What city has the best nightlife?
Now i added in 3 NZ citys seeming theres the 2 main for each island and the capital.

You can choose more then one city, because you might of been to a few and likes them the same.
Post pictures of the nightlife or anything really, debate and enjoy!

All depends on what you like.
I don't go out as much as I used to - I do go out when I am visiting Sydney or Melbourne though. I usually only go out partying at gay nightspots, clubs ect because I feel most compfortable in those spaces.

Sydney with 27 gay venues is overated - sorry but Sydney people can be very friendly if they want to "play" but can also be very stuck up!! Sydney is a great night out and alot of fun can be had if you can let go though. Had many fun times in Sydney.

Melbourne with its 16 gay venues is great but too spread out. It is also a little conservative and there is no real gay "ghetto" so to speak - its a very mixed city in terms of culture which can be a great thing or a bad thing. I find it hard to let go and have fun as I would in some other cities because there is a conservativeness about Melbourne and the scene which can be a little stuffy.

Brisbane with its 10 gay venues is great but is also getting quite mixed now similar to Melbourne. Family in Brisbane was voted Australia's best nightclub two years running and when meeting people from interstate its amazing their reaction - for me Family is OK but my favorite will always be the Wickham - no pretention and plenty of "fun" to be had. Brisbane people tend to be alot more easy going and less pretentious than in Southern Cities.

Gold Coast - with its 8 venues its probably got the largest gay scene in Australia for its small population - I have never found it appealing though. It seems that On the Gold Coast clubs are emptying out by 2am while in Brisbane that is the time when things are getting "hot".

Cairns - with its 2 venues it is nice with lots of international boys visiting.

Perth has 3 venues but I have never been so I can't say.

Adelaide has 5 venues and I have heard nothing but great stuff about how they party in Adelaide - even if the gay scene is the size of a 50c piece! Aparenty Adelaide Rocks!! Could be the fact that so many Adelaide gays have moved to Brisbane in the last few years that I have this opinion about the place because I haven't been in years.

Canberra has one venue - cube - but I have heard nothing about what it is like in terms of nightlife.

Darwin has one venue and aparently is also a great spot to party.

I can only really speak of Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Of the two, Brisbane wins hands down for me. Gold Coast is waaaaay to pretentious. As for Brisbane, I don't really enjoy most of the clubs in the cbd (some of the pubs are ok in non-peak times), however the Valley is where its at. Great atmosphere, lots of clubs/pubs really close to each other, as well as a wide variety of music.

Hope your not one of those straights who are invading the valley - LOL sorry but there was an article in today's city news about Fortitude Valley being invaded by Straight people. It said that because of this there was a higher degree of violence towards the gay community.

Perhaps I should be a little more tollerant of Straight people - I mean people are born straight, its not like you just wake up and decide to be straight:)

As far as nightlife in Brisbane goes here is a quick rundown on the main precincts.

Fortitude Valley - where it all happens. Its a 24 hour, never sleeps hot spot full of great nightclubs and dayclubs to boot!! It is also very mixed (now) with great all day and all night food, entertainment and great shopping too.

West End - in a word its Brisbane's Bohemian center. Mix with a wide range of different cultures from Greek through to Asian to Turkish and everything in between. Its the only place in Australia where alfresco dining and shisha smoking go hand in hand - Its a bit like Nimbin too if you know what I mean;)

Caxton Street through to La trobe street in Paddington and Petrie Tce. In a word its a great nightspot if you are straight - I don't go there much.

CBD - very similar to Caxton St - very straight with lots of Clubs. Similar atmosphere to King Street for the Melburnians reading this.

Spring Hill - very mixed with gays and straigts though its more of a bar scene and gets quiet after about 2am when everyone heads off into the city or the Valley.

Thats all I can think of but there are heaps of Suburban bogan places out in the suburbs that I wouldn't go to if you paid me!

lol JayT. Strait people invading the valley? since whne has it been characterised by Gays lol!

As for nightlife.. i really cant say at all. I could imagine Adelaide is quite good, as well as Brisbane and Perth. Melbourne as well for that matter. Sydney.. i cant say because so many ppl in sydney are assholes, or stuck up, or try hard and so on... But im sure the venues are top, but the people may not be?

I read the title and my immediate thought was, hopefully JayT hasn't found it. He would crap on about the 1000's of gay clubs etc.... not that there's anything wrong with that. :) seinfeld.

Anyway, the valley is the place to go, mainly because everything is so close. Caxton St is crap and the city is OK at best. I haven't been to the gold coast much, but it was alright the several times i went. There is quite a bit of agro down there.

The best place in the valley at 5am - New York Pizza.

One thing which is f#cked though is the lack of cabs in the valley. The lines are huge. Expect an hour wait in the cab rank. Even at 5am.

For me, (in Brisbane) i love the Valley. Family & Monastery would have to be my favourite clubs. I hate going out in the city. I'm actually gonna check out a few of the bars i haven't been to in the valley tommorrow night. Any suggestions anybody? (straight bars please!!) :) I've heard Main Squeeze & Sun Bar are quite good.
Sydney, well i haven't been to alot of clubs down there, but i would have to say on a Friday night, you can't go past Sublime @ Home if you like that kinda thing!! :)

what time do the trains run till? we have trains till 2am in perth so that clears some of the crowd though on sunday the first train isn't till 7am (saturday 5am) so in northbridge we have the same problem with cab line ups though, not as bad, I remember waiting about 20 mins, though that wasn't really because of a lack of cabs more just he shear amount of people waiting at the taxi rank, trying to load up groups of drunks is slow I guess

Well there are a few good night clubs in the centre of Newcastle. They are best on saturday nights though fridays are good. Most are a 5 min walk or 10 min stumble from each other and lots are free. My favourites are Frostbites and the Great Northern, which is a massive pub, but it basically becomes a night club on friday and saturday nights.
The clubs are:
Brewery (abit over priced, but had thirsty Merc playing there last month for free, so its ok.)

