(its the first pic)
man, now i no wat they were complaining about, i hadnt seen this pic b4, this really does destroy the performing arts center... did it go through, did they give up on putin 395 below ground? i hope they didnt, cause it kills the pac. if they put this underground, this land would prob become park or something, and not kill teh view of the pac. as much as i luv to lose a big one, wit the way this area is goin... it would only be a matter for time before another one took its place a lot or 2 away, and it wouldnt destroy the views of the pac
SkyDiveJunkee October 7th, 2004, 03:35 AM That first view just looks bizarre, like they got the perspective off or something...from the ground, it will compliment the PAC, imo. I actually think Opus is a beautiful tower. If they wanted views of the Bay at the PAC, they should have built it beside the Arena.

TRUE Nimby and WELCOME anytime :) , I was new at one time ,too, lol, but I'm getting old, hehe. THIS OPUS TOWER is a State of the ART Building, ARCHITECTURE DESIGN by the WORLD Known Famous Group ARQUITECTONICA. This Group Design Buildings such as THE PALACE on Brickell, The new United States Courthouse in Downtown MIAMI the All blue Glass building, THE WAVERLY on MIAMI BEACH, THE BLUE CONDO going up in MIDTOWN MIAMI, THE AXIS at BRICKELL, THE BENTLEY BAY on South Beach and The WESTIN HOTEL at TIMES SQUARE in NEW YORK CITY. THIS OPUS TOWER is a SLEEK SKINNY 57 story Tower that won't block the view AS MUCH AS THAT Sick-looking -dirty-old MIAMI HERALD Building DOSE, Thats the Building that needs taken down :bash: to see the New Performing ARTS CENTER of GREATER MIAMI, But it is on their Knight Ridder Property, So the Miami Herald building Stays, But Nimby, I DO think THE OPUS TOWER will not Hurt the View of the PAC, and I can't see I-395 being redone or widen because THEY CAN'T MOVE THE METRO MOVER THATS RIGHT NEXT TO THE INTERSTATE, I know That Because I work for the County, and The METRO MOVER Stays PUT !!!
streetscapeer October 7th, 2004, 07:36 PM WOW...great find nimby...you have officially been inducted...lol j/k
but yeah..I agree with skydive and chuck that the view is not as impaired as the Miami Herald reports (the Herald is very NIMBY) ...I think it's going to be a beautiful area....and a beautiful drive on I-395 on the way to Miami Beach
I'll go ahead and post the pics (just right click on the pic, go to properties, copy the url, then when you're posting, click that image icon and press paste.)

Jasonhouse October 8th, 2004, 05:03 PM Alot of LOUD text in here!
Welcome, nice project, though I wonder why people are so drawn to living next door to a facility that will largely attract the living dead.
Rx727sfl2002 October 8th, 2004, 05:11 PM I Disagree with skydive and chuck and scraper that the view is not as impaired its highly impaired and the object to to big for its lot.
the parking tower alone would block the sunlight of all those windows plus your not considering that they own 3 more sites which would also block the pac view and kill the look of the building.
imagine putting a wall infront of the sydney opera house.
thats the effect you get
sorry to say but id sacrifice this project and any other on that lot that goes past one story high...

