View Full Version : Guess that reference thread.
RUM October 13th, 2004, 12:01 AM I just watched the Seinfeld episode with the Soup Nazi.
Man, that's funny. How he goes psycho over the smallest things.
How he bans Kramer. Did ever close down his own shop?
I hear he is getting quite famous, opening up new shops (he is a real person). I wonder if Australia would ever get one. Melbourne probably.
jacobsian October 13th, 2004, 01:49 AM I haven't seen that episode in years, but I still yell "NO SOUP FOR YOU!" at people just about every day.
RUM October 13th, 2004, 08:20 AM see I thought Tayser would understand what I am talking about.
Drunkill October 13th, 2004, 11:42 AM Hehe the soup nazi rocks. Is he based off a real guy? So he has a chain of shops, hmm intresting.
Arunava October 13th, 2004, 12:35 PM I see the point. How nice.
jacobsian October 13th, 2004, 12:38 PM Yes yes, we saw the point, but I hoped I could divert the discussion back to Seinfeld, otherwise the thread may get.... "soup nazi'd" :)
Arunava October 13th, 2004, 12:49 PM Actually, I think the Soup Nazi episode is one of the poorer ones. It's the one people who don't regularly watch Seinfeld mention when they talk about Seinfeld. If that makes any sense.
Jimmy James October 14th, 2004, 03:05 PM Yes it does - I thought it was a little Gimmicky, overall Season 7 of Seinfeld although structurally interesting with George's engagement providing new storylines, wentt back and forth on quality.
I'd be interested to know what people thought the best episode of Seinfeld was...
For me it's a toss up between Season 5's premiere and it's Finale, the premiere - The Mango was stand alone brilliance running parallel stories about George's impotence and Jerry questioning his prowess, intersecting both of them is a hilariously pointless tussle between Kramer and a fruit store owner. The finale The Opposite is an episode for long time fans which requires knowledge of the characters where George and Elaine switch roles, George becomes successful, gets a job, moves out of his parent's house and gets a girlfriend all by going against his instincts, meanwhile Elaine slowly turns into George, through a series of self inflicted mishaps loses her boyfriend, her job and her apartment, Jerry breaks even while Kramer floggs a Coffee table book about Coffee Tables - it's satisfying to see George finally get one over Elaine after all those years, also provides a neat bookend to a season which began with a jobless George moving in with his parents.
What are everyone else's favourites? (BTW can't wait 4 the DVDs!)
Yardmaster October 14th, 2004, 04:13 PM I watched Seinfeld for years but apparently missed the "soup nazi" although I saw many repeats. That ephisode where the lodge got burnt down in upstate New York was probably the best (apart from the one with the Bubble Boy ... or was that the same one?)
yeah, I'm an arsonist .. :bash:
Jimmy James October 14th, 2004, 09:34 PM Yep Same One, George and Susan we're playing Trivial Pursuit with Bubble Boy while Kramer was burning down Susan's father's cabin
jacobsian October 15th, 2004, 12:43 AM How about the episode where Kramer comes up with the can deposit scheme, where they get doube the return by returning cans interstate. I think that's the same episode that someone steals Seinfeld's car, and they're chasing him up the highway while the bandit is throwing Elaine's boss' gold clubs out the window at them. Gold!
RUM October 15th, 2004, 03:33 AM I like the one where in the end, Kramer hits a golf ball into a whale's blow whole (or dolphin maybe) and then, because George is pretending to be a marine biologist to impress a girl, he has to save it. The fish... no mammal. I don't know what Jerry was doing.
Kramer and the smell of the ocean.
Kramer relinemarking the 4 lane road into 2 lanes.
Kramer sunbaking himself and Newman wanting to eat him.