Frostbites (Great frozen alcoholic drinks and cool balconys to escape the dance floor and get some fresh air)

Fannys (a little pricey to get in but hey its massive and there are 2 dance floors and cool stamps that only show up under uv light)

Mercury (If u like techno and strobe lights and 2 storeys of dancing)

Surf City (Very trashy and not really my scene, but its ok, full of 16 and 17 yr olds with fake id's)

Great Northern (Coolest place, its soo huge and the dance floor is really fun, oh and i scored a midori hat there a few months ago on my 18th bday )

The underground (Grande) (pretty cool basement night club with $2.50 schooner  )

Then there are pubs and bars which really get packed and go off on a friday and saturday like The Dell (Darby Street) and the Kent in beaumont street hamilton, the beaches (Merewether). The lucky in newcastle is also fun, so seedy and gross but every1 goes there to get cheap drinks before they hit the town and pay $6+ for a smirnoff ice d black. I also like Customs house and the new Harbour Bar next to the Brewery.

What is this place Family in Brisbane? I have been over here for a while and I have never heard of it.

When I was in Brisbane, back in 2000, as a 30 year old straight guy, and more of a pub person than a clubber, the places to go were,

The Irish Pubs, O'Malleys, Gilhooleys, Irish Murphys, PJ's and Dooleys in the Valley

other venues, Criterian, Her Majestys, Rosies, Adrehlin, Victory, Stock Exchange, Mary St, Port Office, City Rowers, Fridays and Hotel LA and the Underground on Caxton St. And also a pub, just down Caxton St, past Lang Park, on top of the hill, I can't think of the name of it, but they have a western theme, it's a bit tacky, but I have had some good times there with friends.

I know some of the above venues, are "towny" meat markets, but hey, what is a guy to do when he is half pissed.

I have been to the Beat, and the Wickham in the Valley, not quite my scene, but OK, gay guys don't bother straights, and as long as you don't get a bunch of yobs going in there with an "OMG, 2 guys dancing together" attitude, just about anyone would be welcome.

I think of the Valley as more "alternate", than "gay", but I may be well out of date with what is going on now.

Sydney has some amazing venues, club nights, superclubs, rave series and a plethora of excellent establishments to party the night away. Many of which in recent years have been voted undisputed best in the Southern Hemisphere.

melbourne's nightlife rates higher than sydney b/c the nightlife isnt tacky!

melbourne is known to have the best nightlife in australia and is the dance capital of the country. Sydney isnt even on that "club vibes" web site because there must be other places in the world that shit on sydney. Sydney probably does have good places i'm sure such as 'tank' and 'establishment' but compared to melbourne it isnt as classy and up-market IMO.

Neither is Sydney's or Brisbane's for that matter. I do think that people in Sydney and Brisbane tend to let go more and have more fun - that could be construed by conservative or prudish Melburnians as 'tacky' - but I like it.

I dissagree - as a Brisbane person we never here about Melbourne or any other city apart from Sydney this and Sydney that. There is good dance music and fantastic nightlife in every city. Not Melbourne or even Sydney has a monopoly on this. My favorite DJ at the moment comes from Adelaide!! She's Brilliant!
From what I have seen and been to, Melbourne has come along way in the last few years and is really starting to relinquish its prudish and conservative reputation.

You seem to love to use the word conservative a lot. Im not sure why. Melbourne's conservative era was before any of us were born so why go on about it???

As a reference, when the referendum was held a few years back to decide on the republic issue, The only state to have a majority for the affirmative was Victoria, while all the other states voted in favour for the incumbent system.

Funny about that hey???

I've been into electronic music for many years now, and have been to events and clubs in most cities. I can easily say that Melbourne is hands down winner. You can't go to an Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney show without running into some form of cheesy music. In Melbourne, it's what it was meant to be - classy. You ask any renowned internationally acclaimed DJ or producer, and you'll find their answer to "Australia's electronic music capital" will be Melbourne with every one of them. Hardware, Future Entertainment, Agent Mad, and a bunch of smaller companies have put on by far the most successful parties in Australia.

I've never been to Perth, but I hear that rocks too ;)

Well that's ok you don't have a clue what you are talking about and i forgive you. May I ask what is the problem with cheesy music BTW?

Melbourne is not home of Australia's most successful parties BTW, it's totally arguable and Sydney has had for a long time, the longest running dance promoters in Australia. Parties have been going since the early 90s with the same brand and continue to grow and get stronger.

I have friends who promote international DJs in Melbourne, they are at the cutting edge of the scene, a few of them come from Sydney and grew up in the rave and club scene here, I don't hear them making sweeping statements regarding how much more successful melbourne is over Sydney - it is just very different, music and scene wise.

You talk of international DJs which is all well but its subjective and so is music, what you and I like are at differing ends of the spectrum and I can assure you if you think Sydney is lacking you have simply not been exposed to what you need. Underground parties abound as well as massive commerical parties held in locations such as the Superdome - if you don't like fun, out-there parties stay away. Each scene has progressed down a very different direction and the tacky vs sophisticated arguement may be true - but I can honestly tell you I know what I perfer and its all in Sydney.

Avatar, I'm not dicounting Sydney's parties, but Melbournes are generally slightly higher in stature of money spent etc... Two Tribes hasn't won best electronic event for the past few years running for nothing.

Either way, each city has it's main styles... In Brisbane it's NRG/Hard House, In Perth It's DnB and progressive, In Adelaide it's Hard House/NRG and DnB, in Sydney it's Trance, some House, Breaks and Techno, and in Melbourne it's Progressive House, Techno, House and Breaks...

Melbourne in my eyes is better, because my favourite styles are Techno and Progressive house... I'm sure other people will disagree...

As my name suggests for me it has to be Sydney and Adelaide,

Sydney - Nothing comes close to the Gay scene in Australia especially this weekend people hanging out the windows of every club on Oxford street at 4 in the Afternoon on a Sunday Me included. However i find the straight clubs to be full of wankers who dont care who they knock over or spill drinks on (Tank especially) what happened to manners. One exception would be the Funk Trust on Hunter Street Thursday nights I love that place.

Adelaide for it being so centralised. Being able to walk to almost every club within the city and not having to pay rediculous cover charges. good Music too its not always cheesy you just have to find the right place. Try the underground D&B rave underneath the south Eastern Freeway that was one hell of a night.

I also give credit to perth for having the friendliest atmosphere never made so many friends in my life.

Only spent a little time in Melb and i dont think i went to the right places so i wont comment.

Oh JayT I don't think so... ;)

Utopia is a full blown rave I dont think they resemble gay dance parties at all. This is a rave sex plays a much lesser part in the party with multiple rooms and music generally based around hardcore/trance/hiNRG, it is predominatly straight, way younger than sleaze and fulled by much faster drugs and far better lighting. Parties like this pull about 15000 ravers. They often include about 4 rooms with differing styles, bar facilities, clothing stalls, rides and chillout areas. BTW look at how the ravers are dancing, the direction of attention is fixed squarely on the DJ not the guy gehind with his shirt off (well maybe sometimes but not as often)!

