Great collection of pictures of and from the WTC observation deck found at pbase. These pictures are actually dated 1989, but great nonetheless.

I've seen that kind of stuff many times, but the WTC never fails to amaze me. Wow.

That's crazy. My apartment building is located on that empty lot.

Oh man, you could say that again. I had the honor of getting up there twice.

yeah, western midtown have changed so much since 1989...

say, why does 7 wtc still have something that looks like a construction elevator shaft attached to the west side of the building? i thought it was completed in 1987 according to emporis, or was it left like that until salomon brothers moved into the building?

man, why didn't i visit nyc before the twins vanished into history?

I've asked myself that same question, as I was 2 months too late. I really think photos don't do them justice.

I was planning to go to the WTC observation deck for the first time in September but never did.
Despite living in NYC my whole life, I had never been to the top of the south tower and now realize how much I took the WTC for granted.

I too had the honor of going up the twins once....Beautiful sunny day, could see as far as the eye could see. Me being a dumb-ass 10 year old I was more concerned with the "helicopter ride" that was on the inside observation deck, jeez I should've really cerished the moment when I could've.. :(

Great pics. I wish I had gone up the twin towers, in 1995 I went there on vacation and we didn't have time. When I returned to New York in 2003, it was too late.

Great stuff, great stuff.
battery Park City looks so brand and new, and it's good to see how much the Midtown skyline has improved ever since: now you would also see Bloomberg, TWT and Conde Nast towerind over there and more stuff is coming.
Now I really hope that they build up more offices on Freedom Tower, even though it will not replace the mass and scale of the old towers.

I travelled the world in 2000 and visited the WTC and it's observation decks....the roof top deck was amazing and I value my photos....... I respect the loss to free people throughout the world.......it was a great engineering and landmark building ........but it was full of mankind of all religion and race when attacked. If they can look into their childrens eyes and know love, they could not do this. But did ! I live on the other side of the world but feel at loss...............If anything .......now, the World Trade Center is a greater symbol of the free world than ever.

There was talk a couple of months ago about re-opening the observation deck at the GE building at Rockefeller Center, haven't heard any news about that in a while though.
