Braup!!! :righton: KGB October 2nd, 2004, 06:38 AM Parkdale Which was an actual separate municipality...as opposed to a former borough. KGB Istrian October 2nd, 2004, 03:07 PM Oops...from High park to Yonge @ queens quay, allways Terrono !!! BlackFlag October 2nd, 2004, 05:57 PM North York. indian October 2nd, 2004, 05:59 PM North York. Same here. Byron October 2nd, 2004, 06:02 PM Scarborough *ducks head from gunfire* ;) schmidt October 2nd, 2004, 06:33 PM Hm so now all these municipalities are just one city (Toronto)? My house in Toronto was some blocks north of Lawrence and Avenue Road. Is that North York or what? (Because I read some 'NY' signs there) DanfromTO October 2nd, 2004, 08:07 PM From the west side of the origional city of Toronto(allen expressway) and yes they are all part of toronto now simadon October 2nd, 2004, 08:14 PM East York, but Toronto is literally right accross the street. simadon October 2nd, 2004, 08:16 PM Can we rank the cities? Toronto East York York Etobicoke North York Scarborough Buster October 2nd, 2004, 11:07 PM Parkdale Which was an actual separate municipality...as opposed to a former borough. KGB Same here. Represent. salvius October 3rd, 2004, 01:43 AM Toronto in the past, present, and future. Homer J. Simpson October 3rd, 2004, 02:15 AM York at present but looking forward to a future in or near Parkdale, High Park or perhaps the Danforth. scarbmike October 3rd, 2004, 02:22 AM Scarborough....I'm sure no one guessed it...LOL SpatulaCity October 3rd, 2004, 03:10 AM I've lived in all except Etobicoke (which seems like another world to me) but mostly North York. Speaking of feeling like another world... I've always been fascinated with the east-west divide in this city. They both feel so different to me. salvius October 3rd, 2004, 03:14 AM I've lived in all except Etobicoke (which seems like another world to me) but mostly North York. Speaking of feeling like another world... I've always been fascinated with the east-west divide in this city. They both feel so different to me. East-West is pretty big, but not quite as big as South-North the way I see it. But, frankly, every part of Toronto feels like another world compared to the other parts. Yet, it works. Filip October 3rd, 2004, 03:18 AM I'm the only one from Etobicoke?:D Strange indeed.... Buster October 3rd, 2004, 02:34 PM York at present but looking forward to a future in or near Parkdale, High Park or perhaps the Danforth. P-DALE. We need more urbanists to offset the yuppie baby stroller crowd. salvius October 3rd, 2004, 08:15 PM P-DALE. We need more urbanists to offset the yuppie baby stroller crowd. Yuppies with baby strollers can be urbanists. KGB October 3rd, 2004, 08:26 PM Well, as a Parkdale resident, I don't see any danger of the place turning into another Beaches anytime soon....perhaps never. KGB Homer J. Simpson October 3rd, 2004, 10:57 PM P-DALE. We need more urbanists to offset the yuppie baby stroller crowd. I'm not entirely sure if I would qualify as an urbanist. I will never live a suburban or rural lifestyle. But I will never live in a highrise or any building that has elevators agian. For me it would have to be a house or townhouse or maybe a loft (even if it ment elevators). I don't know if this stance kind of negates the possibility of me being an "urbanist". I like the idea of moving to Parkdale but convincing my family is a different thing. To convince the family to move, we would need to find a house, townhome or loft that has three bedrooms and is roughly 1,500 sq ft that does not need a lot of renos and is equal to or under $350,000. Actually, my mothers father grew up near Rocesvalles many decades ago. SpatulaCity October 4th, 2004, 03:18 AM Roncisval that's a new one valantino October 4th, 2004, 05:44 AM Toronto and East York Buster October 5th, 2004, 08:39 PM Well, as a Parkdale resident, I don't see any danger of the place turning into another Beaches anytime soon....perhaps never. KGB True, but a lot of artists have been pushed out. Diversity of incomes and ethnicities is key to maintaining a vibrant parkdale-roncy neighbourhood. @ Salvius -yuppies can definately be urbanists but I find artists and musicians a lot more interesting. @ Homer -Good luck with the move. Parkdale's relatively cheaper (per square foot) than many other Toronto neighbourhoods. The problem's this: many parkdale homes huge and conversely expensive. More investors will snap 'em up than individual families. doogerz October 11th, 2004, 07:58 PM Scarborough, I'm so ashamed! :P KGB October 12th, 2004, 03:37 AM "but a lot of artists have been pushed out. " Well, I'd say a lot more have moved in. "Diversity of incomes and ethnicities is key to maintaining a vibrant parkdale-roncy neighbourhood." Couldn't agree more....so what do you have against people and stores moving in that cater to a bit more middle-higher income resident? I mean...do you want Parkdale to remain made up of 98% poor immigrants, poor white trash, homeless, hookers, druggies and former mental patients? forever??? Is this your idea of "diversity"? Maybe you should take a closer look at the demographics of Parkdale....excactly what it needs is a tiny bit more sophistication into the mix...it's so fuking far lopsided even now, it isn't funny. You think it's too gentrified already?????????????????????????????????? Given the size of Parkdale, and it's base demographic, I doubt it's even possible to turn it into some kind of Yorkville or Beach or some similar nabe. What it should strive for is something more along the lines of St Lawrence. KGB salvius October 12th, 2004, 03:45 AM ^ Nay, Parkdale needs to be more gentrified. It's still considered 'the bad part of town' although I seriously don't see it as such at all. A little bit of a cleanup is all it needs. KGB October 12th, 2004, 03:52 AM And what do you really know about Parkdale?? KGB salvius October 12th, 2004, 04:00 AM ^ Enough to know that it needs more work. chant_88 October 12th, 2004, 04:06 AM neither, even though it may say i live in Toronto. I actually live in Markham... Close enough. KGB October 12th, 2004, 04:13 PM "Enough to know that it needs more work." I take that to mean jack shit...as I expected. What does "need more work" mean? It means you are so knowledgable, you can't be specific. LOL!! I'll let you in on a little secret.....EVERYTHING is a work in process. KGB TORONTOCOPENHAGEN October 12th, 2004, 04:22 PM Can we have some pictures of the different municipalities????? |