I have to admit there are a few that look a little scattered in that crowd and don't know which direction to dance in :).

I have to admit though each city has some awesome parties happening that pull some massive crowds. I still think some of the intimate parties of between 900 and 3000 can be cool - you can actually see people you know and find them a little more easily. Although a massive arena with many thousands of people is a sight to behold and feels incredible to be a part of.

It really is a matter of personal opinion since nightlife covers so many varied options.

I grew up in Canberra and spent the first half of my 20s as one of the best known party boys in Canberra and spent my fair share of time in Sydney. While Canberra doesnt even rate one single vote in this poll it has (or maybe had) a fantastic scene with all soughts of clubs being influenced from its two closest neighbours Sydney and Melbourne. It also had some of the best raves I have ever been to thanks to a large University crowd. While it may not rate on this poll, I had the time of my life in one of the friendliest and relaxed scenes I have ever experienced.

One of the reasons I think Sydney is not fairing as well in this poll, is that the nightlife is so well spread from Bondi out to the western suburbs that you can find a really good example of whatever you want, you just have to know where to find it. I won't name him because most of you wont know who I am talking about, but my brother is one of Australia's most respected DJ's and he chooses to reside in Sydney for a reason. I do believe that he enjoys playing in Melbourne but certainly prefers Sydney.

Ive never been out in Melbourne, much to my disappointment in myself, believe me, but I do hear only good things from friends that live there, the only thing I will say, is that most people have said that it is a hard scene to break into and can come across as stuck up. This is how many people view Melbourne but having been labelled that myself in my party days I understand that this is possibly only the way it comes across and may have more to do with others unjust expectations.

Thats what it all boils down to - Personal Preference. I

The best parties I have been to are Tropical Fruits dance parties which are held around Lismore (Northern NSW) at certain times of the year. They are great and attract a variety of people - mainly from Sydney Brisbane and GC.
There are many "bush doofs" and those parties in country halls that only attrat a few hundred people - but they are fun.

The Tropical Fruits NYE are amazing and are now attracting big attention internationally. They are comparitively small - 3 or 4 thousand last year, but its not bad for a country town. It is the Best Gay/Lesbian event in Australia at new year and the only place to be.

Has anyone here been to a Tropical Fruits party?

I am going to disagree with JayT about Brisbane Sleaze, you cannot compare Brisbane Sleaze to any pic that has been posted on this thread, sorry, but it simply doesnt cut it, as much as I wish it did, that wont stop me going though!!!! On the other hand, I will agree with JayT that Tropical Fruits is the best Dance Party I have ever been to and those of you who are putting it down before you have any idea of what it is like really need to experience it. Yes it is a gay dance party, but without the pretense that is usually associated with gay parties, everyone is there for the music and the people and no-one cares who you are or what you look like, unless you only have your undies on, in which case you dont seem to care what you look like either!!!

Back to topic, I didnt mention Brisbane in my last post. The Brisbane Scene is a whole lot more relaxed, due to the weather and lifestyle, than other cities. This is what I love about it and the Valley is entertainment central, although I wouldnt say it is all that gay, its not Oxford St. Within the Valley you can go to a pub and listen to live bands of all soughts, you can go to a dance club, a mega club, a ravers club, a chillout lounge, have dinner, have coffee, checkout China Town and all in a relatively safe environment with every diffferent type of person you can think of. THe city on the other hand, I havent experienced all that much, it is full of clubs though and the restaurant and bar scene seems to be getting bigger an bigger all the time, especially with so many young professionals moving in. Then we move over to Southbank which isnt your typical nightlife, there are night markets and you can be guaranteed that there will be loads of people hanging at the beach in the middle of the night in the middle summer, cooling off and having a ball. I had my first night out in West End last Friday and that place is alive with more great bars and restaurants. If you just want dinner and a piss up then Caxton St is the place to go, even better if the footy is on.

I have only heard fantastic things about Adelaide, and would imagine it to be a bigger version of Canberra's nightlife, big enough to please everyone and small enough to make it really friendly.

Ken Cloud! Most people even in Sydney dont know of him so much cos hes not the type to promote himself hugely, he does the Mad Rackett parties and doesnt get so much into the more commercial scene. He is also one half of Poxymusic who earlier this year did Ministry of Sound Clubbers Guide to 2004. If your interested also check out www.mydj.com.au.

FUTURE ENTERTAINMENT -Mark James MELBOURNE BASED-They bring out all the major acts and in association with IN THE MIX run many of the famous events in MELBOURNE then filter them to the rest of the nation

Melbourne had arguably the best night club of the 90's known as DOME- Molly was there in a mix of GAYS STRAIGHTS WOGS AUSSIES CROSSDRESSERS TRANSEXUALS-I was there it was majic- the studio 54 of this city- the door bitch once made me spell CONOLIGUS just to get in, which I think I am still spelling wrong, but still got in.

I was at GODSKITCHEN on SATURDAY night and ran into 4 Singporians who travel to Melbourne to dance the night away at the event. It rocked- Andrew Padula was rocking all night long and John Course the Number one Australian House DJ from Melbourne- Residency at ONE LOVE- Prince of Whales ST KILDA was fantastic.

Decade Of Dance DVD

For over 10 years, Future Entertainment has been presenting the largest dance events held in Australia and New Zealand. "Decade Of Dance" celebrates this important period in the growth of the Australasian dance scene, which in that time has gone from an underground movement to one of the largest and most enjoyed forms of popular culture.

Dance has been a significant creative and artistic pursuit through many centuries of community life, and the current era's dance parties and electronic music festivals are the manifestation of this. They allow the community to gather and celebrate their togetherness in a way rarely achieved in modern society.

Now firmly entrenched as a major component of the global entertainment industry, the international dance scene is one in which Australia has played a significant role. This is no doubt due to Future Entertainment's efforts to constantly present first-class events featuring only the biggest names on the planet. In what could be termed a "discomentary", "Decade Of Dance" documents these parties, taking you on a trip through history.

What you will witness in this DVD will put you right at these parties - from the middle of the dance floor, to up there on stage, and in the DJ booth. Prepare to feel like you are there as you hear every beat, see every colour, and feel every vibe of the biggest dance events Australia has ever seen.

