Hello guys, can you please suggest a few genuine Hong Kong dishes? If a visitor is curious about Hong Kong, what dishes should he try?

Stinky tofu isn't genuinely Hong Kong. Try dim sum and some of the food at hk style diners.

HK has very much everything, I can't think of anything that is truely unique in HK.

Some more:

大牌檔 Dai pai dong

Street food stalls

I think HK fast food, something like 大家樂 is pretty unique.

Pastries, something like Wife Cake老婆餅 or Pineapple Bun 菠蘿包

I don't know if 大牌檔 is unique, but its food is probably not unique, the environment is something worth experiece. I guess some has some very special dishes.

大家樂 is nothing special, imo.

Thank you for all the replies. I have put up a page on mycitycuisine.org about
Hong Kong cuisine and I have included the suggestions from this thread.
Please take a look:

http://www.mycitycuisine.org/wiki/Hong_Kong

By the way, does anyone have photos for any of these dishes?
As you can see, mycitycusine.org is a wiki project, so anyone can come and contribute.

You don't read Chinese, do you, there are many duplicated entry on your list.

Cha Siu Baau (叉烧包):& Steamed BBQ pork buns (叉燒飽) is the same thing. and 飽 is the wrong word for buns, a very common mistakes, many HK yum cha, websites got it wrong as well.

Also, I really hate this, some people don't mind, if you are going to keep a list of chinese words on a page, make it either traditional chinese or simplified chinese, don't mix it on the same page. The following site may help you
