View Full Version : Summer Drinks!

So it's sunny out, and no doubt many of us have taken to the patios and mixing those fun drinks or summery beers. So what's your summer drink?

I'm pretty boring, but don't fix what's not broken. Beers would be anything white or light. Hoegaarden and Organic are great. As is Lemon Tea beer.

Mixed drinks are ameretto, rum or mojitos. I keep it simple.

I don't drink much anymore, but I do enjoy a rye and coke once in awhile. Not a big beer drinker... On a nice warm day a mojito would be nice

Sangrias are pretty good too!

I'm fond of a frosty beer on a hot day. I don't know why Bud only has their lime flavour in Bud Lite. :dunno:
I refuse to drink "Lite" beer. It is a waste of energy. If you don't want a buzz, why drink beer in the first place?

Rickards Red on tap sitting on a patio.
Bottled RR, Sleeman's or Stella while on the BBQ at home.
A smooth glass of Johnnie Walker red after dinner.

It's looking like I'm doing a liquor store run before dinner tonight.

Gin + Tonic + Ice + LEMON(not a dreadful lime)

Gin and tonic with a slice of lime, sir? Leave it out! And I really do mean, leave it out. Of all the proliferating evidence that the world has gone to the demnition bow-wows, the most incontrovertible is the pervasive practice of poisoning gin and tonic with slices of lime. Ugh. Is nothing sacred? A proper gin and tonic is served with a slice of LEMON.

Fab article on lemon v lime - http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/geraldwarner/4354331/Only_lemon_properly_complements_a_gin_and_tonic/

Overground, did you rent the new Coronation Street dvd that is a movie about
Tony Warren coming up with the idea for the show? I loved it so much I watched it twice, and really liked it better than The King's Speech that I had rented the night before!

That is one classic article! haha. I do usually only use lemons but the odd time I'll combine with a lime too so you get a citrus explosion!

YES! The Road to CS. Absolutely BRILLIANT. You won't believe the actors they found to play Pat Phoenix and Ena Sharples. And one of my favourite actresses (Celia Imrie) plays Doris Speed. Celia Imrie also played Miss Babs on the fantastic Acorn Antiques spoof years ago. And she played the appalling Mrs Selma Quickly on Nanny McPhee.

^That looks delicious. I haven't had one of those since I was at the Hard Rock in Tokyo in the early 90s. This rather flirtatious Japanese girl with a very pronounced lazy eye was looking at me(or a person 10ft the other way, bless her) in the mirror and I said, "What ya drinking?", she responded "Sexu Onza Beachu". Classic story for which I'll leave for another day.

Woah....I need to watch this. I'm in the process of moving but once I do I'll be downloading this. I got confused at first with James Roache playing his real dad William Roache's character, which of course is Ken Barlow in the movie. But in the tv show he also played Ken Barlow's grandson James. I think I got it, haha.

In my opinion it is the best of any of the CS "Specials", ever. The Romanian Holiday and the South African Holiday one were okay in parts, but lame overall. This new one is extremely professionally done, and written by Darran Little, who used to be the archivist and a writer for CS. He visited here for the British Show about ten years ago, and is quite dishy in real life. :naughty:

The only slightly lame actor is the one portraying the Canadian tv producer. I keep thinking he is John Candy, back in SCTV days.

Sex on the Beach is great, very refreshing. A Long Island Ice Tea hits the spot too though. Those are all drinks I tend to only get my girlfriend to order and then drink most of them haha!

Looking/Up, that looks amazing! I'm also partial to Ameretto Sours, that's my club drink though.

Soju Bombs

1 Shot Cola
1 Shot Soju
about a pint of beer

Pour cola into a shot glass, filling it about 3/4 full; place shot glass with cola upright in the bottom of a beer mug, spilling as little as possible.
Pour soju into shot glass, and place over the cola-filled shot glass
Fill the mug with beer
Drink all in one chug, the transition from beer, to soju, and then cola creates a very interesting flavour

A little FYI for those in Toronto from August 5th to the 7th. The 17th annual beer festival is on. You can buy your tickets at the beer store or online. I've got mine for the Saturday and can't wait. The location is now at the Ex grounds, I kind of miss going and getting wasted at Fort york.

Good times.