The parties featured include events such as Slinky, Godskitchen, Trade, Gatecrasher, Two Tribes, Renaissance, Cream, Perfecto, Summadayze and Global Underground - names familiar to dance fans the world over.

What you will also see are some of the "household" International names of the dance scene - people that rocked it then, and are still rockin' it now accompanied by some of Australia's best local talent.

Largely shot in Melbourne, arguably the dance capital of the southern hemisphere, you'll see everything from that city's famous Docklands events to parties held at arenas that at other times of the year host Grand Slam tennis events !

And it's all set to a soundtrack of the biggest dance hits from the past decade, specially mixed by Future Entertainment's own Mark James. So you can put it on and indulge in your own dance party at home as you immerse yourself in the DJ's, the crowd, the lighting and the sound.

Don't just sit back, relax and enjoy - Get up, dance and go crazy to "Decade Of Dance".

I'm in aggreeance to what most of mic said... although I'm more on the hardware side of things than future entertainment... forget Summadayze (although, good), Two Tribes at the Tennis Centre has been Australia's premiere electronic festival. This year boasting 15-20 high quality (not just from top 500 dj polls) international DJs from ALL genres...

My highlights have been seeing Richie Hawtin at the last docks party at Welcome2002 with Sven Vath, and Digweed... followed by 20,000 packed into the Sidney Myer Music Bowl for Summadayze ;)

Why the hell is Melbourne rating so far above Sydney?

Sydney has some amazing venues, club nights, superclubs, rave series and a plethora of excellent establishments to party the night away. Many of which in recent years have been voted undisputed best in the Southern Hemisphere.

Surely you know by now that all of these polls are the same. People just vote for their home city no matter what the poll is about. Melbourne would win a 'which city has the nicest Opera House' poll coz it seems to have the most forumers for some reason. Oh, regarding your comment "....voted undisputed best...", well, I dispute that.

Melbourne for clubs. Sydney for pubs. Brisbane for... well, I haven't quite worked that out! It's got some good pubs, and some good clubs, but nothing stands out. Seems to be an unproportional amount of Irish Pubs.

Either way it's all better than Sale. We've got 2 decent pubs and a nightclub (That is the lamest exuse for a nightclub I've ever seen - think Moe's Tavern with a $7 cover charge!)

Summerdayze is a national event held in Melbourne, Perth and the Goldcoast while in Sydney it is under the guise of a different name Field Day.

The new years day event your thinking of is Sunshine People, which confusingly Melbourne also has on the same day (but is run by different people).

Highlights over the past couple of months:

- Something & anchor on Grenfell Street, if you ever go to Adelaide and meet yob and he says you should go there, shoot him. :)
- Exeter on Rundle. That's my kind of place, no show pony dickheads, no bullshit, beergarden & Coopers - winnah.
- Tony's favourite joint in Paddington on Oxford street (what was the name of it?), I'm so going back there, just not on a Sunday night (10pm close LOL!) - remind me bout that Tony next time I'm up there - winnah.
- Place just above Taylor Square, on the city side on Oxford street, another no bullshit, all around pisser, relatively cheap drinks too.

I guess it depends on what you're into, but there are plenty of great clubs & bars in the Valley in Brisbane. Plus it is home to what would have to be in the top 2 nightclubs in the country, Family Nightclub. It has on 2 occasions been voted number 1 nightclub in Australia. It has got the biggest sound system of any club in the southern hemisphere also. Plenty of international DJ's rate it amongst some of Europes best actually.
For me, it's a toss up between Family & Home Nightclub for the best clubs in Australia.

Family is pretty good - best decor of any club I have seen anywhere in the country and yes people do rave about it - especially interstaters on a Sunday night, most of whom can't believe it goes off so much on a work night. I however find the music to be a little to commercial for my liking - there are dozens of other clubs in the Valley with better music, happy and heavy trance ect which is what I go for. Well.....your wrong. But thats OK as we up here understand the limitations of your knowledge about Brisbane and that most of it is 20 years out of date.

Fact is while Sydney and Melbourne focus on outdoing each other, Brisbane nightspots, bars and clubs have been following on trends set in Europe and America - we prefer to set our own trends which is why we have so many great nightclubs ect for our population.

Come to Melbourne JayT-when was the last time you were down???

Winter - thats probably the problem. I havent been to Melbourne in summer for ages but I come every winter for a few days. Winter in Melbourne is always very quiet compared to Brisbane and the clubs and nightlife seem to be very conservative but I put this down to the cold weather. I bet in summer people really let go and it becomes more hedonistic. I meet Melburnians out in Brisbane all the time and they say things are really changing down there which is why I must visit in the Summer months some time.

Though this year it looks like it could be winter again:)

Footy and skiing - there is nothing to bring me down in summer.

I think the best way to sum up Sydney's nightlife is with 3D World. Here is a free weekly street press publication that is always 80-100 pages full every week. And it is completely focused on clubbing and raves/parties. There is no rock, pub, alternative scenes mentioned in the magazine.

Thats not to say the smaller cities don't have quality venues because they do, but most people who go out on a regular basis prefer a bit of variety and different options.

Wezza
February 1st, 2005, 10:49 AM
From my experiences, the scene in Brissie might not be as big as Sydney & Melbourne, but for quality it at least equals them. :)
For Brisbane's Nightlife, check out "The Scene" Magazine. It's pretty much like 3D World except for Brisbane obviously.

Did anyone go to Two Tribes in Sydney? For those never heard of the event...it was held in Superdome yesterday from 8pm to 7am. Heart pumping technos to rythamic trance.

It was so freaking awsome. I was one of the early birds when the event opened at 8pm. 30 came at that time and when the time progressed 30,000 arrived just before Prodigy played. Speakers were huge..2 10m speakers hanging from the ceiling along with 4 1m speakers. Loads of subwoofers. I was standing 10m from stage and wow, my body vibrated like a tuning fork. Sound blasts were so powerful that it moves fogs like ripples and it dehyrates my throat!

There were 30 DJs playing for 11 hrs. Includes prodigy, rank 1, Pee Wee, Nik Fish, Jumping Jack, Kid Kenobi, Grandfather Flash, Signum, John Ferris, Yoshi, Dave Seaman...

It was so good to see the sunrise straight after the event. One word "reincarnation".

