sOmeOne October 3rd, 2004, 10:49 PM Impressive! Chinese cities look very rich, certainly much better than American cities.
To tell you the truth, I respect China deeply. Your civilization is thousands of years old and you are still going strong. That is something to be proud of. I am also happy there are people like you who take their time to share this beautiful country with us and break the stereotypes that have been lurking around for decades. I really hope to see China overtake the US and become the world's largest economy. You guys deserve it. We need a multipolar world. Just don't get hung up on military power. Soviet Union did that, and we paid for it.

sOmeOne October 4th, 2004, 12:30 AM BTW, you guys seem to be setting the trend for all new Russian skyscrapers.
Almost all hi-rises in Russia look like the ones in China. Here's an example:

John October 11th, 2004, 02:07 AM These are nice commies, in fact some of them don't even look like commieblocks ;)
@sOmeOne
Russian commieblocks don't look like Chinese, not at all. I can easily distinguish which ones are Chinese and which ones are Russian. Chinese residentials usually have more style and some details typical to Asian cities. While Russian commieblocks mosly look either like plain boxes or have those typical Russian castle-like towers on the top (Edelweiss, Triumph palace etc.).
P.S. I know I'm evil
PEK October 23rd, 2004, 07:08 AM can someone tell me what exactly is commie block? I am very confused
Facial October 23rd, 2004, 12:02 PM Theres a post in the Russian thread about the definition of a commieblock.
I tell you, when I see one, I know whether it's 1. a building or 2. a commieblock by pure instinct.

Thank you.
Russians have a great deal to be proud of as well. You guys currently have the largest territory stretching from Europe to Asia, the only other people have ever done that were the Mongols. Also, the former Soviet Union was able to delay the U.S. from becoming the world dictator for some time, I can only hope China can carry on the torch.
I do agree that we need a multipolar world, this is something both China and Russia have always agreed on. I also agree that China shouldn't become as militaristic aggressive as the U.S. is now.
Russia today is still nothing to sneeze at. I am glad that Russia gave China the boost it needed in space technology :)
postmodern October 31st, 2004, 08:14 AM Impressive! Chinese cities look very rich, certainly much better than American cities.

Your overpraise puts many of us into shame, actually.
The Soviet Union was not only a military power, it was also an economy power, education power, industry power etc. Even today, Russia has a much better social welfare system, higher GDP per capita and so on.
I don't wanna talk about the thousands of years civilization, since it might be the only pride we can take now, but I know exactly that we have the most problems that have to deal with.
We cannot be beclouded by only some of the shiny buildings, even if all these sparkling buildings spread all over the land, we have nothing to be proud of, economy is only one of the qualifications to be a power, and quantity and quality of buildings don't equal to economic strength. Behind these buildings, there are poorly-dressed people begging for money, longing for elementary education, crying against their unjust destiny.
A fair and just society is not based on economy, without enough original drives, there would be nothing left to support the economy. Sadly, the Chinese economy is not healthy, and the society is still full of flaws.
Chinese people have been losing their morality. You can hardly find people with public morality in cities, and those from rural areas have no concept about what morality is, they just live what they've been used to. People in public places are full of themselves, they don't mind breaking the rules or harming others just for themselves, even there is nothing good for themselves, they'll still do so because they are accustomed and they think it is their personality and the characteristics of the modern Chinese. They're now cold and relentless, they don't care about the poors and the weaks. Thanks to market economy, they'll do whatever that will present money to them, so they grab money by cheating, damaging the environment, hurting others, whatever.
The officials are worse. What they do all time are counting their money and eating in luxurious hotels, going whoring and wasting as much as they can. They're trying to hollow out the country for their cheap and meaningless life. The corruption becomes a tradition, and is getting more and more serious.
Social problems are all time high, you can find every kind of inequality problems, and those happenings of unfairness emerge more and more frequently, the seriousness is to a frazzle.
The people seem to be dumb at all these, at least they can still dream about their history and culture, ancestors with full of wisdom, vast land, diversity...
The Chinese are losing their good traditions and can't catch up with the new world trend, they need a lot to do to arouse their power from the deep inside, they need to know that large amount of money is more worthless than their good traditions and their national consciousness, the real power is not coming from money or extravagance, but the self-discipline according with the public morality. To extend it further, not only the virtue of the people from the remote age must be succeeded and promoted, but the consciousness of keeping track of the trend of the world, the learning of new concepts and things from the West -- the leader of the modern times, is also a key to create real power. After people get out of the confusion(it requires time and struggle), and are no longer obsessed with the superficial prosperity, we can have the chance to be a world power, and then create a new era again to let the Chinese culture spread over the world.

:wtf:
IloveGeorgeBush July 27th, 2005, 08:13 PM What happened to the racist comments posted by Takurasa?
Pangu July 28th, 2005, 01:20 AM What happened to the racist comments posted by Takurasa?
Until admins regain their ability to ban flamers and trolls, mods are instructed to simply delete any offensive posts or spams.
Facial July 28th, 2005, 07:14 AM What did Takurasa say?
IloveGeorgeBush July 28th, 2005, 12:03 PM ^Shit about Chinese cities and how Chinese people look.

