Building 1 «Yerevanian Berd-1» (Argishti 11/3)

Taking into account the modern tendencies in the construction we developed a construction scheme called «Yerevanian Berd» (Yerevan Castle). Inspired by the uniqueness of the territory and the gateway to the gorge our architecture-designers processed the scheme in a castle like shape. The location itself serves as a base to precisely calculate the Sun ray directions, cartography and the outstanding views. Hence such details are always taken into account while receiving new ideas. In addition to the location specifications and the day by day growing demand in having a closed district in any case did not prevent us making a draft of a very comfortable, secure and green district. Elaborating the engineering innovations we tried to work out a draft that would be in compliance with both all architectural norms and our customers' individual will. Only high quality and innovative construction materials are being used to build our buildings. All apartments are renovated and moreover the interior materials and shapes are chosen by our customers. The building is equipped with two entrances and has 14 floors with 16 apartments on each floor.Location of the building: The building is in the neighborhood of “Ararat” wine, vodka, brandy factory and is in the distance of 1.5 km from the Republic Square. «Yerevanian Berd» district is very close to the Hrazdan gorge which gives out a wonderful view of both the gorge and the Mount Ararat. Inspired by the name of the district we are planning to call the buildings by distinct names. This first building is called «Tower». It is worth mentioning that the district will always be quiet and provided with fresh air due to the close location to the gorge.
Technical Details: The building is a cast concrete structure without junctions. The mid covers are partly covered with tuff stone while the balcony cement cover is in harmony with the building surface. The building is armed with sophisticated fire alarm system with gateways at each apartment. The evacuation routs are made of fireproof materials. All apartments have open balconies starting the first level.

I don't like that much all this new stuff they keep on building in so-called "Small Center" of Armenian capital Yerevan. I would prefer to see this part of a city cosy, renovated and with its historical look as it used to be...Pity that it's almost gone now.

The history of Yerevan dates back to the 8th century BC, with the founding of the fortress of Erebuni in 782 BC by king Argishti I at the western extreme of the Ararat plain.[3] After World War I, Yerevan became the capital of the Democratic Republic of Armenia as thousands of survivors of the Armenian Genocide settled in the area. The city expanded rapidly during the 20th century as Armenia became one of the fifteen republics in the Soviet Union. In fifty years, Yerevan was transformed from a town of a few thousand residents within the Russian Empire, to Armenia's principal cultural, artistic, and industrial center, as well as becoming the seat of national government.

With the growth of the economy of the country, Yerevan has been undergoing major transformation as many parts of the city have been the recipient of new construction since the early 2000s, and retail outlets such as restaurants, shops and street cafes, which were rare during Soviet times, have multiplied.

In 2009, the population of Yerevan was estimated to be 1,111,300 people with the agglomeration around the city regrouping 1,245,700 people (2007 official estimate),[4] more than a third of all the population of Armenia.
