Betweem Trump Tower Toronto and the OMB. I heard a while ago that they are going to the OMB for hearings. Can anyone, maybe the experience members please give me more details.
Thanks for you time.

I am not to fond of the OMB board.

^Not many people are!

I heard that the proposal had gone through but had to go back after the height change.

I wouldn't take my word for it because in this case, the sorces were far from concrete.

Trump was appealed to the OMB, after being approved by the city, by the NIMBYs of Yonge and Eglinton.

Without the OMB, there is a real possibility that Trump could have ended up taller than 20-storeys. Which was the maximum zoning premitted on the site.

What exactly are you talking about? What does Y&E have to do with Trump? And Trump is looking at 70. Where does the 20 come from?

The Yonge and Eglinton NIMBYs have been on a crusade to reform the planning process every since Minto was proposed. They have a very active organization which is tring to stop the Trump Tower and another half dozen projects around town, including One St. Thomas.

They, along with John Sewell, believe the Trump tower should only be allowed to rise a maximum 20-storeys, which was the previous maximum zoning on the site. They have since teamed up with Scotia Plaza to fight the Trump Tower at the OMB.

I read in an article on June 19, 2004, that The Bank of Nova Scotia has withdrawn their OMB concerns.

It's still at the OMB so I guess the NIMBYs are fighting this one alone.

BTW, Here is their website http://www.corra.ca

^Yeah, I don't see why people have issues against some skyscrapers. I seriously don't see what negative impacts can the Trump tower have, unless, of course, we're talking about the view out of Scotia Plaza.;)

Don't hate the OMB, it's actually very pro-developer....so chances are the NIMBYs will be outta luck.

The OMB is not Pro-Developer.

It is pro good planning based on the provincial goals set out in the Provincial Policy Statement.

If the application has positive planning merits to it and has regard for the PPS the OMB will approve it. The is not pro-development, the fact is many municipal councils are anti-development and make decisions based on political reasons rather than planning merits - the OMB provides a sober second look and examines evidence and facts - not how loud the NIMBY's can scream.

The view out of scotia is gonna really get screwed over if both trump and if ever bay and adelaide centre. Lets not however forget that one side of trumps building will be facing scotia, then again trump will be taller.

No one 'owns' a view.

Technically your view ends at your property line.
