iraqishi3i June 2nd, 2011, 12:48 PM ughh i hate our coat of arms it simply represents saddam and all those other arab countries , i read on another forum that this should be our coat of arms and i liked the idea lol

Spin Cycle June 2nd, 2011, 02:56 PM Great thread.
I'm not sure about the first one - Sumerian? I thought the wings+ring symbol was Assyrian and originated in Egypt. The Babylonians didn't have that symbol, and since Babylon and Assyrian are from Sumeria, it leads me to feel that the Assyrians imported it after Sumeria.

I like it, but it's dishonest. We are not the ancient Iraqis, we're Arabs from the Arabian peninsula. No point denying our Arab-ness and pretending we are the children of some great civilisations like the Sumerians, Assyrians and Babylonians.
Yousifovic June 2nd, 2011, 03:10 PM ^^ LOL uve got a wrong info about that ... Iraqis are not originally arabs. There are 2 types of Arabs, El arab el asleyeen (original arabs) and el arab el mustaarebeen ( converted arabs) .. the original arabs are the ones in the Arabian peninsula which are from Yemen. But the other arabs which are in Iraq, Sham, Egypt and the westen nations in the Arab world are not real arabs ! they became arabs after Islam entered those contries !
PS where are you from ? lol
Spin Cycle June 2nd, 2011, 03:21 PM Yes I'm aware of the distinction between "original" Arabs and "Arabised" Arabs. I think we are predominantly the former. AFAIK, Iraq had large migrations of pure Arabs from the peninsula, who came to dominate.
Obviously we are not 100% pure Arab, that would be absurd assertion, but we are mostly Arab.
I'm from Baghdad.
Yousifovic June 2nd, 2011, 03:27 PM yes so that means some of us are originally Arabs , and the rest are the sons of the "great civilizations" ! and you can actually see from the faces, they are some iraqis which look like the statues of the Sumerians , Babylons and etc....
but the majority are real Iraqis ! i think the real Arabs are the ones in the Al Anbar and the desert of Samawah lol ..
and cool nice to meet u
Spin Cycle June 2nd, 2011, 04:12 PM I don't think comparing faces to artefacts is accurate enough to draw any conclusions. But We know that there were Arab migrations into Iraq. Whilst Iraqis are clearly very mixed in terms of their looks, this is probably more to do with more recent mixing than with relations to the people who were around 3,000-7,000 years ago. Eg, I'm white, my dad is brown, but my mum is white. That's all it takes for someone to have a completely different skin tone.
EDIT btw, I'm originally (born) from Baghdad but I live in the UK. Nice to meet you too.
Yousifovic June 2nd, 2011, 04:22 PM no iddnt mean get ur conclusions based on that, its just like an example, something ive noticed personally .. and about the looks, Iraqis have mixed looks (from Arabs, turks, Persians, Indians) as well as the original Iraqis or Mesopotamians. So if we follow your way of thinking then Egypt can have Pharaohs as their logos for their airlines, channels, companies, football FA, and other Egyptian institutions !
so my point is those Mesopotamian drawings and statues are symbols for Iraq ! cus they are the real Iraqis and they are our grandfathers !
Thats why you see them in our currency, logos, emblems ! so I honestly also think we should see them in our national coat of arms as well ! even Egypt has to change theirs to something that suits their great history ! (Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Palestine and Syria have the same ugly coat of arms ! )

On the contrary, I don't think modern Egyptians have much at all to do with the ancient ones. But it doesn't matter, if they want to think that they are the children of the ancients, it's not going to hurt them.

iraqishi3i June 2nd, 2011, 05:16 PM ahah awesome and my mum loves alforat lool xD i personally only watch aliraqiya for news but on a major report i decide to compare between each one but I dont like alsharqiya they are so antigoverment :/
sheytanElKebir June 2nd, 2011, 07:35 PM in a major gene study about 27% of Iraqis had the "arabic" genes, which is about the same % as the population of Central and Southern Italy. We have our own distinct "ethnic" group called "mesopotamian" which has some very surprising members including the first farmers in Germany (about 6000 years ago), as well as Margaret Thatcher (I believe!).
Personally, my maternal side of the family ARE real arabs (they have relatives in Saudi Arabia to this day that they know), but my paternal side of the family has absolutely 0% link to arabia.
iraqishi3i June 2nd, 2011, 07:50 PM so if you have NO relatives from saudi arabia or in the peninsula and no history of relatives from there and are fully Iraqi that makes you fully mesoptamian :D ?
Yousifovic June 2nd, 2011, 07:55 PM ^^ I hope im fully Mesopotamian !!!! :P
kurd123 June 2nd, 2011, 07:59 PM I believe I posted this before:-
This table basically shows that the indigenous people of Mesopotamia were first conquered by Europeans on the Kurdish side, and then Arabs on the Arab side. You can also find some European DNA in the Arabs and that's mostly likely from the Persians.

