I read with great interest the Internet version of the Chicago Sun-Times story on the city's near-term plans for the construction of a riverwlak. I also found a few low rez pics on Collins Engineering website...does anyone have any further information on the proposals shown? Any photos? Thanks.

No photos, sorry.
But I have heard great things. The Riverwalk seems to be described for the south side of the main branch of Chicago River. Why isn't there any talk of a riverwalk on the north side? (aside from the Trump Tower river-walk)

by north side, do you mean north side of the main branch or North Side of the city?
on the north side of the main branch, there have been efforts to create a river walk, but most of these have been privately developed. East of Michigan Avenue to the sanitary district fountain, developers of what is now River East (one time Cityfront Center) have nicely landscaped the riverfront. The Sherarton makes some of the best use of riverfront of any downtown hotel.
west of Michigan Avenue, private ownership has forced peacmeal development, as Trump will add on to. The difference here, of course, from the opposite bank, is the lack of Wacker Drive and city owned frontage along the river.
As for the North Side itself, there's a lot of privately owned land, although the city has been able to open one or two vest-pocket parks. In many ways, the south branch will offer a lot more options because of the surprisingly large amount of undeveloped land so close to the Loop.
