Listed DMCI Holdings Inc. (DMCI) yesterday said its construction unit D.M. Consunji Inc. has bagged a P8.59 billion contract to build a gaming complex at the Pagcor City in Pasay.
The contract with Sureste Properties Inc., which is investing $1 billion into the gaming venture, covers construction and development of an 11-story hotel and a three-level entertainment podium with a covered floor area of 180,000 sq.m. Construction will run for 22 months.
Sureste Properties, which is controlled by Enrique K. Razon, is a partner of Bloomberry Resorts and Hotels Inc. for the development of the casino complex.
D.M. Consunji will also build the P625 million Makati Diamond Residences of the San Miguel Group. Makati Diamond Residences is a 28-floor, four-basement residential condominium in Legaspi Village in Makati. Building will take 26 months.
Completing the list of D.M. Consunji’s new contracts is the P117 million One Network Bank office in Sasa, Davao City, which will serve as the headquarters of Mindanao-based lender.

ONE Network Bank, considered the widest rural bank in the country in terms of reach, is building a P230-million seven-story main headquarters.
Alex V. Buenaventura, president of the bank, said the building of the new headquarters is among the key programs of the bank this year.
The bank needs the headquarters considering that it will continue expanding this year with 10 branches already in the pipeline, among them a branch in Makati City as rural banks are allowed to apply for a branch in the financial capital of the country.
The budget for the headquarters is about a fourth of the P800 million that the bank is planning to spend this year for its branching and the rollout of the points of sale facilities. Buenaventura said the construction of the new building is scheduled to be completed in Janaury next year.
Aside from Makati City, the bank is also setting up five branches initially for areas in the Visayas and the remainder will be in Mindanao, including the one in Baganga, Davao Oriental.
The bank is setting aside P15 million for the setting up of each branch and another P15 million for the capital of the branch.
“In terms of expansion (in Mindanao), I think we are already in the 80% level,” said Buenaventura, adding that the bank already has 81 branches of the 100 branches that it is targeting in Mindanao, particularly the areas that are either unbanked or underbanked.
With the wide reach, the bank is able to offer to the countryside services that only commercial banks are offering like automated teller machines and check clearing. On the checks clearing,
Buenaventura is even the only rural bank that has this service.
The bank is also allocating P50 million for the rollout for information and communications technology software and hardware facilities.
This year, the bank is rolling out about 1,000 point of sale systems, although the bank is not spending for the systems as these are to be rented.

same observation
davaoeagle June 2nd, 2011, 03:31 AM ^^
The topmost floor looks a little short but surely that is another usable level.
WawaY[625] June 2nd, 2011, 03:43 AM Its not counted if its area is for minor purposes lang
Case in point Metrobank Uyanguren. One may assume nga 9 storeys ito but Metrobank (at least nung bago pa ang building) used to refer to this building as 8 storeys. That 9th floor is only accessible (If I remember correctly) via the fire exist staircase.bale penthouse lang kasi yan and parang function room lang and they do not refer to it as 9th floor per se

WawaY[625] June 2nd, 2011, 03:58 AM OK nalibog ko gamay, are you guys referring to the part nga naay ONB sign or kanang sa likod pa? either way, IMO, its safer to qualify it as 7 since mas clear naman na 7 floors ito than 8 :)

http://www.sunstar.com.ph/davao/business/2011/06/10/megalink-awards-onb-top-onsite-offsite-2010-160505
ONE Network Bank (ONB), the widest banking network in Mindanao recently received two major MegaLink awards.
These are the 2010 Top Onsite ATM Award for its ONB M'lang North Cotabato Branch PeraAgad ATM with 141,747 interbank transactions as of end 2010 and 2010 Top Offsite ATM Award for its PeraAgad ATM deployed in Gaisano Mall, Cagayan de Oro City with 119,404 interbank transactions as of end 2010.
ONB is the only member bank receiving awards in both award categories.

MegaLink handed out the awards to ONB president Alex V. Buenaventura during its MegaLink Members' Appreciation Cocktails and Shareholders Meeting held last May 24 at the BDO Corporate Center, Makati Ave., Makati City.
The bank became an equity member of MegaLink in 2006, the same year the bank also bagged its first Award for Best-selling Offsite ATM Location in GMall, Cagayan de Oro.
Last year, ONB also bagged the award for 2009 Most Strategically Located ATMs for its 13 PeraAgad ATMs belonging in the top 50 onsite ATMs and another 8 in the top 50 offsite ATMs of MegaLink nationwide.
One Network Bank (ONB) continues to expand its network of ATMs to provide customers with easier access to their money particularly those residing in the countryside. It is currently operating a total of 80 branches and 107 ATMs throughout Mindanao with a cardholder base of 310,000.
ONB recently installed an ATM in its newly opened branch in Babak, Island Garden City of Samal and in Mountain View College a Seventh-Day Adventist Institution located in Mt. Nebo, Bukidnon.
It looks forward to further network expansion with the opening of 5 new branches and installation of additional 36 ATMs by end of 2011.
MegaLink, is the country's pioneering ATM and financial services provider and the first shared operational ATM network in the country with a total of 22 member institutions.