No just more forum members:)

Melbourne is becoming much better though and is shirking its old reputation as a dull city where nothing happens and is becoming 'the' place to be. It has some great clubs and is very innovative and funky compared to Sydney which still has its hedonistic values intact. The innercity population of Melbourne has exploded which could have something to do with it.

They are both very different.

Brisbane on the other hand has the best of both - its both funky, innovative and headonistic and is still home to Australia's best nightclub! And like Melbourne its inner city population has also exploded.

Yeah - its amazing what sudafed, coffee, alcahol and red bull all mixed together will do;)

Or british girls with great tans!!!!!! :eek2:
For the record Sydney's nightlife is 'aight'. There are a buttload of clubs, it took me 4 years with 4days+ a week to exhaust it.

No just more forum members:)
It has some great clubs and is very innovative and funky compared to Sydney which still has its hedonistic values intact. The innercity population of Melbourne has exploded which could have something to do with it.

They are both very different.

jt

Don't know if you have been out lately. Sounds at greenwood, Yu bar even, there are def places where it can be very funky. Funktrust as well on wed nights, or even cargo bar, where a dj plays with a guy with his trumpet jamming along. Still i havent been to other cities for long (GC is ok but too little in selection than i used to, but considering its size its expected), but for my judgement, if you go out less than 4 times a week for 4 years, you really should be at a new place everyweek. As i said its 'aight'.

Most who come go to the famous (but not even close to the best bars/clubs), like Tank, Establishment (wanka fest) and the rest.

Future Entertainment doesnt operate Two Tribes in QLD-Different target market..honestly thats the truth, I promote for Future

Runs out of Melbourne

Two Tribes is the biggest ElectroFest in the Southern Hemisphere-That meaning outside Europe and North America-Mainly USA and Western Europe

For the Record Adelaide has a funky nightlife scene-well dressed people, Fumo Blu is fantastic, Vodka Bar is good, a few places such as Eden are passable-Heaven would probably be quivalent to Heat in Melbourne.

Overall some good Adelaide clubs--

Brisbane's Adventjah festivals used to be the largest outside Europe/North America. However that was a late 90s early 00s when an adventjah could attract up to 25,000 people and included a dozen pavilions with every type of electronic music you could want. Since then there has been alot of competition from other dance music festivals, especially on the Gold Coast. Adventjah is lucky to get 10,000 party goers now.

It is held twice a year at the Ekka grounds - does anyone remember that year the superloop got stuck upside down - LOL.
Advenjah has also gone national now.

Hope your not one of those straights who are invading the valley - LOL sorry but there was an article in today's city news about Fortitude Valley being invaded by Straight people. It said that because of this there was a higher degree of violence towards the gay community.

Lol, sorry it took me so long to reply. Yeah I am straight, but I have been going to the valley ever since I was old enough to go out. If there has been more violence towards gay people, that sucks. I go to the beat quite a bit, as girls I know like ot go there, not a bad spot actually.

Perhaps I should have rephrased that, there are people who go out in the Valley and people who go out in the city. The city people that are coming to the valley are the ones responsible for much of the violence toward gays. Valley straigts are generally into having fun and are more tollerent of differnece.

Why the hell is Melbourne rating so far above Sydney?

Sydney has some amazing venues, club nights, superclubs, rave series and a plethora of excellent establishments to party the night away. Many of which in recent years have been voted undisputed best in the Southern Hemisphere.

Whoever said Melbourne's raves/clubs scene is better than Sydney's must be kidding themselves. Most of the big DJs come to Sydney instead of Melbourne all because of the size of productions. You only have to visit www.inthemix.com.au and go to "What's On" section to compare between Sydney's production and Melbourne's.

Powerhouse productions, transmission productions, overdrive and Masif does big events. First time ever Entertainment Centre will be used as a party venue.

Is Two Tribes the only big event in Melbourne? In Sydney, Two Tribes is not suppose to be the biggest.

Harbourside: NYE Celebration. Whalf 3 of the Millers Point 2,000+
Embrace: NYD Luna Park 2,000+
Two Tribes: Sydne Superdome 5,000+
Utopia: Sydney Showground 7,000+
Transmission: Sydney State Sports Centre 7,000+
Godspeed: Sydney Entertainment Centre 7,000+
Moby: Enmore Theatre (sold out)

If you think that Two Tribes production supposed to be the biggest, then that's just a total misinformation.

LOL - That honor used to belong to Brisbane, with the original 'Adventjah' festivals held here used to get 20,000+ at the RNA showgrounds. They arn't as big now as they have heaps of competition from other dance music festivals and venues around the city. I think Adventjah is lucky to get 10,000 as there is so much more now.

Aparently now Fortitude Valley is Australia's largest club, nightlife district - bigger than anything in Sydney. The popularity of The Valley has mushroomed in recent years and the scene is just crazy. Took some friends from Sydney out on Saturday night/ Sunday morning into The Valley and they couldn't believe it. Sydney and Melbourne are much more spread out.

Two Tribes is the biggest electrofest in Australia, and has the best technology in both sound System and lighting and attracts a more raver style crowd. It is held in both Vodafone and Rod Laver Arena on the Labour day long weekend in March, with an estimated 15,000 capacity, 2004 had 14,000.

Summerdayze on New Years Day is more a House Music festival (Musical Style that Melbourne is renowned for, John Corse, Grant Smillie etc..) It is held every New Years day and has a capacity crowd of 25,000. Last Year the crowd clocked 21,000 as the weather was cooler than normal in the Low 20's. The Summerdayze of 2003-2004 where it was a sunny 29C the crowd was 25,000+.

Adventjah, which was held at Kryal Castle in Ballart is also 10,000+, but JayT is correct in stating that the original Adventjah held up in QLD used to be much bigger.

Slinky is not as big as Two Tribes or Summerdayze with a crowd of 4,000-5,000, it is harder and not as popular in Melbourne, although the Bubble and Yum Yum (Drug Clubs) crowd love it.

Godskitchen is ok bout 5,000+

Earthcore is large and in the bush somewhere, I'm more into House/Tribal House/Hard House/Electro and Prog so I dont attend this rave.

But more on the clubs in Sydney I found the crowds to be shit, that's what I was really trying to say. The commercial main stream nature of Sydney comes out in it's nightlife.

If you are ever down in Melbourne try Seven in Albert Road Sth Melb(Sat night) and One Love at Prince of Wales Fitzroy St St Kilda (Sat Night).

If you are into harder music try Zos. Rocovery is also far better down here, try 161 (where they look at you through a slot, then if they like what they see you enter) and Revolver Upstairs.

