Alvin March 1st, 2007, 10:02 PM A while ago, there was a new office project listed in some property reports called "Merdeka Tower", this appears to be the design proposals. I think the project is on-hold for now...hopefully it will get built soon.

MARINHO September 10th, 2007, 11:51 PM Judging on the pics posted by Alvin. The unidentified building on the artist impression is the Sapta Pesona building. The project will probably be constructed next to the Sapta Pesona (Departemen Budpar) building.
By using Google Earth/Google Maps an abandoned construction is visible behind the Sapta Pesona building.
This abandoned construction, halted when the economic crisis struck, is I believe the original Menara Merdeka.
Menara Indosat Option 2 is probably a redesign of the original Menara Merdeka. Pending on the reliability of the never finished Menara Merdeka the halted construction will probably be used if the Menara Indosat Option 2 will be constructed.

In case the Menara Merdeka/Menara Indosat Option 1 will be constructed. The now standing Indosat Tower will be demolished or the facade will be cut away and will be changed drastically. The never finished Menara Merdeka next to the Sapta Pesona Building will have to be demolished too as it's design is totally different from the Menara Indosat Option 1.

Menara Merdeka secara kepemilikan milik pemerintah (dibawah Kemenbudpar)
Tapi denger2, gedung ini akan diisi oleh perusahaan-perusahaan swasta/BUMN dengan sistem sewa
...
Nama Merdeka merujuk kepada jalan lokasi : Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat...