tj_brewed June 23rd, 2011, 08:50 PM Construction of 7-storey bank center in full swing
Sunstar Davao (http://www.sunstar.com.ph/davao/business/2011/06/24/construction-7-storey-bank-center-full-swing-162883)
CONSTRUCTION of the seven-storey corporate building that will serve as One Network Bank's (ONB) central headquarters is now in full swing.
The homegrown ONB, the widest rural banking network in the Philippines with 80 branches and 106 ATMs all over Mindanao, recently held the first pouring of concrete for the construction of its ONB Center at Km. 9 in Sasa, Davao City.
The total project cost is estimated at P200 million, 50 percent of the total capital expenditures (Capex) set by the bank for this year. The other 50 percent of the Capex is allotted for the banks' expansion program.
In an earlier interview, Alex Buenaventura, ONB president, said they expected the ONB Center to be completed by early next year.
The first pouring of concrete started with the blessing of the construction site officiated by Davao City Archbishop Fernando R. Capalla, D.D.
The event was led by Buenaventura, together with ONB vice-chairman Antonio P. Avelino, Board of Director Antonio R. Cabreira Jr., and Architect Pablito P. Labao.
ONB group heads Romulo Guererro and Dario Magnaye, Loreto Dalangin, ONB Civil Works Department head, and Engr. Raymundo P. Pronda of D.M. Consunji Inc. (DMCI) also took part in the ceremony.
The multi-storey corporate center is currently under construction by DMCI, known today as the country's prime "Builder of Landmarks" and pioneer of advanced engineering technology application in Philippine construction.
This future Davao City landmark is a product of collaborative efforts of the country's leading building consultants in structural, electro-mechanical and sanitary engineering as well as in interior design.
Due to be completed in March 2012, the structure, with its 9,670 square meters of space, will unite and be home to all of the 300 ONB head office employees, a move towards streamlining the bank's branch support system in its vision of being the primary provider of modern banking services to Mindanao's countryside.
ONB Center will also house state-of-the-art training facilities for the officers and staff of the bank.

ONB builds corporate center in Davao City
SUNDAY, 26 JUNE 2011
By: M. Cayon
DAVAO CITY*—The One Network Bank (ONB) would soon be headquartered in a seven-story building here that would soon rise next year in a testament to its faith in the bankability of the Mindanao countryside.
The P117-million building would be constructed by the D.M. Consunji Inc. (DMCI), one of the country’s leading real-estate builders, inside a 9,670-square-meter area along the national highway in Sasa, nine kilometres north of downtown.
The building would be the home of all 300 ONB Head Office employees in the bid of the bank management to streamline the ONB branch support system and to house state-of-the-art training facilities.
The ONB is the widest rural banking network in the Philippines with 80 branches and 106 automated teller machines (ATMs) all over Mindanao. The ceremonial pouring of cement was made on June 3 led by ONB officers Alex V. Buenaventura, president and Antonio P. Avelino, vice chairman, and officiated by Archbishop Fernando R. Capalla of Davao City.
The building would be completed in March next year. --M. Cayon

ONE Network Bank has set aside P212 million in capital expenditure this year, half of which will go to its main center and another P35 million for electronic banking technology. The bank said in a statement that it has earmarked P120 million for a seven-story main corporate center, a 9,670-square meter building which will have a footprint of 1,182 square meters per floor and an additional of 1,296 square meters for its basement.
The new building will have a three state-of-the art training rooms, a 200-seater modern cafeteria, two executive dining lunges, a customer service call center, a modern data center, an executive committee conference room equipped with a videoconferencing facility and a roofdeck that can accommodate 1,000 people.

The bank will again set aside another P120 million for the furniture and other facilities for the center which is scheduled to be completed in March next year.

As part of its investment in technology, the bank is also setting up 36 automated teller machines this year to boost its fleet to 140 machines by the end of the year. This will cost the bank P17 million.