SummaDayze is My favourite though......

I found the same even in comparison to Brisbane. Was in Sydney about a month ago and the nightlife wasn't that great on Oxford St - must of moved somewhere else. Went to Arq on Saturday night and it was pathetic - went on Sunday and it was about the same as Family on Sunday, much better but nothng like a Saturday night at Family. The Sydney pub scene is great though and comparable to Brisbane's pub scene.

All up I was very dissapointed in Sydney nightlife as far as clubs go - something terrible has happened down there for it to be the way it is. Where are all the cute boys???

Am still going to Toybox in 6 weeks time down there - special parties like that are still good and besides, Ruby is playing.

Will be in Melbourne in 4 weeks to check out the 'scene' down there. Should be good from what I here, similar to Brisbane in that its friendly, down to earth with cute boys only bigger. I think living in Brisbane you tend to overate Melbourne and Sydney - hence my big dissapointment with Sydney nightlife.

So boys - where is a good place to go on a Saturday and Sunday night in Melbourne - if I want to party till morn?

Thats the link for the pic that resembles a concert, I can assure you all those pics above are of Two Tribes Melbourne 2005

So what do they do - remove the seats so people can move around freely and dance? It looks kind of wierd. In Brisbane Raves or Big dance parties are held at venues like the Convention Centre or the RNA Showgrounds where there are multiple dance halls.

Mic there is clearly a rave scene down there dont worry

The main multiple dance halls are Vodafone Arena, then Rod Laver Arena, along with a convention hall that holds roughly 2,000 that is located between the two arenas. Then in the surrounding grounds there are marquee's, dedicated to particular genre eg;House or a particular record label eg; The Defected Marquee etc.... its more like the whole Tennis Centre/Complex is overtaken by a dance party.

How is the Two Tribes a rave scene? I don't get the connection. Two Tribes is merely a puffed up club. ROFL dancing along the seats? Superdome did that because they couldn't be bothered closing down the gate before it gets over-crowded.

I don't know what's your definition of a rave but i simply put it as a techno/gabba music played in a warehouse style venue where there is more more 'indivisual' theme to it compared to clubs. Two Tribes on the other hand is more of a commercialised assembly ready to attrack new comers with regulars. Trance party is NOT a rave...and i do stress that thoroughly.

No doubt that Godspeed and Utopia are rave parties because of the industrial style of music i.e. gabba/hardcore and techno. I still wait to see any proper major rave parties held in Melbourne.

I'll be part of the official ITM team photographing the Godspeed event. Which means getting access to front, etc. Will show ya after 2nd July that raves are more than an assembly.

All up I was very dissapointed in Sydney nightlife as far as clubs go - something terrible has happened down there for it to be the way it is. Where are all the cute boys???

Then you have just missed out on Queer Nation featuring Ferry Corsten. There are clubs that most of those blokes go to such as Tank, ARQ and, YU and so on. Gay club scene has scattered away from Oxford St long ago.

What's wrong with ARQ? Frantic vs Night of Trance show was held there and it was a sold out event with full house crowd.

Here are some Pictures from Two Tribes Melbourne 2005

NO RAVE SCENE -

Two tribes has never been considered a rave. It get ravers as part of the crowd and many ex ravers but it is simply not a rave. I have friends that worked on two tribes in melbourne not once did they market or call the party a rave - the same goes for the Sydney Two Tribes. Traditional raves with a very high proportion of raver crowd are Utopia, Godspeed, Hyperspeed, United, Fantasia, Ekythump, etc etc.

If people are disppointed with Sydney nightlife, I suggest find another club or party - the Sydney scene is very mature with respect to supporting different styles and tastes. There is alot to offer just about anyone. BTW our raves heap shit on the raves of any other Australian city and they have done so since they began.

Melbourne's scene is just different, the dancing the music, the style - everything about it feels very alien to a sydney-sider but that's not to say its not good in its own right.

Ok fair enough all the Dockland Parties in Melbourne were nothing were they. They are the most famous in Aus.

Dock sheds converted into raves very popular in the late 1990's aka Welcome 2000 was one of the biggest events ever held in the Southern Hemisphere.

I suggest you buy Decade of Dance DVD it is a cronical of the Australian rave scene, and guess what it is filmed mainly in MELBOURNE, at the Docklands from 1992-2002.

I agree though Melbourne's nightlife is very different to that of Sydeny and I can see why after having partied in Sydney why Sydney-siders would feel out of place in Melbourne. Its more a House/Tribal House/Acid House crowd, and very fashion based, where as dressing up to go out in Sydney was very different, people were still wearing shirts to go clubbing.

has anyone been out clubbing in surfers lately. there was an article in the courier mail about drunken teens loitering the mall and orchird ave and i can tell u that story was 100% correct. there were wannabe cool teens everywhere who were sloshed by 10.30. very trashy! makes brisbane look like a classy place to go out! Surfers - shame, shame, shame!

There are 'fashion based' clubs in Sydney. Suzie Q is one of it...with trendy interior design and small group intensive gathering. Yes, some House/Tribal are trendy but it all depends on the venues. Here's a thing why you would not dress up in raves.

1) Party clogged with smoke
2) You'll be sweating yourself like sponge (if you can dance)
3) The culture amongst ravers (i put that word lightly) are meant that everyone is the same and no discrimination going. That means everyone wears simple clothes i.e. T-shirt and Jean.
4) You don't want your good clothing to be spilled from accidents
5) Some parties have UV lights attached...meaning t-shirts glows. It's 'fun'.

If there are more people sitting down than standing up, wear ya good clothes.

Some of the talk on here about raves and the Sydney's lack of history in the scene is total crap - Melbourne doesn't even have a hardcore scene to speak of. Adelaide was always well respected among ravers and Brisbane also had a heathly scene - hardcore music is dead in melbourne.

Some forget raves in sydney started way back at the hordern parties in the late 80s and early 90s and continued unabated until Anna Wood died... they then picked up again. As for the docklands parties being famous... Utopia has been going since mid 1995. Before that were some even more amazing parties like MDMA series, the Prodigy series, Technicolour, Happiest People series, FOD, Smurf Village, Collosus, Hardware.

Some NYEs where able to support 3 large hardcore style raves all with quite a good turnout. It was more often a question of which party should I go to? This is in addition to the plethora of other parties for differing styles of techno. Even on some weekends for those that like hardcore there have been multiple choices for warehouse style raves.