kurd123 June 2nd, 2011, 08:12 PM why are lebanon more "mesoptamian" than us their j2 is higher !
Mesopotamia is the place of origin, but it's not restricted to this region only, idiot (my revenge ;) )
iraqishi3i June 2nd, 2011, 08:13 PM yeah but surely us Iraqis would be more mesoptamian than lebanese people even if it isnt restricted ??
kurd123 June 2nd, 2011, 08:17 PM yeah but surely us Iraqis would be more mesoptamian than lebanese people even if it isnt restricted ??
It's possible that people migrated, and a lot of people seem to think that a couple Arabs came and then the native Mesopotamian just said OK we'll be Arabs now... now it does not work like that, the Arabs conquered the Mesopotamian and were the majority and hence you can see that Iraqi Arabs are 31% Arab/Jewish (J1).
I believe Georginan people have the most J2 at 70%+

Why should any flag of Iraq have a symbol of a minority who don't want to be a part of it? Why should it have a symbol representing them at all?
EDIT: btw, don't forget the outrageous disrespect they showed the Iraq flag when they refused to fly it over their territory (supposedly "part of Iraq").

This guy speaks the truth. They've been wanting to achieve full independence from Iraq for the last 20 years, they refuse to fly the Iraqi flag over any kurdish city, (which has no ba3thi stars on it so they have no excuse ) and they don't even consider themselves Iraqis. Why should we change our flag for them? And big dreamer, spin cycle is not trolling he's just stating a political point which is true btw.
Basrawii November 21st, 2011, 04:41 AM Can I add something.... I really hate to see yellow color on my flag... not because it is Kurdish or anything .... but I don't want us to have a very colorful flag with gay rainbow stuff or like African countries. i guess it represents banana in Africa.

I can't speak for everyone, but generally people believe that as long as our rights are respected we will be apart of Iraq, however its obvious that some people create stories in their heads and then use it to justify trying to take those rights away (read above)

Well, that clown is going to deprive you of all well respected oil companies working on your territories (including ExxonMobil) and leave you with loser DNO and Crescent Petroleum soon. Then, Barham will come crawling on his knees asking to put the Iraqi flag back on Khanqeen.
I can't speak for everyone, but generally people believe that as long as our rights are respected we will be apart of Iraq, however its obvious that some people create stories in their heads and then use it to justify trying to take those rights away (read above)
Which means the answer to your question Yousif is, Kurdistan is our home, country and dream. I totally support the right of self determination for the Kurdish ppl, why do we prison them in Iraq? Let them go free! Do we expect them to like our country? their politicians already don't! Trying to mess it up and live on the rewards of our sectarian divisions and problems. May be it is time to let them go! The question is do they want to go? (Ha KURD123? Do you? Ah! totally forgot about free 17% and other privileges).
They may have been Iranians, they like to come to Erbil... the horny Iranian men...
So w8, you mean there is prostitution there? Kurdish ppl are very tribal (as I know) they wouldn't really allow it. They will kill the women or throw them off a cliff.

Why the hell would we or any self respecting Iraq fly the same flag that was used by saddam? the issue here is not about using the Iraqi flag, it's what that particular flag stood for, which was pan-arab ideology.

Kaka I have been respecting sheytanelkabirs last words to me which were, and I quote:
"Ignore Basrawis rants and save yourself the hustle" he is just not worth my time, he makes up things in his head, I mean look at what he sais "Kurds are tribal" when slemani is known to be the most liberal and free city in the whole of Iraq, oh and the correct word is 'conservative' lol... he doesn't even know what tribal means I suppose.
Just ignore him, seriously, save some internet space.
