Ill start with my self, currently living in Trondheim, but have lived most of my life (22 years) in Leksvik, a small village on Fosen! I worked with Emporis (http://www.emporis.com/) (a site that was actually good back then but not anymore) back in the days, and through it i got to know Skyscrapercity as it was launched in 2002. I finally registered in early 2003, 8 long years ago! Then in 2010 i was prompted to moderator, and since then i've been moderating all the sections on N&B.

When i am not on Skyscrapercity i work in the kindergarten, or i am off taking pictures, either of projects and the city to post on Skyscrapercity, or i am trekking/climbing the mountains! Enjoy travelling, volcanoes and all sorts of natural disasters as well.

Well then.. I'm 27. Been living in Drammen since 2002, including 2 years in South Africa for studies. Curently I'm working in one the most traditional stores in Drammen, but my training is in political science. Also former member of emporis.com and co-founder (together with Þróndeimr and a few more of the regulars here) of YIMBY Norge (www.yimby.no).

Other than that, I enjoy occasionally taking the piss out of Oslo in true Bergensk spirit, and turning every Skybar-thread into religion-threads :) Once I finish school, I'm hoping to move somewhere a bit more exciting.

I'm a 24 year old guy currently living at Steinkjer where I study business administration. I'm originally from a small village named Vinjeøra 10 km away from the county border between Sør-Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal, but did live at Halsa just across the border between 1994 and 2001.

I found this board Googling for Euro 2016-talk. I later found the N&B section when I saw the topic of HSR being built in Norway in the "last post" column.

To be honest, I'm not that interested in urban development. And skyscrapers to me tend to be a bit to much. Such things as Manhattan is to my way to much both in hight and number. I'm more interested in regional development. And my opinion is that you can't have development without decent infrastructure first. So infrastructure is a topic that take up a lot of my time.

When not attending school or doing school work, I use much of my time watching, reading and discussing about football. I'm active on several football boards and I'm pretty sure there's at least one user in here that recognize me from another board I'm active on. And I have suspicions about a few others as well. Anyone wanna reveal themselves?

Otherwise, even though I'm only 24 and currently living in Steinkjer, I own the quite big farm (in area) I grew up on back at Vinjeøra. And I got E 39 running through my property.

And even though I'm a big fan of road building, I'll probably become a NIMBY if ever they were to plan a new road through my property. :) Which they'll have to do.

Well, to present myself, I'm a 23 year old guy currently residing in Oslo inner east, but been living most of my life in the suburban paradises of Ås and Vestby. I've just finished my bachelors degree, and will start on a Masters degree this fall.

When I'm not bothering you all with cell-phone captured photo-updates, I work part time at a grocery store, or take long walks around the city.

I discovered this forum back in '06 on search for creativ SimCity 4 stuff.

I'm interested in urban development and architecture, both buildings and surroundings, especially in Oslo, and are fascinated by big cities and tall structures. Can't remember exactly how I ended up at ssc, but I'm pretty sure I was googling something and linked in here.

I'm 36 years old, a Trondheim boy born and bred. I've lived in various parts of the city all my life, except for a five year stint in Scotland, working for the old computer industry giant IBM. When my son was born, I found incentive to move back to Scandinavia and also a change of career. Nowadays I work in a kindergarten (just like you Þróndeimr) and whatever free time I have is spent on football support, gaming with my son and dreaming of a larger, more urban Trondheim. I'm quite fascinated with construction sites, architecture and urban development, which is why I'm here.

It is OK to just say something like "Hey, I live in ......, and I'm in this forum because ....". While I like to keep track of the biggest constructions and developments on the planet, I have mostly been active in the Oslo threads.

I guess I should probably introduce myself too, as I'm starting to post a bit more (hopefully).

I'm 22 years old from Lillehammer, but currently studying in Manchester, UK. Always been interested in cities, and have a real passion for developing beautiful places that are great for people to live, work and enjoy (a bit idealistic I know ;) ). Therefore I am more concerned with the city and urban structure as a whole, and spaces in between the buildings. Architecture is obviously a part of the bigger picture however, and also something which lies close to my heart. I just finished a BA in City and Regional Development, and commencing a Graduate Diploma in Landscape Design this year, with the aim of doing a Masters in Urban Design.

