Hi, this Christmas break, I and my family are planning to take a vacation in Singapore... and during this period, I'm planning that we go and visit the Petronas tower for a day....

so, my question is... how can we get to the Petronas towers?... I believe from Singapore we can ride the KTMB and alight at the Kuala Lumpur station.... so from the train station, what transportation should we take?...

and if in case I take a plane and alight at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport... what should I take to get there?...

Thanks guys in advance....

If you are taking the train (KTMB) it would be easy as you would be stopping at KL Sentral. From KL Sentral you could take the Putraline (a.k.a. Putra LRT) to KLCC station. Petronas Towers are situated at KLCC. ;)

If you planning to visit the skybridge, please be at the towers early as they limit the number of visitors per day. I am not too sure about weekdays but on Sundays.....the tickets usually finishes by 11pm. You have to be in queue for a ticket and when you get your tickets, there would be a specific time frame where you have to be at the skybridge visit entrance. You could also request for a later time if you wish to but not earlier. The skybridge visit closes at 6pm ;)

If you're coming by plane, you and your family could either take the Express Rail Link (KLIA Express) to KL Sentral and then take Putraline or you could get an airport taxi to take you directly to the towers. There are bus services but I am not too sure of the routes :)

I would also suggest you visit KL Tower which IMO gives a better view of KL. But the skybridge visit too is a must as it is a different experience all together ;)

hmmmm.....the skybridge visit starts at 8am daily (except on Mondays when it is closed) ;) ....oh the best thing is that it is free of charge to visit :)

KL Tower opens from 10am till 10pm daily if I am not mistaken........I am pretty sure bout the closing but not the opening hrs. KL Tower cost RM15 to visit (RM8 for locals) :D

haha.....they would be validating it by inspecting your Identification Card (locals would have a Malaysian IC). I would suggest you get a Malaysian to buy for ya but you guys must get outta sight for they might need to ask ICs from every single person they see while at the counter. :D

Last time I walked to KLCC from my hotel rather than take the cab because of very heavy congestion along Jalan Ampang.

hi... it seemed that I will be going to Petronas via KLIA.... I might be taking a connecting flight to Singapore via KL using Malaysian Air.... so... from KLIA, i will ride the KLIA Express and alight on KL Sentral right?... then transfer to the Putra line and alight at the KLCC station... would Petronas be a short distance from the KLCC station? KLIA Express costs RM35.. how 'bout the Putra line?

also it seems that i'll be going to KL for a few hours only, what should I take for me to go to the KL Tower from the Petronas or what station should I alight? would it be a short walk? is taxi expensive in KL? and would the sun still be up by 6pm there? here in Manila the sun sets at 5:45pm... thanks

From KL sentral to KLCC, i think less than RM1.50(correct me if I'm wrong).....KLCC station is located at the basement of Suria KLCC (the mall located underneath the petronas tower), so basically the putra LRT takes you straight to the petronas tower......

I think if you are returning by KLIA express to the airport after your visit.....you can get the return tickets at RM65(as compared to RM70 if you buy single trip)......

Yes......you are right. The KLCC Station is just a mere 50 metres from the towers and it is linked by a tunnel. Putraline's fare is RM1.60 per trip from KL Sentral to KLCC station. ;)

If you wanna visit the slybridge of the twin towers, I suggest you go early. If it is on a weekend - preferably before noon as I am afriad the tickets might run out (they only allow 500 person up the skybridge any single day) :)

The distance between KL Tower with Petronas Towers is quite near .....you could walk if you like (15 mins). The only bad part bout walking there is that you'll have to walk up the little hill it is on but there is a free shuttle service if you are not too pressing on time (they go on regular intervals from the entrance to the tower base) ;)

Taking a taxi to KL Tower would be good too and it shouldn't cost more than RM 5 ( someone please enlightened me on this too as I've not taken a cab in KL for a long long time :D ).

Anyway the fare is based on the distance travelled and the time when the taxi is stationary at traffic lights and during traffic jams. The single passenger is charged RM2 for the first 2 km and RM0.10sen for every 200 metres, and RM2.00 for the first two minutes and RM0.10sen for every 45 seconds. If there are extra passengers (more than 2), then there will be an extra charge of RM0.20sen.

The sun would be up till 7pm in west Malaysia and would slowly sets till 8pm. :)

Technically the KLCC station is located underneath a mall called Avenue K and it is across the road from KLCC. But since hte station are connected seemelessly via a tunnel with Suria KLCC, many do not notice till recently with Avenue K's soft opening :D

Good info :okay: ....I din know that considering I've never been on KLIA Express ( been on just the KLIA Transit which is basically the same train model but a slightly different interior ;) ) :D

A check on the KLIA express website show that the return fares have been reverted back to RM70..........but thats other alternatives......if you get the same day return ticket(i.e meeter and sender ticket) on KLIA transit(makes a few stops whereas KLIA express is non stop), it'll only cost RM50......Good value for money considering KLIA transit takes 36 mins from KLIA to KL sentral(compare to KLIA express 28 mins).....:D

For more info, can refer to the website.......http://www.kliaekspres.com/

yeah.. i will try to get there early... I might get a flight to Singapore via KL which will arrive in KL at 4:55pm and connects at 8am the next day... that gives me roughly an hour to get there....

i will try to take pictures on ground level while the sun is still up before trying to get upto the skybridge... i may be there on a thursday... ohh.. i hope i can get onto it... but if not... i'll go up the KL tower instead...

so, is there a train station near KL Tower? so that after Petronas and KL tower I wouldn't go back to KLCC station on my way back to the airport... I'm planning to stay overnight in the airport while waiting for my connecting flight to Singapore..:D

There is no LRT or monorail station right close to the KL Tower, but if you do not mind walking that far you can make it pretty easily to the Putra line on foot which takes you back to KL Sentral. Or you could walk the other way towards Jalan Sultan Ismail and catch the monorail, which also takes you close to KL Sentral. Im not sure which would take longer, but i remember it taking about 20-30 minutes to walk from KL Tower to Pasar Sani station in Chinatown. (personally id just take a cab :) )

The closest monorail station to Menara KL is Bukit Nenas Station just by the foothill of where the tower is but it would take 10 minutes to scale up the 90m hill to reach it though ;)
