lol here to the rescue.

Seven are revamping their thursdays as playing it straight and trading spouses are big flops. Here's the new lineup for the 14th and 21st.

Thurs 14 October
7.30 My Wife And Kids (unchanged)
8.00 The Simple Life 2 (unchanged)
8.30 The Amazing Race (90 minute season premiere)
10.00 Stargate (new timeslot)
11.00 Stargate (Season Finale)

Then from Thursday 21 October
7.30 My Wife & Kids
8.00 The Simple Life 2
8.30 The Amazing Race
9.30 Stargate
10.30 Line Of Fire (series premiere)
11.30 Playing It Staright (new timeslot)

I hope ithis double emmy winner does well against kath and kim and remains in the timeslot, seems seven are trying to promote this show for once as it went really well for CBS. Season 6 is going to be the first season to play in the Fall since season 3 and will premere late october/early november.

I'm so happy it's going to be in a good timeslot. I remember Channel seven promoted one season of the Amazing Race, except it was on a saturday I think and it didn't do all that well.

But I'm also happy it'll be paired up with my favourite show.....STARGATE!

I saw it as well. Dubai looked great. It was very kind that the hotel allowed them to be used on the program. It was also shocking that Charla and Mirna got eliminated in Tanzania. They were regularly towards the front of the pack and I was impressed with their cleverness.

Also this is the first series I've watched of the program and I think it's one of the most exciting and thrilling reality TV shows out there. I like the unpredictable nature of the program which also adds to it.

Dubai looked amazing, as did Buenos Aires and the southern part of Argentina a couple of weeks back. The race is great, i love the places they visit and the tasks that they have to complete (though not as funny as in the last race). It is disappointing that racers can be at the mercy of ruthless taxi drivers or people intent on ripping them off (but i suppose that is part of the race). Those nasty guys on the bus in Tanzania seemed shady and it was good to seem them get out of their in one piece.

One thing i hope happens in future races. It would be great to see an International version of the Amazing Race with teams from a few countries competing for glory rather than just teams from the US...

Well, looks like we're very slow with getting the Amazing Race over here, the 6th series is already being shown in America. We're still watching the 5th series I think. Unfortunately now I know who did win, even b4 Perth4life said so. :(

(P.S Perth4life, I'd advise removing the name of the winner asap to prevent anyone else who doesn't want to know yet from knowing)

Yeah, he was lucky but I feel that he did have the right to contest the fare as the driver failed to deliver on his promise of getting them there second!!!!. The way he handled the matter though was silly. If he was calm, maybe he could of got a compromise. The drivers (including the bus drivers) I thought were very arrogrant in trying to milk each of the couples money.

The race ended in Dallas last night with Chips & Kim winning the million. They were in last place during the visit to Calgary when the other two couples - Colin & Christe along Brandon & Nicole ended up leaving the city later than originally planned as their American Airlines flight was delayed by two hours & could not secure seats on another carrier . Chips & Kim were able to grab another flight (United Airlines) that put them two hours ahead of the others and were made aware of the delay. That two hour lead ensured they won the million. Congrulations to them.

Runners up were Colin & Christe - Well done to them
& third place - Brandon & Nicole

I hope they do series 6 when the ratings season starts in Feburary.

chip and kim were VERY LUCKy, maybe they got the "karma" that they always thought they deserved, well done.
the best players were undoubtably Colin and Christie but just had bad luck.

Dallas skyline looks awesome from that park but the inner city looked pretty tragic to me.

i think they drove through spain to go to Algeciras to catch a ferry to morrocco in season 3.

i read the thing about finishing in the US and in diffrent cities to avoid spoilers from a website interview with co-creator Elise Doganeri. her husband Bertram van Munster (Executive Producer) came home one day and challenged her to come up with a TV show concept and she came up with what is now 'The Amazing Race'.

Loving the new series so far!!! Pissed myself laughing last week watching them try to "rollerskate" (I thought it was road skiing) down the hill. The wrestlers might kill eachother by the end of it and I think the entrepeneur's are heading for a divorce. That Hellboy is a real sook.

One thing that I find a little more prevelant this episode is how much they all fight with eachother, but it seems to be a much closer race this time, they always seem to be driving in convoy.

The dumb girls who cant drive a stick shift have gone thank god, they just seemed a little too much like quitters. I am so far most impressed with the father/daughter team who went from last place to 3rd without cheating, driving like they have a deathwish or being the most athletically capable group. And credit must be given to the old couple when they climbed that ice wall!