Been lurking on and off for a lot of years, with some random comments here and there, but hoping to get a bit more involved in the discussions, although I unfortunately can't contribute too much in terms of projects and so on!

Other interests are icehockey, football and music production/DJing, and (un)fortunately excessive partying!

Sup fellow UK student, I'm doing Town and Regional Planning in Sheffield.

Hello,

My name is Marcin. I was born in Poland, then I moved to Canada where I lived a few years and at this moment I'm doing my internship in Mexico. The reason why I decided to visit the Norwegian section of SC is because I am considering doing my masters degree in Scandinavia and I would like to know what it would be like and what kinds of things I could learn over there.

I am interested in an university which would offer a masters degree in urban planning in English (although I would love to learn Norwegian too). I am looking at Norway, Sweden and Denmark, but for some reason (can't really tell why) Norway is my first choice. So far I have found only one school which would meet my criteria - the NTNU in Trondheim with their 2-years Urban Ecological Planning. From what I have read on the website it sounds very interesting. However, I would love to get some subjective opinions from people like you. Perhaps someone here attended that university or knows someone who did? Maybe you know of other places in Norway where they offer good urban planning programs?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you think this is not a good place to have this conversation, please let me know where I could find out more.

Thanks

And this link is supposed to be for learning the language through emails: http://norwegianlanguage.info/norword/index.html

If you are planning on using the language, then you will probably be better of with bokmål/bokmal as that is consider the standard language most widely spoken. If you are just learning it for fun then it is probably equal and I don't think either languages is noticeable harder to learn for foreigners.

And just for the record: The differences aren't great by any means. Most people should be able to understand nynorsk even if they are only familiar with bokmål and vice versa. The differences are just some individual words and various endings to them.

Where are you from btw and what makes you want to learn our language? :)

Hello! Long-time lurker here.

I'm Erlend, 21 years old from Asker, currently living in Trondheim. I've always been interested in the art of engineering, skyscrapers and big buildings in particular. At some point I decided to pursue the dream and get a degree in building physics. Currently studying on the second year (out of five) of Civil Engineering at NTNU (Bygg- og Miljøteknikk for those of you who really care about details).

At the moment, I'm not really "allowed" to use this username, seeing as the title of Kyll. Ing. is reserved for graduated students (it's kind of a long story), but I plan to stay here at least until I graduate.

Can't remember how I originally found SSC, but it was probably sometime I was geeking around on the World Wide Webz. I've been an occasional lurker for some time. (Bestemte meg for å lage en brukerkonto nå i vinter etter at jeg møysommelig hadde lest gjennom og sett på alle bildene i mange "threads". Alt annet enn pensum er så utrolig interresant i eksamensperioden!)

Ganske kult å se to Norske prosjekter oppe på ArchDaily's, The 20 Most Visited Projects of All Time (http://www.archdaily.com/341368/archdaily-5-the-20-most-visited-projects-of-all-time/)

#2. Oslo Opera House
#12. Tverrfjellhytta

Skjønner ikke hvorfor så mange har sett på prosjektet som ligger på 1. plass. Det ser ikke så veldig spesielt ut spør du meg. :dunno: Jeg hadde egentlig forventet at førsteplassen tilhørte Turning Torso, the Shard eller lignende kjente bygg ...

Probably because there's not much going on in Svalbard... But I guess a thread wouldn't hurt to at least map how it looks there already

Svalbard is a fantastic place. I highly recommend it to those who are into alternative tourism.

As long as the tourists don't get eaten by polar bears. That's such bad publicity.

Polar bears stay out of Longyearbyen and other tourist areas...^^

Off course, but when tourist go out camping by themselves in the wild, things can happen. Polarbears have quite the sense of smell, and get easily attracted to camps.

That's why you need riffles out there!

^^That sounds like a long walk. ("gå" på norsk betyr ikke "go" på engelsk;))