You sound so tough, chinamen. Why didnt you chinamen acted this tough when we invaded your country? Why didnt you chinamen acted this tough when we raped your mom? Why didnt you chinamen acted this tough when we forced your sons to rape their moms? Why didnt you chinamen acted this tough when we forced your fathers to rape their daughters? Why didnt you chinamen acted this tough when we froze/boiled/burned your bodies in Manchukuo for experiements? Why didnt you chinamen acted this tough when we used your ugly women for our sexual pleasure?
We dont hide anything, we can make amendments but the way you chinese act now is MORE worse than what we did.
YelloPerilo is infesting dirty chinese germs in Germany. chinese please get out of Germany
(In other thread)
1.4 billion or 14 billion i dont care. They are all just chinamen. 1 Japanese is more than enough for 1.4 billion chinese. Tell me, what did you guys contribute to the modern society?
IloveGeorgeBush July 28th, 2005, 02:46 PM He should be banned as soon as possible. He's an unsufferable racist monkey.
Blue_Copper July 28th, 2005, 02:52 PM What the hell is going on in this thread!!!! where are the Modes?
IloveGeorgeBush July 28th, 2005, 03:34 PM We're trying to get this racist donkey by the name of Tukrasa banned.
Pangu July 28th, 2005, 03:57 PM Admins are already fully aware of takurasa. He will be banned as soon as admins regain their powers. As some of you may know, we're still recovering from the hackers' attack.
IloveGeorgeBush July 28th, 2005, 04:16 PM How long will that take?
YelloPerilo July 28th, 2005, 04:31 PM Didn't they already ban that Vietnamese troll Luclacsomething?
IloveGeorgeBush July 28th, 2005, 04:35 PM ^ No, we're talking about Takurasa. You know, that Japanese person who keeps on bashing the Chinese with bad grammar.
YelloPerilo July 28th, 2005, 04:53 PM Yes I know who we are talking about. That Vietnamese guy and Takatuka were best buddies whenever there is something to demonise China.
Well, that Vietnamese guy was the lesser evil of the two. He was Takatuka's little lap dog who could be quite reasonable when Takatuka is not around. So, I am wondering why he got banned first and Takatuka is still roaming around?
Pangu July 28th, 2005, 05:38 PM I just found out that LacLongQuan was finally banned.
As far as I know, admins haven't regained their power yet so they aren't able to ban trolls and flamers by themselves. So perhaps Janz banned LacLongQuan personally. But don't worry though, admins are fully aware of takarusa's deeds and he will be dealt with accordingly...
dingyunyang179 July 28th, 2005, 05:46 PM ^ No, we're talking about Takurasa. You know, that Japanese person who keeps on bashing the Chinese with bad grammar.
We are not hostile to all Japanese.
But Takurasa, the japanese racist, always attempt to satire or slander China and Chinese in any aspects. It is very difficult to carry on the rational communication with him.
China certainly has very many problems.
But it is not all too bad in all domains.
ChicagoUrbanlife July 30th, 2005, 04:03 AM I want to see all of Takurasa's negative comments.
Where is everyone????
Pangu July 30th, 2005, 04:16 AM I want to see all of Takurasa's negative comments.
I can't speak for other mods but I didn't delete any of takurasa's offensive threads in the Taiwan section.
I want to keep them there so everyone can see what kind of person he is. I believe deleting his offensive posts is like erasing criminal records of a murderer...
Sen July 30th, 2005, 04:24 AM i am tryin to get takurasa banned, but the mods seem to have some problems with banning people, both Jan and RafflesCity have told me that takurasa is banned, but i found his status is still not "BANNED" which means he can still freely visit and post on the site. We are trying to address the problem sorry for any inconveince caused.
Jingtian: until takurasa is banned, i am responsible to delete any posts which contains messages that are offensive and racist. his posts are not deleted, they are only not seen to non-staff, we can still see them and they should be used as evidence. I didnt purposely delete your posts and i am sorry for any misunderstanding caused. I cant visit this site very frequently so again i am sorry for not to respond you immediately.
Sen July 30th, 2005, 04:53 AM btw maybe you are not aware of his posting patterns, he has been around chinese forums quite a while try to stir up trouble, what he posts have nothing to do with the topic and add nothing valuable to the dicussion, that's why i deleted his posts, and from now on i have decided to delete any posts made by him until he is banned. that's a new policy i have adapted and as mod of the chinese forums i have the right to do so. i didn't intentionally delete your posts, i just deleted them all together, and i didn't delete your "7th floor post" at all. (not according to you deleted it then restroed it.) if you have any problems or complaints feel free to PM me or send email to me, it's in my profile.
cheers.
asianguy August 1st, 2005, 08:27 PM Seems that these people have an inferiority complex that can only be addressed by wanton criticism.
subway_man December 24th, 2007, 11:33 PM I know the thread is way too old and dusty, but anyway, maybe someone has the photos that were posted here?
I miss them, hope there will be a repost :)
z0rg December 27th, 2007, 11:38 AM ^^ We have an archaeologist here! :D
leo_sh December 28th, 2007, 12:23 PM Your overpraise puts many of us into shame, actually.
This comment is really cynical, and arrogant. Whenever I read "then create a new era again to let the Chinese culture spread over the world", I can't help laughing. What do you think you are? Superrace? Alien?
xtraxxl January 2nd, 2008, 12:59 AM a bunch of arrows???
BTW, residential buildings all over east asia (apartments) are like that, and the old apartments in Canada are like that too. Asian countries don't have a lot of all glass condos b/c of the expensive utilities, it has nothing to do with communism.