How was the hippies' effort in consuming a (big) bowl of grasshoppers and crickets each? They each threw up at least twice! :puke: They deserved to win just for that!

From that we can deduce that they weren't vegetarians...

Coincidence?

A last-to-first listing of the foreign (non-USA) countries that the teams visited reveals: 3. Australia, 1. Japan.

World Cup result: Australia 3, Japan 1.

Anyone see lasts nights episode set in Auckland - showcased the skyline really well. One team had to climb up the antenna of the Sky Tower, and the other teams had to scan the skyline with binoculars for gnomes hidden on rooftops and balconies of skyscrapers all over the city - then go up there and collect them. Then another task set on top of Mount Eden, with stunning views of the skyline. Great stuff. Although the blond chicks were eliminated :(

Bump. Anyone still watch The Amazing Race? Its a credit to the format of this show that it is now into its 14th season but it reamains virtually unchanged. Not like the other boring reality competitions which have to rely on sensationalist twists that will "change the game forever" every five mintues in a desperate attempt to con the viewers into sticking around.

Anyway, its on like donkey kong once again. First episode last night was pretty good, particularly the cheese rolling, made even better but the Swiss dudes laughing their arses off on the sidelines  And good to see Preston and Jennifer eliminated, they spent the whole episode bitching and abusing each other.

Tuned in the other day to watch the latet series.

Gotta agree with the cheese rolling scenes which were great, though i wondered why none of the teams bothered rolling the cheese down the hill if they were eventually allowed to get away with such anyways.

The teams are mostly 'interesting' as well, and you've gotta admire the communication between the mother and son so far.

Watched the Amazing Race the other night... absolutely sums up everything that is wrong with American television (and culture) at present...

With the exception of mother & deaf son, its just a parade of culturaly ignorant, self centred celberity seekers. God knows what the taxi drivers thought when some contestants said "its really important, we're in a race" when they were trying to get to the dam.... (a) no effort to speak the local language at all, and (b) getting somebody to a hospital is important, hurrying someone along because you're running late is just rude.

Still, compulsive viewing, will no doubt be tuning in next week.

^^ I get what you are saying but think you are being a little unfair.

Honestly do you think we Aussies would fare much better? You seen many Australians being 'cultural sensitive' or speaking the lingo while on hols in Bali? And thats while doing normal boring everyday holiday stuff like buying weed or a can of coke. Unlike A.R contestants who rush across a god ugly stinking city with wierd foreigners in the way while severely jetlagged with b.o, needing to take a dump REAL soon alongside a partner who you used to like but now looks ugly and is pissing you off all the time thinking Phils gonna send you home tonight.

Sure the producers could only pick only culturally aware Americans who speak fluent Russian, Greek, Pashtun and Xhosi but that wont make for great tv.

I do like it but whenever they go to Brazil and the contestants use their Spanish on the locals: "Si senor, muy rapido!" Trying to be polite but missing the mark greatly.

Definately compulsary viewing. Although I dont get to worried if I miss an episode nowadays. Im like "Where are they now, Mongolia? I'll give this weeks episode a miss."

Also how did Phil end up with a Boston accent?

Channel Seven have now gone straight onto screening Amazing Race 15 which is good cause we're only two episodes behind the US. And this season might be of particular interest to us because a) it has a contestant with aspergers and b) has a couple of legs in Dubai, including something involving the Burj Dubai! Should be good.

It's because they're speaking the wrong language.
They're similar, but still different (Yes they speak Portuguese in Brazil)

I love it how when they go to countries where they use a cryllic alphabet and the Americans are trying to read it, for example they read 'Москва' as "Mockba" when it's actually pronounced as "Moskva"

That is awesome news!! I wont audition, but can't wait to watch. Good on Seven for making the committment but I hope its going to be a fully fledged race around the globe, not just a half arsed version on the cheap. And exciting to hear that Phil Keoghan is possibly hosting, but Grant Denyer and Daniel Macpherson have also been linked to the show. Denyer could be alright but I couldn't stand Macpherson. Did the US Amazing Race make it to Brisbane back in November? Around that time I was at South Bank having lunch and a couple of girls with a camera crew pulled up on Little Stanley St at South Bank in a Wiked Camper. The girls jumped out of the car and ran into South Bank being followed by the camera crew. They then ran back, jumped in the van, did a very quick car leaving scene for the camera crew, who then jumped back in and they were off again (just barely in time for camera crew to make it back into the van). I'm pretty certain it looked like an Amazing Race style event -> of course there are numerous versions of the show across the globe these days.

