounded with trees and you can hear the birds chirping, it really is a commune with nature. Near the parking area, you can see old giant balete trees just like the ones below. It would take more than a dozen to hug this giant tee.
http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/252437_1982534774136_1566234386_32122977_4308953_n.jpg
http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/2951/97140881.jpg
Walking along the path you will soon arrive at the picinic area where you can cook and eat your meals. You can bring your own food in Lake Balanan without any fees.
Just below the picnic area are the swimming pools. There are 3 swimming pools but at that time only 2 are used. The water is so cool, clean, and refreshing as it is naturally fed by the waters from the creek.
http://img542.imageshack.us/img542/6509/92777555.jpg
Kids and adults really do enjoy swimming here. This is the only area where one is allowed to swim as it is prohibited to swim in the lake or river. This is for the safety of everyone. If one really wanted to swim in the lake, he/she needs to sign a waiver.
http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/1764/91879393.jpg
Just beside the swimming pools is a man-made waterfalls and its waters flow down the slope. The picnic area and swimming pools are elevated. I'm not sure though if the swimming pools are designed to be infinity pools as it looks like one. There's a real waterfalls by the way, and not just only one.
http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/249807_1982533494104_1566234386_32122972_696642_n.jpg
The Lake.
http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/5837/61573517.jpg
Just by looking at the lake, the calm waters, the green backdrop, the cool air, the singing of the birds, the momentary silence, you can really feel at peace.
http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/3919/48797049.jpg
The management had created a bridge/pathway and this is best vantage point to view the lake.
http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/249982_1982549334500_1566234386_32123019_254529_n.jpg
There's also a tree house on top of a giant balete tree where one can have a commanding view of the lake.
The highlight of being in Lake Balanan are the water adventures. One can rent kayaks, pedal boats, bancas, and floating cottages. Kayaks and pedal boats are Php 150.00 per hour while bancas which are good for 8 persons are Php 100.00 per hour.
http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/1338/75717991.jpg
It is always fun to ride a kayak but the adventure doesn't end there as another one awaits at the other side of the lake.
Docking at the other side of the lake. The water is so calm. With a sight to behold, it would not be far fetch to reflect life, but it is not yet time for reflection with another adventure ahead, although you can do so if you want to with a scenery like this.
http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/250962_1982551974566_1566234386_32123032_6728230_n.jpg
Crossing a small brook.
http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/3752/b10kk.jpg
There's a saying that "It is always greener at the other side of the fence." Though the meaning might not be the same and too literal but perhaps it so. If I have a high-end camera, I could make a postcard from this site.
http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/4940/26109092.jpg
You will need to walk about 200 meters on a dirt path. As you are getting nearer to your destination, you will hear a rumbling sound, and it is getting louder and louder. You will then climb a bamboo bridge to get a good view. The rumbling is getting louder and louder as you are getting closer and closer. The water is gushing and you can feel some sprinkles. Finally, you have already arrived.

But wait, there's more! Just above from this waterfalls is another waterfalls.
http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/250382_1982553694609_1566234386_32123038_6595469_n.jpg
I don't know if there's another adventure just ahead of the 2nd waterfalls but it's getting dark and it's time to head home.

A Bagobo Folk Tale:
ORIGIN
Bagobo (Mindanao)
In the beginning there lived one man and one woman, Toglai and Toglibon. Their first children were a boy and a girl. When they were old enough, the boy and the girl went far away across the waters seeking a good place to live in. Nothing more was heard of them until their children, the Spaniards and Americans, came back. After the first boy and girl left, other children were born to the couple, but they all remained at Cibolan on Mt. Apo with their parents, until Toglai and Toglibon died and became spirits.
Soon after that there came a great drought which lasted for three years. All the waters dried up, so that there were no rivers, and no plants could live.
"Surely," said the people, "Manama is punishing us and we must go elsewhere to find food and a place to dwell in."
So they started out. Two went in the direction of the sunset, carrying with them stones from Cibolan River. After a long journey they reached a place where were broad fields of cogon grass and an abundance of water, and there they made their home. Their children still live in that place and are called Magindanau, because of the stones which the couple carried when they left Cibolan.
Two children of Toglai and Toglibon went to the south, seeking a home, and they carried with them women's baskets (baraan). When they found a good spot, they settled down. Their descendants, still dwelling at that place, are called Baraan or Bilaan, because of the women's baskets.
So two by two the children of the first couple left the land of their birth. In the place where each settled a new people developed, and thus it came about that all the tribes in the world received their names from things that the people carried out of Cibolan, or from the places where they settled.
All the children left Mt. Apo save two (a boy and a girl), whom hunger and thirst had made too weak to travel. One day when they were about to die the boy crawled out to the field to see if there was one living thing, and to his surprise he found a stalk of sugar-cane growing lustily. He eagerly cut it, and enough water came out to refresh him and his sister until the rains came. Because of this, their children are called Bagobo.
http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/creation-phil.html#origin
I conducted a personal research (borne from frustration because the mainstream educational system in this country lacked its expected role in giving importance to mythological wealth indigenous to the land) from the seemingly unbelievable Bagobo claim that all tribes in the world supposedly originated from Cibolan (River), and discovered some insights and evidences that may vindicate it.
it is also interesting that the Bagobo myth predicted the arrival of people from far continents, like Spaniards and Americans and considered them like long lost brethrens, which may partly explain the ease of assimilation of foreign influence in the country's olden history.
Another interesting thing was how, just as the Bagobos narrated, other places named theirs from the word Cibolan, from Negros to as far as the America's (which by the way the word Cibolan originated not from native American tongue but from India's Dravidians).

