Willoughby Council has been recognised as one of the world's most livable areas, making the finals of the international award.
The Livable Communities Award recognises councils from around the globe who have outstanding management in heritage management, environmental practices, landscape enhancement, community involvement and future planning.
Willoughby's impressive entry has positioned it in the top 10 councils with populations of 75,001 to 200,000 residents from 60 entries.
Five councils from Australia, including Randwick, also mande the final cut.
They will be competing against Gateshead in England, Plzen in Czech Republic, RheinHunstruck-Kreis in Germany, Sialiai in Lithuania and Waterloo in Canada.
Note: Chatswood and surrounding district including St Leonards is part of Willoughby Council.