Its funny with the Oz accent on this show, i know ill get used to it but im so used to the contestants saying things like ''Dangit'' and being all gang-ho American.
The $250,000 prize money is ok but it aint no million.
My favourit team are the Muslim brothers, not just because they are from Melb but they seem like genuinely nice guys.
Though how long they last is anouther thing, comming last on the 1st leg and it being a non-elimination and having to come 1st in the next pit-stop or incur a 30 minute penalty doesn't gell well for this team.

This was my only real criticism (which could hardly be levelled at Channel 7). And when that dickhead was wailing "please, my children need food!!" in the Indonesian marketplace I thought that was in really poor taste on his part.

Otherwise it wasn't that bad. The product placement was entirely predictable... no Australian network would shell out this much for a show of this style without having relentless product placement.

^^ they pay tax in the US so they end up with virtually the same prize money.

"While taxes vary by state and how on winnings are invested, a rough rule of thumb is that a winner who takes a lump sum can reasonably expect to pocket 1/3 of the jackpot amount after the initial tax withholding and additional taxes at the end of the tax year. Therefore, a winner of a $100,000,000 jackpot who takes a lump sum can roughly expect to have $33,000,000 after filing income tax documents for the year in which the jackpot was won."

Let's hope they get kicked off as a result of their broken 4WD - hinted at in the trailer for next week's ep? The rest of the teams seem like nice people.

Guess the Big W ladies didn't have their hearts in it (in spite of being tired out), as they had 4 hrs to work out the right combination of lanterns. A shame that they're out.

Yea, there was more than enough time for those Big W ladies to work it out even if they had gone for a quick dinner break or something at a nearby mall for about an hour or so before finishing off the puzzle.

Perhaps they misunderstood or forgot the rules, ie. they didn't know that Mo and Mos had the 4 hour penalty.

Are they the pricks with "ask believe receive" or some shit written on their shirts?

I've never been more certain that someone was on a reality show to kick start their shitty home business than I have been of those two.

Yeah, they had crush it on their shirts last night. Fucken annoying twits. :bash:

Mo and Mos race in slow-mo
Karl Quinn
June 1, 2011

Melbourne mates Mo and Mos might not win the Amazing Race but they are winning fans.

COULD Mo and Mos be the least likely reality TV stars ever? Chubby, slow and still in the show only by the skin of their collective teeth, Mohammed El-leissy (Mo) and Mostafa Haroun (Mos) are the Muslim mates from Melbourne who have entrenched themselves (alongside the now-departed Big W ladies) as firm fan favourites on The Amazing Race Australia, Seven's local adaptation of the long-running US series.

Three episodes in and they have already come so close to elimination so many times that no one gives them much chance of winning the series, but there's no denying they've won viewers over. And that, says Mo, is victory enough.

''Up until now the media's engagement with Muslims has been a little tokenistic,'' says the 26-year-old social worker from Brunswick. ''They try to do good stories, but it's all, 'Oh look, it's the hijab in football colours.' They've been trying to push a really positive message, which is great, but for us on the receiving end, it's a bit like, 'Oh look, they're human.' ''
Advertisement: Story continues below

The Amazing Race is different, he says, despite the fact early publicity played up the challenges of the boys, both practising Muslims, having to stop to pray five times a day. ''With us, they've put our humanity before our faith,'' he says. ''We've reached a new audience on Channel Seven that never get to see a positive story about Muslims.''

Not that they're keen to see themselves as role models. ''If I was ever to be a role model, it would be for 'eat more food','' jokes Mos, who works part-time in the gift shop at Melbourne Zoo.

''We'd be role models for obesity,'' chips in Mo. '' 'Eat more doughnuts - but make sure they're halal'.''

The boys have developed a fine line in self-deprecating humour and have vague ambitions to spin that into a media career. They've been working on a demo of a radio show that they hope to shop around and have been working up short videos for YouTube in which they share their insights into just-aired episodes of the series (details of coming episodes are, of course, strictly off limits under the terms of their confidentiality agreements with Seven).

It's not that either of them is desperate for a showbiz career, just that they're up for whatever comes next. After all, that's what took them to the show in the first place.