If people that have come to sydney can't find suitable enjoyment I suggest they open their eyes.

Mabee at straight clubs in the city or Petrie Terrace - LOL.
Not in the Valley as its a totally different scene - button up shirts are out - Tshirts or Tanks are in.

You won't see many shirts in Brisbane's party scene either - very rare. Summer attire for Brisbane is Tanks and Jeans and Boardies for big raves and parties in summer are popular.

One thing I did notice about the Sydney party scene though - very drab clothing with lots of brown and black while Brisbane tends to be brighter Tshirts. Brisbane people (boys) dress much sexier than Sydney boys too - even the straight ones.

Go to Fringe or Family on a Saturday night and see what I mean.

@ Matixvolta - I heard Queer Nation was a bit average though I would like to go to the next one. Toybox should be good because Ruby is playing - one of my fav dj's.

Godspeed. For the first time Sydney Entertainment Centre has been converted into a warehouse style rave equipped with lazers, pylons, spotlights and presentations. Strictly 5000 punters, no more, no less. Has been sold out 2 weeks in advance and only 100 got sold at box office for 110 bucks each.

There were three clubs played at the centre. The main arena, capital room and one at the foyer on 1st level.

I was a VIP member which means i had access to many sites such as behind the decks at Capitol Room, drinkies and so on. For course, a free entry and permission to bring my camera. I was a member of the press for ITM.

Yes Godspeed was awesome, what a great night I had. Got there at just before 10 and partied until just after 6am. This is the first rave ever held in the Sydney Entertainment Centre, was a different experience from those familiar with the Superdome raves. What I was surprised to see was the full concourse open for us to play in, and the floor was perfect for dancing on with just the right amount of slip and softness, and no obstacles (short of the 3b's bodies, bags and bottles).

That black roof and those hugely watted full colour lasers... fricken awesome, not to mention the massive 10 or so video screens around the walls - to my amazement it seems Sam and his lighting guys have also found Google Earth, with some video flyins over the SET from space. Those vertical coloured strobe lights also did the trick.

Yah what a fun night. BTW great photos mate, esp with so much smoke and haze in the venue, some of those laser shots are amazing.

I do have dissappoints though. They didn't play gabba for some odd reason. The theme of godspeed was to be sinister and haunted, yet the music was not even close to it. Just listened to old school tekno (not techno) and there's a hell of a gap. Faster and much more provocative.

Still waiting for a rave with proper teckno/hardcore instead of childish happy hardcore.

As loud as ya wanna crank the speakers up, it still doesn't send pulses down my spine if it ain't fast enough. Fast as in 210bpm+.

I'm a hard critic to impress. :)

Haha so true, but I like happy hardcore so its all good :)

I have to admit I was expecting far more edgy and dark hardcore sets... possible some gabba, or industrial techno and even a bit of german or dutch speedcore/killcore. The party suited most people with lighter hardcore. Like Chris says, it did not really live up to the expectation of the title Godspeed "Darkside" but i prefer the happy, cheesy hardcore anyway.

Dancing to gabba all night requires the inclusion of far more vitamins than usual.

Depot is down in a new area of the valley called emporium - its basicaly a few doz restaurants and cafes with a siriani's supermarket - nothing special. I have heard good things about depot though.

Perhaps if your in Brisbane you should try something that you can't get in Melbourne or Sydney - like one of our Ice Vodka Bars. They are pretty cool - litterally as the temperature is usually below zero and they give you coats to wear.

As for other kinds of places - music, there should be heaps happening in the valley both on the street and in the clubs so you should be able to find anything you want.

Depents on what type of gay venue your after?

I like Family on Sunday nights - it goes till dawn and its quite packed. Family on Sunday nights is called "fluffy" - its quite good. If you want the full family experience go on a Friday or Saturday night when all four levels are open. The top is amazing.

There is the Beat nightclub on Ann St The Valley - it pumps from Thurs to Sunday nights. Down stairs it is hardcore trance and techno while upstairs plays all those 'handbag favorites' from the 70s through to the present. It gets pretty packed and has a really diverse crowd.

Then there is The Wickham Hotel on the corner of Alden and Wickham Streets - this is where all the muscle boys and shirtless wonders hang out but doesn't get going till after 1am so if you turn up at midnight don't dispare - it gets better. It is like Brisbane's answer to the Midnight shift in Sydney. They play a mixture of commercial with trance anthems mixed in.

Then there is The Sportsmans Hotel (Sporties) in Spring Hill on Liechhardt Street. Its where the older crowd hang out and is also very diverse. Its a bit like a big RSL only the people are crazy and anything goes. You will see many tragic drag queens at this place - anything from 18 to 80.

Downstairs from Sporties is The Mine Shaft, its basically a leather bar full of very camp leather queens. No women are allowed as there is a maze with a variety of themed rooms at the back. Hardcore porno's play on a TV screen above the bar - so its that kind of place.

Well if your into that kind of place then Brisbane has no shortage of those either - there are 5 sex on premises venues around the city but I can PM you with that info if you require.

There are plenty of mixed venues as well such as GPO and The Fringe - I recomend a drink at Fringe Bar as it attracts the hottest boys you have ever seen.

If you need any more info just let me know.

Re smoking ban - fantastic bring it on! As a non smoker its quite annoying when you are having a good time at a club or event and someone is smoking on the dance floor - especially for me as I get hayfever from it. As said before - a few sudafed fixes the problem and goes great with alcaholic drinks;)

Does this mean that smoking machines will be banned too. I remember once i was dancing near the damn thing and had my mouth opened(!) coughed like crazy.. but they seem to be used less these days.
Also no smoking on the dance floor is a great idea, i don't know how many times you step on stupid butts. When i went to es paradis and they flooded the club, all of the butts were floating and it was pretty foul, i didn't care and i still wish we had a club like es paradis <tear>

Thanks for all that JayT. We'll see how we go i guess! I thin the Valley is gunna be packed this w/e with the fiesta on......

Wow yes, I enjoyed Prophesy one of the best nights I have had in ages. However, the party was a bit smaller than the usual Superdome Utopia parties and the lighting was IMO not as good as it normally is ... but Sam still put on a great night.

I always say Party in Sydney, Shop in Melbourne and Live in Brisbane.
The Clubs are great in Sydney I will say. People in Sydney are very friendly too.

