I remember people mentioning a landmark (to compete with - or be brisbanes version OF the opera house) to be built in southbank.

I also notice that Austcorp is trying to make some development in southbank on 'The Mazda Site'

Are these the same things?

If so i have complete trust in Austcorp to make a landmark of exceptional quality

If not, any info on the old proposal?

and what do u think Austcorps is

The mazda site is being used for a medium density commerical/residential development. It definately wont be a landmark: i think the tallest building will be 7 or 8 levels, with the deveopment based on the ("sucessful") James street precinct in New Farm.

Also it isn't just Auscorp. There are other developers involved (just don't ask me their names)

There are several things that I think you could be talking about, but I think you're talking about the proposal to build a theatre on the Mazda site. This was not choosen by the government as the correct development for the site. The guy who thought this up has had this idea for several years now, and every now and then chooses another site. I believe the site he is working on at the moment is in West End near the river.