Mos had just started a new job when he got a call at 2am from his mate Mo asking if he'd do a video audition; Mo had made it to the last stage of auditions but the mate he'd got there with had bailed at the last minute.

''To be honest, he was about the eighth person I called,'' says Mo.

Undeterred, Mos jumped at the chance and filed his audition an hour later. The next morning, he was at the production office for an in-the-flesh audition. A week later, he and Mo were off and running. Well, make that off and walking a little bit faster than usual. ''We don't run anywhere,'' says Mos. ''I went to the gym … once,'' says Mo.

In fact, Mos has a master's in sports business, but has never had the opportunity to put it into practice in the workplace. How come?

''No one seems to like my name when I apply,'' he says, suggesting that while the reality TV world has embraced him and his faith, the real world remains a little more of a challenge. ''I can't get my foot in the door, get that interview, even though I am qualified. And when I do get interviews, people are surprised I speak with an Australian accent.''

''It's very Anglo,'' says Mo of the world of sport. ''Matey.''

''I can be matey,'' says Mos. ''I can go to the pub and drink water.''

Right now, there's a fair chunk of Australia that'd be willing to shout him a glass, too.

The Amazing Race Australia is on Seven on Monday at 8.30pm.

I like TAR and have watched many editions. This is what I think, so far, about TAR - Australia in comparison to TAR (US):

- the financial prizes for winners of each leg are quite more relevant if compared to the average leg prize on US edition (a trip to some 3* resort in or not far from US). If they keep the pace, there will be more $$ for grabs on leg prizes than the final prize itself

- they selected some teams (the clerk ladies and the Muslim brothers) who are just not fit for racing. While US edition had older couples, and some not-so-fit folks, these 2 pairs are way off standard. I also didn't like either the PR-show of "look, we are Muslims and proud of it" TAR showed in the first episode neither the goofy background music showing them in action or lack thereof.

- the Australian cowboys are sub-par compared to the American cowboys (Jeff and Cod)

- apparently, a same very annoying repetitive take is repeated over and over in both editions (US and Australia): pointless takes of teams urging their drivers to pass other taxis carrying other team. Seriously, I can't stand the 523th identical scene of someone yelling "hurry, hurry, it's a race".

The farmers are okay. The guy with the black hat is a real dope though. But they were nice enough to not U turn anybody whilst in the lead.

Next week looks like they'll be in Cape Town. I didn't think a trip to South Africa would be complete without going there.

They apparently seem to have been taken from The Amazing Race: Asia. I've never seen an episode of TARA, but TARA doesn't seem to venture beyond eastern Europe, so maybe they'll switch up to some previous US challenges, or devise new ones.

pointless takes of teams urging their drivers to pass other taxis carrying other team. Seriously, I can't stand the 523th identical scene of someone yelling "hurry, hurry, it's a race".

But that's inherent to the format. It doesn't matter who devices the challenges, any driving or taxiing will elicit the same sort of reactions.

Suburbanist
June 8th, 2011, 03:23 AM
^^ It would be interesting to see them venturing in Canada and US for some challenges on the mid of the competition, as in TAR (US) they are on North America only for the 1st or last lag of the race.

I guess the reason by which TAR Asia didn't get beyond Europe has to do with extreme difficult to get visas to UK and US for certain nationalities.

Assuming we could bet on the winner through TAB, the odds after this week would be something like:

Nathan & Tyler: $1.60
The Cowboys: $1.90
Dad & Son: $2.10
Hot Blondes: $6.50
Chris & Anastasia: $10.35
Old Bikies: $25.00
The Sisters: $65.00

Chris having another dummy spit: $1.01:lol:

Yeah they seem to be the best team. I think i'd prefer them to win it.

My impressions so far:

The father and son need to quit with the sentimental crap, what a couple of soft cocks.
The cowboys are try hard texans and their hats suck. Somebody get them a speech therapist?
Seems like the Greek(?) dude has some anger problems. His girl is ok.
The bogan dude is irritating for too many reasons and his wife is a bit of a space cadet.
Shame about the muslim guys. They seemed ok, just physically not up to scratch.
The blondes are bitchy… strong team though. They were unlucky on the last two shows imo.
The sisters are just are idiots, especially the ranga one. No surprise they lost really.

It's amusing… i think i prefer the American version though. I'd like to see an amazing race or survivor with international competitors (who can speak english).