As for awards - I didn't know about Sunbar but it is pretty funky compared with what I have seen in other capitals - I just thought it was a Valley thing. Also about Family - its amazing when I go out in Sydney or Melbourne and tell people I'm from Brisbane - the first thing they say is "have you been to Family?". I do take Family for granted because I only live 10 minutes walk away and go quite often on a Sunday night - pretty lucky when you consider whats in other capitals. Though I do like Arq on a Sunday night too, same vibe just not as funky.

You mean Arq's 'The Night of Trance' parties? I kinda find Arq a bit iffy. The main hall is alright, but the lower floor with pooltable and mini-dance floor. They can do better. I think Arq needs a bit of renovation too. The sound resonates on upper level which is pretty bad.

The worst club i have been to is Suzie Q. It sucks...

You probably know that i don't stick to one club every week. Regular punters get those VIP offers because of discounts... Same people, same vibe, gets boring.

I'm more of a club/rave tropper - goes there who's on the deck. I usually avoid going to Gas/Home/Space. Especially Gas! More people sitting down than standing up, all waiting till the place if full. Shy and all.

They play different styles of music for different events.

I just came back from VooDoo, which Marco V, Mauro Picotto and Ben Bates were all playing electro/psy-trance.

Scot Brown, Hixxy and DJ Impact will be playing hardcore/hardstyle music.

There are two different scenes. Raves and clubs. Clubs are held at nightclubs and raves are usually held at big venues like stadiums, entertainment centre, etc. Raves are much faster, bass intensive then clubs. They usually don't drink alcohol, just plain water to sustain themeselves.

Raves used to be really big in the UK about 10 years ago, and I guess it became more main stream and people tended to move to super clubs and events like Creamfields etc. Though there are still some illegal raves around, and they do just drink water but with a few E's thrown in.
I prefer a good club which plays handbag house, trance etc and a few cheesy songs that we all secretly love - if its gay even better as you can get away with more!. I heard that Tina Cousins was big there is that true? as shes got a new single and album out soon.
Do you find alot of American or European music played, Euro being the better!

Euro definetely. Most of the DJs are from Europe especially UK, Germany and Holland. Haven't heard of the Tina Cousins yet.

When you speak to an average raver in Sydney, the first thing they pop in their mind is that it has to be cheerful and happy. I so hate it, i want it rough, industrial and dark. Sydney doesn't have that kind of menality because all these school kids coming along with coloured wrist band and baggy fluro pants dancing to super cheesy happy hardcore music.

Raves haven't gone to clubs yet. Here, they just hire out warehouses, big sport venues or industial sites. Trying to keep with the 90s tradition of being underground and secretive. Heaps of raves where ya gotta call them up at 6pm on that night to know the location, but its all legal.

I have always thought that the gay scene would be more of uplifting trance, instead of hardstyle. I dunno, that's how i end up with that conclusion while photographing at club and raves for some time.

I guess the poll is completely rigged since a lot forumers just choose their city instead of even knowing about the nightlife. You can add Canberra + Melbourne + Brisbane and it still isn't big enough to match Sydney's clublife.

Actually i have. You know what? None of the raves or clubs are actually in North Shore, so it defeats the purpose why you even mention about it anyways. The last club-bar i been in North Shore was Greenwood, North Shore and its very puney.

Over many years of going to clubs in and out and reporting for inthemix, i have never been to a particular event which closes THAT early. The vast majority opens at around 10pm to 7am the next morning. Melbourne does NOT have a rave scene, but rather based more on house and break. Brisbane holds events around twice every month, but Sydney holds at least 4 a month usually helped by the big landmark events like Godspeed, Utopia, Prophecy, Hard Wars, Scattered and all other productions.

Why not just have a look at what's on in Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane to see the size and quantity of each club events. The list speaks for itself.

Yup, there are daylight parties.

Just last Saturday 'Harbourlife' was held which had like over 10,000 punters going to Sydney foreshore not far from Sydney Opera House to party till 10pm. These daylight parties are usually produced by Fuzzy Production which is well renounced throughout Australia for holding general dance scenes in daytime. Justin Hemme's Good Vibration scene is getting good recognition as well, and the next one will be held in Centennial Park on 18th Feb. Big Day Out (major Rock and hip-hop festival) has been sold out which will be on Feb next year.

Don't forget the SydneyFestival. just plethoria of Jazz scenes, family outtings, free concerts and exhibitions.

And the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Held every Feb attracting 200,000 spectators. Watching all those nifty floats.

New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are the biggest calander days in Sydney because all the producers are gearing up, opening their doors and hiring international artists and DJs to come along.

Actually DEAN I have partied many times in Sydney, Melbourne and of course Brisbane and I have to say that Sydney's nightlife and entertainment scene absolutely SHITS all over Melbourne's nightlife. Melbourne is good for shopping but I would rather party in Sydney or even Brisbane for that matter. No need for an expensive $20 or $30 dollar cab trip between clubs in Brisbane and Sydney - they are all close together, you can walk from club to club if you are into club hopping.

I just got back from Sydney today and basically partied from 11pm on Saturday night through to 8am this morning. (yes I am exhausted) But I could not have done that in Melbourne or even Brisbane where clubs like The Market close at 3am Monday Morning. Brisbane is not much better with Family closing at 3:30am to 4am. Day clubs don't even open till 7am in some cases - Sydney has a smooth transition all the way through.

For clubbing and nightlife give me Sydney any day, Brisbane second for transport ease and proximity within the clublands, Melbourne has nice clubs but its all too sparse which makes for an expensive night in terms of transport.

Um...

I was there at Cargo Bar last Friday. Pretty plane. Had access to all areas (VIP) but yeah, the balcony was refreshing with Darling Park 3 view.

However i loved the JBL Speaker System which was introduced back when i was attending the inthemixtop50 countdown.

My weekend:

Friday - Voodoo 9th B'day
Saturday - Hard Wars Outdoor

Next week - break

2 weeks later - Gatecrasher

3 weeks later - House party at night + Godspeed starting 10pm

ARQ needs a serious refurb. The sound system is getting worn off and the lower dancefloor need to get a proper sound system.

Yes it is, there was a very good story about Justin Hemmes in the Sydney Magazine ( monthly glossy mag is SMH ) last week and everything has been approved and building will start soon. It might not be tall but it will be very classy and VERY MASSIVE ( heaps of bars. entertainment and dining as well as conferencing facilities ) and add another string in the bow of Syd nitelife.