ONB completes merger with New Corella
By Lawrence Agcaoili
The Philippine Star (http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?publicationSubCategoryId=66&articleId=731562)
September 28, 2011 12:00 AM
MANILA, Philippines - The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved the plan of agreement and articles of consolidation paving the merger between Davao-based One Network Rural Bank Inc. and Rural Bank of New Corella (Davao del Norte).
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) through Circular Letter 2011-069 announced the incorporation of One Network Bank Inc. (A Rural Bank) with the approval of the plan of agreement and articles of consolidation of the two banks.
As early as January this year, the BSP has given the largest rural bank in the Visayas and Mindanao areas the greenlight to merge its operations with Rural Bank of New Corella that was acquired in August last year.
Rural Bank of New Corella is the fourth bank in the merged One Network Bank. Other banks included the former Rural Bank of Panabo of Davao del Norte, Provident Rural Bank of Cotabato, and Network Rural Bank of Davao del Sur.
Based on its proposal with the BSP, the bank wants to consolidate with the RB New Corella, thereby absorbing its operations since it will be renamed as One Network Bank Inc.
Latest data showed that total deposits of One Network Bank is nearing the P10-billion level while total loans is approaching the P7-billion mark. At the end of the first semester of 2011, the biggest rural bank in Mindanao reported total deposits amounting to P9.9 billion, or an approximate 34 percent growth rate from the P7.381 billion in the same period last year.
The rate of growth mimics the previous record high growth of 37 percent in deposits achieved last year versus previous year of 2009.
Total resources likewise ballooned to P12.3 billion in the first six months of 2011, or 30 percent higher than P9.48 billion recorded in the same period last year.
ONB president Alex Buenaventura said the huge increase in deposits was due to an increase in number of branches from 75 to 81 that widened the base of low-cost current accounts-savings account (CASA) depositors.
“Attractive time deposit interest rates brought in large depositors who are also commercial bank clients, and an increase in number of ATMs (automated teller machines) from 93 units to 107 units, generating a 26-percent increase in ATM active cardholder base from 251,000 in June 2010 to 316,000 end of the first half of 2011,” Buenaventura said.
ONB has a total depositor base of 525,000 accounts end June this year.
Meanwhile, loan portfolio quality improved as the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio declined to four percent as of end June 2011 from the six percent NPL ratio in the same period last year.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has been encouraging thrift, rural, and cooperative banks to consolidate their operations to boost the competitiveness of the industry.
The BSP recently tied up with the state-run Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. (PDIC) and Land Bank of the Philippines for a coordinated incentive program designed to support the development of a stronger cooperative banking sector.
BSP Governor Amando Tetangco Jr. earlier said the Strengthening Program for Cooperative Banks (SPCB) would ensure that cooperative banks could meet the capital requirements set by the central bank.
Data from the BSP showed that there are 40 operating cooperative banks in the country with resources aggregating P15.9 billion as of end-March.
While the assets of the cooperative banking sector accounts for only a small fraction of the assets of the entire banking system, the BSP said it plays a vital role in the financial system since almost all of these 40 cooperative banks operate in the countryside
These banks, according to the central bank, provide the much needed financial services to hundreds of primary and federation cooperatives and their individual members who usually face difficulties in accessing banking services.
In August last year, a similar program for rural banks dubbed as the Strengthening Program for Rural Banks (SPRB) involving P5 billion in financial assistance was launched. To date, not a single transaction has been completed.

Sa akong nasinati nga ang kasagaran mga banko kay mamalit ug gagmay nga banko aron makadani ug mga investors and only for them (i.e. investors) to find out that in the end nga losing diay ug after a year or two kay magsarado na.
Ang lain sab nilang strategy kay mag-offer ug taas nga interest rates sa mga depositors ug ang mga inosente sab nga mga depositors kay mokagat only to find out also that in a year or two magsarado diay. Daghan kong nahibaw-an nga nabiktima ani nga modus. Dako ug kita ang banko maski magsarado pa sila kay nagsalig man kay ang gobyerno man pabayaron. Sa ilaha kay "There is nothing personal, it is strictly business."
Sana dili ingon ani ang mahitabo.

Yes, ONB is really big.

"PURELY BUSINESS!"
Pila kabook sa inyong tan-aw magsarado nga mga banko karong umaabot?
- Beats me, let's ask P|D|I|C.
- Don't worry dili dali magsarado ang maski kinsang bangko kay naa ang B|S|P to the rescue. (with the exception of most rural banks)

shanswizard October 5th, 2011, 10:26 PM I already became a victim of two bank closures for the past two years.
The first one was with Legacy group (which is still under trial up to this day grrrr)
And the second was with Banco Filipino.
Good thing all our assets were splitted into multiple small accounts to be included in the PDIC insurance coverage.
Dynomite October 6th, 2011, 12:24 AM It's good that you did not put all of your eggs in one basket. Meanwhile, if your purpose of putting your money in the bank is only to save then think again. You may put your money only for liquidity purpose. I'm sure that you are well aware that banks normally give a maximum of 6% for a long term investment (i.e. Time deposit) and at 2% per annum for savings account. Eventually, banks will only loan your money to other entities at 23% or more on interest rates. Others also put it in high yield investments while some even gamble diverting or should I say malverse their assets to other form of investments. Blah! Blah! Blah! (Just my two cents worth.)