the I doubt parking tower will be taller than the PAC itself...and since opus is more easterly of the western building of the PAC, sunlight may (or may not) be a problem in the morning (sun rises in the east)...but if PAC is active in the afternoon and evening..it should be no problem!...sydney opera house is not analogous to this situation, it sits on the harbour far away from development....PAC, on the other hand, sits right smack in the middle of devlopment. I mean, what do you expect, for a five block radius around the PAC never to develop past 2 stories.
streetscapeer October 8th, 2004, 05:55 PM lol ...opus looks like 6000 indian creek
Dale October 8th, 2004, 06:12 PM I thought that Opus was going to build elsewhere.
SkyDiveJunkee October 8th, 2004, 06:25 PM They do not shy away from building tall in NYC, and since Miami is obsessed with "Manhattanization" I'm surprised people feel that way. An architecturally stimulating tower is better than some insignificant one-story dull structure.
Rx727sfl2002 October 8th, 2004, 06:46 PM once the 395 is built there would be nothing but greenery from the bicentenial-museaum park facing the pac and the parking tower is 12 stories how tall do you think that is in feet and how tall is the pac?
im an architect student and know for a fact that it will cover it completly
the pac is going to be the best centr in the usa once built im sure you wouldnt want to bury it behind a wall of opus'es towers
and by the way i prefer a tower over a one storie building anyday but not in this case. luckilly there will be much more slender towers in the future which require a 60 % green space and 40% Building footprint in miami meaning more green space and less building.
Dale October 8th, 2004, 06:58 PM Again, I've heard that Opus is going to build elsewhere. Is this true or not ?
streetscapeer October 8th, 2004, 11:33 PM ^^...I've heard that if this site doesn't work out...there are other sites that are planned!
SkyDiveJunkee October 9th, 2004, 01:57 AM Its not going to block it out. Not only is it across the street, but its also a major artery through town, not like the opus tower is going to block out the PAC behind it. So you might not be able to see it from 395, big deal. I'll take density over highway views anyday.
Lincoln Center in NY is surrounded by super density, so is Independence Hall in Philly, as is Quincy Market in Boston. It doesn't ruin anything, IMO it makes things even more interesting Hopefully the PAC will spur even more highrises around it, furthering the activity in the neighborhood moreso.
ChuckScraperMiami#1 October 9th, 2004, 05:42 AM SKY is RIGHT :) , Its Perfect and I still believe OPUS TOWER WILL BE BUILT !!, YES STREET and DALE :) , And If , Just if NOT on that SITE, but somewhere in UPTOWN Miami, They will found a SITE to build it. This Opus Condo Tower Will Be a STATE of the ART Condo Tower.ITs going top be THERE, in MIAMI. I see it in my Dreams, lol.
nimbyhater October 9th, 2004, 06:52 AM i agree with rx, this area is exploding, and losing one tower tho it hurts, is better than detracking from the building, being able to see it from the highway, and blocking out that big glass wall, not to say that it will be destroyed, but itll detract from it significantly, and i think thats enough, and theyres other sites for this project, not moving it is just stupid
i no that im goin against my sn, but come on, theyres other sites for this, move the damn thing for the good of miami
ChuckScraperMiami#1 October 9th, 2004, 06:54 AM Alot of LOUD text in here!

Welcome, nice project, though I wonder why people are so drawn to living next door to a facility that will largely attract the living dead.
HeHe, JASON, your funny :) , Its not just performances by ' The Living Dead ', ITS the 2 Opera and Ballet Houses ( Buildings ), AT 200 MILLION Each, ITS The Buildings Themselves, I work for Miami-Dade County for over 25 years, And I've been Watching These same 2 buildings on a Drawing board for 20 yrs. AND to tell you the truth, THESE 2 State of the Art Buildings Will LIGHT up and SHINE all around the WORLD. ITS the way they are being Built and the all white Buildings will be the LIGHT OF MIAMI at Night. I know in fact, Every New York Broadway Show Will be THere. and to live next door is the Best anyone could do and its going to be just like Times Square in this Area when the 2 Buildings are finished in SEPTEMBER, 2006. and ON TIME !! Its going to be the moment MIAMI's been waiting for OVER 20 Years, its exciting and you'll see it.
nimbyhater October 10th, 2004, 06:27 AM its like saying, wats the big fuss about living next to like carnegie hall in new york, or like the sydeny opera house in sydney (although that ones isolated from buildings, but it still works) or wrigley field in chicago, every major broadway play, the philarmonic, the ballet, the opera, i even heard theres gonna b a good amount of stand up comedy shows (perhaps just a rumor, sounds like it, but itd still b kik ass), this is just the place to be (said dripping with sarcastic, sappy enthusiasm)!!!!
