The Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant has just kicked off the 2011 competition.
This year, there are 34 contestants representing states across the Federal Republic of Nigeria. One of these girls will follow in the footsteps of previous MBGN winners including Munachi Abii, Adaeze Igwe, Nike Oshinowo, Lynda Chuba-Ikpeazu, Regina Askia, Matilda Kerry and many other successful MBGN crown holders.

BN will be partnering with the MBGN organization this year and now you can vote for your MBGN 2011-BellaNaija Miss Photogenic.
You can now vote for your favourite contestant to win MBGN 2011. Send the contestant’s code (e.g. V40 ) to 33555 for MTN, Etisalat and Starcomms; 33550-GLO; and 33044-Airtel. Contestant codes are from V1 to V34.

Of course, there are Igbos everywhere in Nigeria.

What I wonder is why a states like Adamawa and Taraba are in the so called ''North'', even though Taraba state looking at a Nigerian map is obviously South Eastern. Is it because they arent Igbo???

adamwa was founded by fulani, whether it is not really part of the north geographically it is something else but historically it has always been part of the north, it isa state which is held in high esteem especially in fulani history, sheikh modibo adama is buried in yola also

How is it immodest? Especially in Nigeria of all places? They tend to be pretty covered in my opinion and in the case of the swimsuit portion they can wear attire less revealing?

Some of the girls are very pretty but the organizers took crap photos, even a beauty queen can look like crap with crap lighting and horrible posses. Most of these girls are not models so they should have gave them some direction, beyond pouting like a fish.

Dan Katsina I said that because Nigeria is still a conservative and over religious society, its not like Christians in Nigeria are more tolarant for nudity and etc.

And like Heratio said if Northern Girls competed more the organizers could find a way to accomadate religious sensibilities, since they don't then no one bothers to do so. If the people who received Islam long before Nigeria did can be more flexible with regards to events like these is about time you guys did too.

It does make you wonder, how even in South Western states Igbo women are candidates:? Naija Born what's going on? MBGN should include all groups

Like I said before I'm routing for the first girl ( love her eyes, if it's not contacts), the enugu girl(because she reminds me of a friend), and of course Adamwama(spelled that wrong, don't feel like correcting it), Bayelsa and Akwa-Ibom chicks(because they are pretty). The rest well Good luck to them. River state girl, I like her too..I'm getting a regina askia vibe from her and Gbemsiola is also a pretty girl. The Bauchi girl scares the living daylight out of me. MBGN in video. This video shows you how terrible nigerian photographers are. Anyway, some looked better in real life than picture (i.e: Anambra, etc) and some looked better in pictures (I.e: Bayelsa).
I'm changing my vote, the only two that seem to have the ability to compete in world and win is definitely delta state girl and Katsina state girl. Anambra (sigh. I wanna support my state so much but the girl is cute, she looks a hot mess in pictures but in real life she's cute but just ordinary cute, not world cute)
LMFAO @ the begging. Almost every girl begged and pleaded for vote, only one girl was interesting the rest chei

Anambra is pretty and looks better than in the first photo which a lot of people said didn't do her justice, some look better, Bauchi :shifty: kept steady. The first photos were taken poorly, that even girls that were not exactly stunning but still pretty came out looking like shrek.

But MBGN needs to be re-overhauled again because fact that over 90% of these girls are Igbo leads me to believe that they are not from the state they claimed to be or the judges are biased. It should be local, state, and then the main competition opposed to screening, because some of the girls if I had been a local judge would have been sent back to their towns. Nigeria is not devoid of pretty women !ut shody work has kept the country from producing the best of the best.

The MBGN photographers and makeup artist are the WORST photographers and makeup artist I’ve ever seen in my life. Actually these girls have a better chance of taking better pictures of themselves than them. For example: The girl that won MBGN 2010; I used to think she was ugly based on all the pictures MBGN posted of her, if it wasn't the videos in YouTube i would have never guessed the girl was pretty. The same year (2010), one of the contestants was a friend of mine when i was primary school. Her photo in MBGN was terrible; in her Facebook account that girl has taken better pictures of herself than MBGN. She's a pretty girl and they did not do her justice with the pictures they posted of her. Another example, the girl rumored to be Geneviève nnaji's daughter few weeks ago based on a leaked pic of her and gene together. You remember how pretty that girl was? Guess what? she was a contestant last year and the pictures MBGN posted of her as a contestant was terrible. Don't even get me started on Agbani Darego pictures when she won or Munachi's picture, etc. Honestly they should fire whoever is the photographer and makeup artist in that show imo. Heck, the nwando chick her family posted a better picture for their daughter
http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy25/Multibrown/Nwando.jpg
http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy25/Multibrown/Nwando3.jpg
http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy25/Multibrown/Nwando2.jpg
She looks better here than pictures MBGN provided.

But MBGN needs to be re-overhauled again because fact that over 90% of these girls are Igbo leads me to believe that they are not from the state they claimed to be or the judges are biased. Based on the good, the bad and the ugly video these was the best out of the bunch sadly. I think the prettiest girl in Nigeria from whatever state, tribe, etc. have better things to worry about. I remember telling my cousin to run for MBGN once because last time i was in Nigeria she looks like a model imo. I freaking love her skin tone and features; anyway I remember her answer was No, It's a worthless show and event. Most of the girls that apply for MBGN aren’t doing it because they think they are the most beautiful thing in 9ja. I think they do it based on the history of MBGN winners and contestants (I:e: Marrying footballers, being famous, being a model, etc). It's basically the same reason most of the koko mansion girls did that stupid, idiotic show.

As for the 90% of girls being Igbo. As I mentioned before, one of the contestants for MBGN 2010 was a girl i went to primary school with when I used to live in that country. I still keep in touch with her through Facebook. Anyway, I actually asked her about this last time. I was wondering if there more Igbo girls in the screening than other tribe girls hence the reason Igbo girls are always the ones running for MBGN. I always wondered about that for a long time and many believe that's the reason but according to her, there were a lot of non-Igbos especially girls that can represent their own state during the screening stage but for some reason, it’s always Igbos they pick for the show. The girl that's running for Taraba right now is from Anambra and I bet you there were a lot of girls from taraba that applied for that show. The winner last year represented Bayelsa but originally she's from Anambra too; after she won she kicked Bayelsa to the curb and kept on saying I’m anambra in all her interviews. Personally, I think they should try better. Even if they didn't think the girl from the actually state is a good rep they should at least use them rather pick another girl from another state to represent that state. It's disrespectful imo. MBGN might shut down soon because they are starting to do the same thing that made Miss.Nigeria shut down.

Almost every girl begged and pleaded for vote, only one girl was interesting the rest chei
 the first girl has a lazy eye, she couldn't find the camera.