skyion November 17th, 2011, 12:12 AM The ancient knowledge of Mindanao's Bagobo Peoples shall be vindicated:
Ancient Tribe Narrates Identity of All Tribes in the World Originated from Cibolan in Davao, Philippines (http://www.bukisa.com/articles/590523_ancient-indigenous-tribe-narrate-identity-of-all-tribes-in-the-world-originated-from-cibolan-in-davao-philippines)
Cibolan (Sibulan) River, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur

Long-line fishing back at Muelle Loney
By Lydia C. Pendon
ILOILO CITY – Long-line fishing is back at the Muelle Loney stretch of the Iloilo River after the area was dredged and cleaned of debris and dilapidated sea vessels last month.
No less than city mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and Ilonggo senator Franklin M. Drilon noted the fishing rod enthusiasts along the river port area, some two kilometers long from the Parola up to the Quirino Lopez Bridge.
Drilon admitted he was informed of the river development as fishes start to return to the river portion that attracts some individuals to relax and fish in the area from early morning to afternoon everyday.
Mabilog also noted that some fishing enthusiasts were able to gather about five kilos of fish every time they relax and fish at the riverbanks.
.
.
.
Similarly, the Department of Public Works and Highways will take charge of dredging the river from the bridge up to Treñas Boulevard spanning some 12 kilometers.

it seems like the flood really changed a lot of the river channel. the rapids have shifted. And we could decipher the height of the flood with the scoured riverbanks.
I hope it the whitewater rafting rapids were not that much affected.:)
Thanks for these pics...so beautiful and hindi obvious that this river was a major factor in the flashfloods of CDO

Wild Water Rafting, Davao River
habagatcentral1 March 29th, 2012, 10:59 AM This is Iloilo River, the local media called it back then as "the largest CR in Iloilo" since it was already dying and pollution was getting worse. But because of public and private initiative and cooperation, this river estuary in the middle of a highly-urbanised area, turned from almost a dead river into a river of the living.
Iloilo River, then and now.

Hagimit Falls, Samal Island
I think this one is not the best falls in Samal. The other one was more beautiful. I forgot the name but it was on the tip of Samal Island, in a rougher road, in the more foresty area. We were the only people when we went there. It was small but the location was so nice and drops off a cliff soon.

The Tangadan Falls of San Gabriel is truly a majestic sight. A 1 hour 45 – minute walk from the main road of San Gabriel. You have to cross the river, climb a mountain and crawl through big rocks just to make it to this site. Tiring? Yes, but once you’ve experienced the cold water flowing in to your feet and breathe the fresh air that you don’t usually take in the city, it’s worth the long and tiring trip.

There is hope, however. Earlier Barangay Sum-ag, with Tommy Casiano who returned home after years earning dollars in California and former solon John Orola have great plans for the Sum-ag River. The Barangay Council is backing them up and I think that they will provide the city and the barangays along Bácolod’s rivers and creeks with an example of how to make the river burst into life once again and people make a living with them.
Tom (known in Beverly Hills as Tomiko for his magnificent floral arrangements), John and I talked about the Sum-ag River last September 9 in Tom’s “Laguerta” in Sum-ag. They had plans for the river that can equal those of Thailand, including the wet market and the river cruise that will end up at the Silk Farm.
The plan, with apologies, will be better than the river cruise of Sagay because this tourism project will include surprising sites and visits. One of these, I am not yet at liberty to reveal, will be a visit to a site that has only one other kind but in the United States.
This site would be the only one of its size and content outside of the United States and, from what I have seen, of Europe. Since the work is now going on, we shall reveal this wonderful project sometime in December.
